Numbers 30

1 And Moses speaks to the heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel, saying, “This [is] the thing which YHWH has commanded:

Et Moïse parla aux Chefs des Tribus des enfants d'Israël en ces termes: Voici ce que prescrit l'Éternel:

2 When a man vows a vow to YHWH, or has sworn an oath to bind a bond on his soul, he does not defile his word; he does according to all that is going out from his mouth.

Quand un homme aura fait un vœu à l'Éternel, ou un serment pour se lier par un engagement, il ne violera pas sa parole, mais il exécutera ce que sa bouche aura prononcé.

3 And when a woman vows a vow to YHWH, and has bound a bond in the house of her father in her youth,

Et quand une femme aura fait un vœu à l'Éternel, et se sera, dans la maison de son père pendant son jeune âge, liée par un engagement,

4 and her father has heard her vow and her bond which she has bound on her soul, and her father has kept silent to her, then all her vows have been established, and every bond which she has bound on her soul is established.

et que son père aura entendu son vœu et l'engagement par lequel elle s'est liée, et aura gardé là-dessus le silence, tous ses vœux subsistent, et tous les engagements par lesquels elle s'est liée, auront leur effet.

5 And if her father has disallowed her in the day of his hearing, none of her vows and her bonds which she has bound on her soul are established, and YHWH is propitious to her, for her father has disallowed her.

Mais si son père, le jour où il l'entend, lui intime une défense, tous ses vœux et tous les engagements par lesquels elle se sera liée, seront sans valeur, et l'Éternel lui pardonnera, parce que son père lui a intimé une défense.

6 And if she is having a husband, and her vows [are] on her, or a wrongful utterance [on] her lips which she has bound on her soul,

Et si elle est mariée, et qu'elle soit sous le poids de ses vœux ou d'une parole légère de ses lèvres qui la lie, et que son mari l'ait entendue,

7 and her husband has heard, and in the day of his hearing he has kept silent to her, then her vows have been established, and her bonds which she has bound on her soul are established.

et qu'au jour où il l'a entendue il ne lui ait rien dit, ses vœux subsistent, et les engagements par lesquels elle se sera liée auront leur effet.

8 And if in the day of her husband’s hearing he disallows her, then he has broken her vow which [is] on her, and the wrongful utterance of her lips which she has bound on her soul, and YHWH is propitious to her.

Mais si son mari, le jour où il l'entend, lui intime une défense et casse le vœu sous le poids duquel elle est, ainsi que la parole légère de ses lèvres par laquelle elle s'est liée, alors l'Éternel lui pardonnera.

9 As for the vow of a widow or cast-out woman, all that she has bound on her soul is established on her.

Et le vœu d'une veuve ou d'une femme répudiée, tous les engagements par lesquels elle se sera liée, subsisteront pour elle.

10 And if she has vowed [in] the house of her husband, or has bound a bond on her soul with an oath,

Et si une femme dans la maison de son mari fait un vœu ou s'engage à quelque chose par un serment,

11 and her husband has heard, and has kept silent to her—he has not disallowed her—then all her vows have been established, and every bond which she has bound on her soul is established.

et que le mari l'entende, et ne lui dise rien et ne lui intime aucune défense, tous ses vœux subsisteront, et tous les engagements par lesquels elle s'est liée, subsisteront.

12 And if her husband certainly breaks them in the day of his hearing, none of the outgoing of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, is established—her husband has broken them—and YHWH is propitious to her.

Mais si son mari les casse le jour où il les entend, tout ce que sa bouche aura prononcé en fait de vœux ou d'engagements, n'aura plus de valeur: son mari les a cassés, et l'Éternel lui pardonnera.

13 Every vow and every oath—a bond to humble a soul—her husband establishes it, or her husband breaks it;

Tout vœu, tout serment qui engage à des macérations, son mari peut le ratifier ou le casser.

14 and if her husband certainly keeps silent to her from day to day, then he has established all her vows or all her bonds which [are] on her; he has established them, for he has kept silent to her in the day of his hearing;

Et si son mari a gardé là-dessus le silence d'un jour à l'autre, il a confirmé tous ses vœux, ou tous les engagements qu'elle a pris: il les a confirmés parce qu'il s'en est tû le jour où il les a entendus.

15 and if he indeed breaks them after his hearing, then he has borne her iniquity.”

Que s'il les casse ensuite, après qu'il les aura entendus, il sera responsable du manquement de la femme.

16 These [are] the statutes which YHWH has commanded Moses between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, in her youth, [in] the house of her father.

Telles sont les règles que l'Éternel prescrivit à Moïse, enrtre un mari et sa femme, entre un père et sa fille, jeune et étant dans la maison de son père.
