< Numbers 33 >

1 These [are] the journeys of the sons of Israel who have come out of the land of Egypt, by their hosts, by the hand of Moses and Aaron;
These were the movements of the people of Israel after they left the land of Egypt by their armed groups under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 and Moses writes their outgoings, by their journeys, by the command of YHWH; and these [are] their journeys, by their outgoings:
Moses wrote down the places from where they left to where they went, as commanded by Yahweh. These were their movements, departure after departure.
3 And they journey from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; from the day after the Passover the sons of Israel have gone out with a high hand before the eyes of all the Egyptians—
They traveled from Rameses during the first month, leaving on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the morning after the Passover, the people of Israel left openly, in the sight of all the Egyptians.
4 and the Egyptians are burying those whom YHWH has struck among them, every firstborn, and YHWH has done judgments on their gods.
This happened while the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn, those whom Yahweh had killed among them, for he also inflicted punishment on their gods.
5 And the sons of Israel journey from Rameses and encamp in Succoth.
The people of Israel set out from Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 And they journey from Succoth and encamp in Etham, which [is] in the extremity of the wilderness.
They set out from Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness.
7 And they journey from Etham and turn back over Pi-Hahiroth, which [is] on the front of Ba‘al-Zephon, and they encamp before Migdol.
They set out from Etham and turned back to Pi Hahiroth, which is opposite Baal Zephon, where they camped opposite Migdol.
8 And they journey from Pi-Hahiroth, and pass over through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and go a journey of three days in the wilderness of Etham, and encamp in Marah.
Then they set out from opposite Pi Hahiroth and passed through the middle of the sea into the wilderness. They traveled three days' journey into the wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah.
9 And they journey from Marah and come to Elim, and twelve fountains of waters and seventy palm trees [are] in Elim, and they encamp there.
They set out from Marah and arrived at Elim. At Elim were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees. That is where they camped.
10 And they journey from Elim and encamp by the Red Sea.
They set out from Elim and camped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 And they journey from the Red Sea and encamp in the wilderness of Sin.
They set out from the Sea of Reeds and camped in the wilderness of Sin.
12 And they journey from the wilderness of Sin and encamp in Dophkah.
They set out from the wilderness of Sin and camped at Dophkah.
13 And they journey from Dophkah and encamp in Alush.
They set out from Dophkah and camped at Alush.
14 And they journey from Alush and encamp in Rephidim; and there was no water there for the people to drink.

15 And they journey from Rephidim and encamp in the wilderness of Sinai.

35 And they journey from Ebronah and encamp in Ezion-Gaber.
They set out from Abronah and camped at Ezion Geber.
36 And they journey from Ezion-Gaber and encamp in the wilderness of Zin, which [is] Kadesh.
They set out from Ezion Geber and camped in the wilderness of Zin at Kadesh.
37 And they journey from Kadesh and encamp in Mount Hor, in the extremity of the land of Edom.
They set out from Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, at the edge of the land of Edom.
38 And Aaron the priest goes up to Mount Hor by the command of YHWH, and dies there in the fortieth year of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first of the month;
Aaron the priest went up Mount Hor at Yahweh's command and died there in the fortieth year after the people of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 and Aaron [is] a son of one hundred and twenty-three years in his dying on Mount Hor.
Aaron was a 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 And the Canaanite, king of Arad, who is dwelling in the south in the land of Canaan, hears of the coming of the sons of Israel.
The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the southern wilderness in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the people of Israel.
41 And they journey from Mount Hor and encamp in Zalmonah.
They set out from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.
42 And they journey from Zalmonah and encamp in Punon.
They set out from Zalmonah and camped at Punon.
43 And they journey from Punon and encamp in Oboth.
They set out from Punon and camped at Oboth.
44 And they journey from Oboth and encamp in Ije-Abarim, in the border of Moab.
They set out from Oboth and camped at Iye Abarim, on the border of Moab.
45 And they journey from Iim and encamp in Dibon-Gad.
They set out from Iye Abarim and camped at Dibon Gad.
46 And they journey from Dibon-Gad and encamp in Almon-Diblathaim.
They set out from Dibon Gad and camped at Almon Diblathaim.
47 And they journey from Almon-Diblathaim and encamp in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

48 And they journey from the mountains of Abarim and encamp in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho.

49 And they encamp by the Jordan, from Beth-Jeshimoth as far as Abel-Shittim in the plains of Moab.

50 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho and said,
51 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'When you cross over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,
52 then you have dispossessed all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and have destroyed all their imagery, indeed, you destroy all their molten images, and you lay waste [to] all their high places,
then you must drive out all the land's inhabitants before you. You must destroy all their carved figures. You must destroy all their cast figures and demolish all their high places.
53 and you have possessed the land and dwelt in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.
You must take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given you the land to possess.
54 And you have inherited the land by lot, by your families; to the many you increase their inheritance, and to the few you diminish their inheritance; to where the lot goes out to him, it is his; you inherit by the tribes of your fathers.
You must inherit the land by lot, according to each clan. To the larger clans you must give a larger share of land, and to the smaller clans you must give a smaller share of land. Wherever the lot falls to each clan, that land will belong to it. You will inherit the land according to your ancestors' tribes.
55 And if you do not dispossess the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it has been [that] those whom you let remain of them [are] for pricks in your eyes and for thorns in your sides, and they have distressed you on the land in which you are dwelling,
But if you do not drive out the land's inhabitants before you, then the people you allow to stay will become like objects in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will make your lives difficult in the land where you settle.
56 and it has come to pass, as I thought to do to them, I do to you.”
Then it will happen that what I now intend to do to those people, I will do also to you.'”
