Jeremiah 29
1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,
E estas são as palavras da carta que Jeremias, o profeta, enviou de Jerusalém, ao resto do cativeiro dos anciãos, como também aos sacerdotes, e aos profetas, e a todo o povo que Nabucodonozor havia transportado de Jerusalém a Babilônia;
2 (after that Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metal workers, had departed from Jerusalem),
Depois que sairam o rei Jechonias, e a rainha, e os eunucos, e os príncipes de Judá e Jerusalém, e os carpinteiros e ferreiros de Jerusalém,
3 by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying,
Pela mão de Elasa, filho de Saphan, e de Gemarias, filho de Hilkias, os quais enviou Zedekias, rei de Judá, a Babilônia, a Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, dizendo:
4 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a todos os que foram transportados, os quais fiz transportar de Jerusalém para Babilônia:
5 'Build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit.
Edificai casas e habitai nelas; e plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.
6 Take wives, and father sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and do not be diminished.
Tomai mulheres e gerai filhos e filhas, e tomai mulheres para vossos filhos, e dai vossas filhas a maridos, e parirão filhos e filhas; e multiplicai-vos ali, e não vos diminuais.
7 Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you shall have peace.'
E procurai a paz da cidade, para onde vos fiz transportar, e orai por ela ao Senhor; porque na sua paz vós tereis paz.
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Do not let your prophets who are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.
Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Não vos enganem os vossos profetas que estão no meio de vós, nem os vossos adivinhos, nem deis ouvidos aos vossos sonhos, que vós sonhais:
9 For they prophesy falsely to you in my name: I have not sent them,' says the LORD.
Porque eles vos profetizam falsamente no meu nome: não os enviei, diz o Senhor.
10 "For thus says the LORD, 'After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
Porque assim diz o Senhor: Certamente que em se cumprindo setenta anos em Babilônia, vos visitarei, e continuarei sobre vós a minha boa palavra, tornando-vos a trazer a este lugar.
11 For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the LORD, 'plans for your welfare, and not for calamity, to give you hope and a future.
Porque eu bem sei os pensamentos que eu penso de vós, diz o Senhor; pensamentos de paz, e não de mal, para vos dar o fim que esperais.
12 You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Então me invocareis, e ireis, e orareis a mim, e eu vos ouvirei.
13 You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.
E buscar-me-eis, e me achareis, quando me buscardes com todo o vosso coração.
14 I will be found by you,' says the LORD, 'and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you,' says the LORD; 'and I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.'
E serei achado de vós, diz o Senhor, e farei tornar os vossos cativos, e congregar-vos-ei de todas as nações, e de todos os lugares para onde vos lancei, diz o Senhor, e tornarei a trazer-vos ao lugar de onde vos transportei.
15 "Because you have said, 'The LORD has raised us up prophets in Babylon';
Porque dizeis: O Senhor nos levantou profetas em Babilônia.
16 thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven't gone forth with you into captivity;
Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei que se assenta no trono de David; e acerca de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, a saber, de vossos irmãos, que não sairam convosco para o cativeiro;
17 thus says the LORD of hosts; 'Look, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that can't be eaten, they are so bad.
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Eis que enviarei entre eles a espada, a fome e a peste, e fa-los-ei como a figos podres, que não se podem comer, de maus que são.
18 I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them;
E persegui-los-ei com a espada, com a fome, e com a peste; dá-los-ei para servirem de comoção a todos os reinos da terra, como também por maldição, e por espanto, e por assobio, e por opróbrio entre toda sas nações para onde os lançar;
19 because they have not listened to my words,' says the LORD, 'with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear,' says the LORD.
Porquanto não deram ouvidos às minhas palavras, diz o Senhor, enviando-lhes eu os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando; porém vós não escutastes, diz o Senhor.
20 'Hear therefore the word of the LORD, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.'
Vós, pois, ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todos os do cativeiro que enviei de Jerusalém a Babilônia.
21 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahiab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: 'Look, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall kill them before your eyes;
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, acerca de Ahab, filho de Colaias, e de Zedekias, filho de Maaseias, que vos profetizam falsamente no meu nome: Eis que os entregarei na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, e ele os ferirá diante dos vossos olhos.
22 and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahiab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire";
E tomarão deles uma maldição todos os transportados de Judá, que estão em Babilônia, dizendo: O Senhor te faça como Zedekias, e como Ahab, os quais o rei de Babilônia assou no fogo
23 because they have worked folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I did not command them; and I am he who knows, and am witness,' says the LORD."
Porquanto fizeram loucura em Israel, e cometeram adultério com as mulheres de seus companheiros, e falaram uma palavra no meu nome falsamente, que não lhes mandei, e eu o sei e sou testemunha disso, diz o Senhor.
24 "Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,
E a Shemaias, o nehelamita, falarás, dizendo:
25 'Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, "Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, dizendo: Porquanto tu enviaste no teu nome cartas a todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, como também a Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26 'The LORD has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man who is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.
O Senhor te pôs por sacerdote em lugar de Joiada, o sacerdote, para que sejais encarregados da casa do Senhor sobre todo o homem furioso, e que profetiza, para o lançares na prisão e no tronco.
27 Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,
Agora, pois, porque não repreendeste a Jeremias, o anathotita, que profetiza vos?
28 because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, "The captivity is long: build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit?"'"'
Porque por isso nos mandou a nós a Babilônia, dizendo: Ainda o cativeiro muito há de durar; edificai casas, e habitai nelas; e plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
E lera Sofonias, o sacerdote, esta carta aos ouvidos de Jeremias, o profeta.
30 Then came the word of the LORD to Jeremiah, saying,
E veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:
31 "Send to all them of the captivity, saying, 'Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: "Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I did not send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie;
Manda a todos os do cativeiro, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor acerca de Semaias, o nehelamita: Porquanto Semaias vos profetizou, e eu não o enviei, e vos fez confiar em mentiras,
32 therefore," thus says the LORD, "Look, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his offspring; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he see the good that I will do to my people, says the LORD, because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD."'"
Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Eis que visitarei a Semaias, o nehelamita, e a sua semente: ele não terá ninguém que habite entre este povo, e não verá o bem que hei de fazer ao meu povo, diz o Senhor, porquanto falou rebelião contra o Senhor.
