Judges 10
1 And there arose after Abimelech to deliver Israel Tola' the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the mountain of Ephraim.
Nach Abimelech trat zur Errettung Israels der Issacharit Thola, der Sohn Puas, des Sohnes Dodos, auf. Dieser wohnte in Samir auf dem Gebirge Ephraim
2 And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and then died, and was buried in Shamir.
und richtete Israel 23 Jahre; sodann starb er und wurde in Samir begraben.
3 And after him arose Yair, the Gil'adite, and judged Israel twenty and two years;
Nach ihm trat der Gileadit Jair auf und richtete Israel 22 Jahre.
4 And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass-colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Chavvoth-yair unto this day, which are in the land of Gil'ad.
Dieser hatte dreißig Söhne, die auf dreißig Eselsfüllen ritten; sie besaßen dreißig Städte. Die heißen die Zeltdörfer Jairs bis auf den heutigen Tag; sie liegen im Lande Gilead.
5 And Yair died, and was buried in Kamon.
Dann starb Jair und wurde in Kamon begraben.
6 And the children of Israel repeated to do the evil in the eyes of the Lord, and they served the Be'alim, and 'Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of 'Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and they forsook the Lord, and served not him.
Aber die Israeliten thaten aufs Neue, was Jahwe mißfiel, und verehrten die Baale und die Astarten, die Götter Arams, die Götter Sidons, die Götter Moabs, die Götter der Ammoniter und die Götter der Philister und verließen Jahwe und verehrten ihn nicht.
7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of 'Ammon.
Da entbrannte der Zorn Jahwes über Israel, und er verkaufte sie in die Gewalt der Philister und in die Gewalt der Ammoniter;
8 And they afflicted and oppressed the children of Israel that year; [and] for eighteen years all the children of Israel that were on the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Emorites, which is in Gil'ad.
die quälten und mißhandelten die Israeliten in jenem Jahre - achtzehn Jahre lang, alle Israeliten jenseits des Jordan im Lande der Amoriter, die in Gilead wohnten.
9 And the children of 'Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sorely distressed.
Dazu überschritten die Ammoniter den Jordan, um auch Juda, Benjamin und das Haus Ephraim anzugreifen, so daß Israel in großer Not war.
10 And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Be'alim.
Da schrieen die Israeliten zu Jahwe um Hilfe und sprachen: Wir haben gegen dich gesündigt, daß wir unseren Gott verlassen und die Baale verehrt haben!
11 And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Behold [I delivered you] from the Egyptians, and from the Emorites, from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines.
Jahwe erwiderte den Israeliten: Nicht wahr, von den Ägyptern, den Amoritern, den Ammonitern und den Philistern -
12 And when the Zidonians, and the 'Amalekites, and the Ma'onites did oppress you, and ye cried to me, I delivered you also out of their hand.
und die Sidonier, die Amalekiter und die Midianiter bedrängten euch, dann schrieet ihr zu mir, und ich errettete euch aus ihrer Gewalt.
13 And yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; wherefore I will deliver you no more.
Ihr aber habt mich verlassen und andere Götter verehrt. Deshalb will ich euch ferner nicht mehr erretten.
14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let these deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
Geht hin und schreit zu den Göttern, die ihr euch erkoren habt! Sie mögen euch Rettung schaffen, wenn ihr in Bedrängnis seid!
15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us entirely as it seemeth good in thy eyes; only deliver us, we pray thee, this time.
Da sprachen die Israeliten zu Jahwe: Wir haben gesündigt; verfahre mit uns ganz wie es dir gutdünkt, nur reiße uns jetzt heraus!
16 And they put away the strange gods from their midst, and served the Lord; and his soul was grieved for the trouble of Israel.
Sodann schafften sie die ausländischen Götter hinweg aus ihrem Bereich und verehrten Jahwe; da wurde er ungeduldig über das Elend Israels.
17 And the children of 'Ammon were called together, and they encamped in Gil'ad. And the children of Israel also assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
Da wurden die Ammoniter aufgeboten und lagerten sich in Gilead. Und die Israeliten sammelten sich und lagerten sich bei Mizpa.
18 And the people, the princes of Gil'ad, said one to another, Whatever man it be that will begin to fight against the children of 'Ammon, shall become the head over all the inhabitants of Gil'ad.
Aber das Volk, die Fürsten Gileads, sprachen zu einander: Wer ist der Mann, der den Kampf mit den Ammonitern eröffnet? Er soll das Haupt über alle Einwohner Gileads werden!
