Judges 1
1 And it comes to pass after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask of YHWH, saying, “Who goes up for us to the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?”
Nach dem Tod Josuas fragten die Kinder Israel den HERRN und sprachen: Wer soll unter uns zuerst hinaufziehen, Krieg zu führen wider die Kanaaniter?
2 And YHWH says, “Judah goes up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.”
Der HERR sprach: Juda soll hinaufziehen. Siehe, ich habe das Land in seine Hand gegeben.
3 And Judah says to his brother Simeon, “Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite—and I have gone, even I, with you into your lot”; and Simeon goes with him.
Da sprach Juda zu seinem Bruder Simeon: Zieh mit mir hinauf in mein Los und laß uns wider die Kanaaniter streiten, so will ich wieder mit dir ziehen in dein Los. Also zog Simeon mit ihm.
4 And Judah goes up, and YHWH gives the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they strike them in Bezek—ten thousand men;
Da nun Juda hinaufzog, gab der HERR die Kanaaniter und Pheresiter in ihre Hände, und sie schlugen zu Besek zehntausend Mann.
5 and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and strike the Canaanite and the Perizzite.
Und fanden den Adoni-Besek zu Besek und stritten wider ihn und schlugen die Kanaaniter und Pheresiter.
6 And Adoni-Bezek flees, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,
Aber Adoni-Besek floh, und sie jagten ihm nach; und da sie ihn ergriffen, hieben sie ihm die Daumen ab an seinen Händen und Füßen.
7 and Adoni-Bezek says, “Seventy kings—their thumbs and their great toes cut off—have been gathering under my table; as I have done so God has repaid to me”; and they bring him to Jerusalem, and he dies there.
Da sprach Adoni-Besek: Siebzig Könige mit abgehauenen Daumen ihrer Hände und Füße lasen auf unter meinem Tisch. Wie ich nun getan habe, so hat mir Gott wieder vergolten. Und man brachte ihn gen Jerusalem; daselbst starb er.
8 And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and they have sent the city into fire;
Aber die Kinder Juda stritten wider Jerusalem und gewannen es und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des Schwerts und zündeten die Stadt an.
9 and afterward the sons of Judah have gone down to fight against the Canaanite inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;
Darnach zogen die Kinder Juda herab, zu streiten wider die Kanaaniter, die auf dem Gebirge und gegen Mittag und in den Gründen wohnten.
10 and Judah goes to the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron [was] formerly Kirjath-Arba), and they strike Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
Und Juda zog hin wider die Kanaaniter, die zu Hebron wohnten (Hebron aber hieß vorzeiten Kirjath-Arba), und sie schlugen den Sesai und Ahiman und Thalmai.
11 And he goes there to the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir [was] formerly Kirjath-Sepher),
Und zogen von da wider die Einwohner zu Debir (Debir aber hieß vorzeiten Kirjath-Sepher).
12 and Caleb says, “He who strikes Kirjath-Sepher and has captured it—then I have given my daughter Achsah to him for a wife.”
Und Kaleb sprach: Wer Kirjath-Sepher schlägt und gewinnt, dem will ich meine Tochter Achsa zum Weibe geben.
13 And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, captures it, and he gives his daughter Achsah to him for a wife.
Da gewann es Othniel, der Sohn des Kenas, Kalebs jüngerer Bruder. Und er gab ihm sein Tochter Achsa zum Weibe.
14 And it comes to pass in her coming in, that she persuades him to ask from her father the field, and she comes down off the donkey, and Caleb says to her, “What do you [want]?”
Und es begab sich, da sie einzog, beredete sie ihn, einen Acker zu fordern von ihrem Vater. Und sie stieg vom Esel; da sprach Kaleb zu ihr: Was ist dir?
15 And she says to him, “Give a blessing to me; when you have given me the south land—then you have given springs of water to me”; and Caleb gives the upper springs and the lower springs to her.
Sie sprach: Gib mir einen Segen! Denn du hast mir ein Mittagsland gegeben; gib mir auch Wasserquellen! Da gab er ihr die Quellen oben und unten.
16 And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah [to] the wilderness of Judah, which [is] in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.
Und die Kinder des Keniters, Mose's Schwagers, zogen herauf aus der Palmenstadt mit den Kindern Juda in die Wüste Juda, die da liegt gegen Mittag der Stadt Arad, und gingen hin und wohnten unter dem Volk.
17 And Judah goes with his brother Simeon, and they strike the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and [one] calls the name of the city Hormah.
Und Juda zog hin mit seinem Bruder Simeon, und schlugen die Kanaaniter zu Zephath und verbannten sie und nannten die Stadt Horma.
18 And Judah captures Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;
Dazu gewann Juda Gaza mit seinem Zugehör und Askalon mit seinem Zugehör und Ekron mit seinem Zugehör.
19 and YHWH is with Judah, and he occupies the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.
Und der HERR war mit Juda, daß er das Gebirge einnahm; denn er konnte die Einwohner im Grunde nicht vertreiben, darum daß sie eiserne Wagen hatten.
20 And they give Hebron to Caleb, as Moses has spoken, and he dispossesses the three sons of Anak there.
Und sie gaben dem Kaleb Hebron, wie Mose gesagt hatte; und er vertrieb daraus die drei Söhne des Enak.
21 And the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed the Jebusite inhabiting Jerusalem; and the Jebusite dwells with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, until this day.
Aber die Kinder Benjamin vertrieben die Jebusiter nicht, die zu Jerusalem wohnten; sondern die Jebusiter wohnten bei den Kindern Benjamin zu Jerusalem bis auf diesen Tag.
22 And the house of Joseph goes up—even they—to Beth-El, and YHWH [is] with them;
Desgleichen zogen auch die Kinder Joseph hinauf gen Beth-El, und der HERR war mit ihnen.
23 and the house of Joseph causes [men] to spy out Beth-El (and the name of the city [was] formerly Luz),
Und das Haus Josephs ließ auskundschaften Beth-El, das vorzeiten Lus hieß.
24 and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, “Please show us the entrance of the city, and we have done kindness with you.”
Und die Wächter sahen einen Mann aus der Stadt gehen und sprachen zu ihm: Weise uns, wo wir in die Stadt kommen, so wollen wir Barmherzigkeit an dir tun.
25 And he shows them the entrance of the city, and they strike the city by the mouth of the sword, and they have sent the man and all his family away;
Und da er ihnen zeigte, wo sie in die Stadt kämen, schlugen sie die Stadt mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; aber den Mann und all sein Geschlecht ließen sie gehen.
26 and the man goes to the land of the Hittites, and builds a city, and calls its name Luz—it [is] its name to this day.
Da zog derselbe Mann ins Land der Hethiter und baute eine Stadt und hieß sie Lus; die heißt noch heutigestages also.
27 And Manasseh has not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;
Und Manasse vertrieb nicht Beth-Sean mit den zugehörigen Orten noch Thaanach mit den zugehörigen Orten noch die Einwohner zu Dor mit den zugehörigen Orten noch die Einwohner zu Jibleam mit den zugehörigen Orten noch die Einwohner zu Megiddo mit den zugehörigen Orten; und die Kanaaniter blieben wohnen im Land.
28 and it comes to pass, when Israel has been strong, that he sets the Canaanite to forced labor, and has not utterly dispossessed it.
Da aber Israel mächtig war, machte es die Kanaaniter zinsbar und vertrieb sie nicht.
29 And Ephraim has not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwells in its midst, in Gezer.
Desgleichen vertrieb auch Ephraim die Kanaaniter nicht, die zu Geser wohnten, sondern die Kanaaniter wohnten unter ihnen zu Geser.
30 Zebulun has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwells in its midst, and they become forced labor.
Sebulon vertrieb auch nicht die Einwohner von Kitron und Nahalol; sondern die Kanaaniter wohnten unter ihnen und waren zinsbar.
31 Asher has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Sidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;
Asser vertrieb die Einwohner zu Akko nicht noch die Einwohner zu Sidon, zu Ahelab, zu Achsib, zu Helba, zu Aphik und zu Rehob;
32 and the Asherite dwells in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it has not dispossessed them.
sondern die Asseriter wohnten unter den Kanaanitern, die im Lande wohnten, denn sie vertrieben sie nicht.
33 Naphtali has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwells in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath were for forced labor for them.
Naphthali vertrieb die Einwohner nicht zu Beth-Semes noch zu Beth-Anath, sondern wohnte unter den Kanaanitern, die im Lande wohnten. Aber die zu Beth-Semes und zu Beth-Anath wurden zinsbar.
34 And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not permitted them to go down to the valley;
Und die Amoriter drängten die Kinder Dan aufs Gebirge und ließen nicht zu, daß sie herunter in den Grund kämen.
35 and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they are for forced labor;
Und die Amoriter blieben wohnen auf dem Gebirge Heres, zu Ajalon und Saalbim. Doch ward ihnen die Hand des Hauses Joseph zu schwer, und wurden zinsbar.
36 and the border of the Amorite [is] from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.
Und die Grenze der Amoriter war, da man nach Akrabbim hinaufgeht, von dem Fels an und weiter hinauf.
