< 1 Chronicles 8 >

1 And Benjamin begat Bela' his first-born, Ashbel the second, and Achrach the third,
Benjamin had five sons: Bela, Ashbel, Aharah,
2 Nochah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.
Nohah, and Rapha.
3 And Bela' had sons, Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,
The sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, Abihud,
4 And Abishua', and Na'aman, and Achoach,
Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,
5 And Gera, and Shephuphan, and Churam.
Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 And these are the sons of Echud: these are the heads of the family divisions of the inhabitants of Geba', who were exiled to Manachath;
[One of Gera’s sons was Ehud.] The descendants of Ehud were leaders of their clans who lived in Geba [city], but they were forced to move to Manahath [city].
7 Both Na'aman, and Achiyah; and Gera, —he exiled them, and begat 'Uzza, and Achichud.
Ehud’s sons/descendants were Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. Gera was the one who led them when they moved to Manahath. Gera was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
8 And Shacharayim begat children in the fields of Moab, after he had sent them away—Chushim and Ba'ara his wives.
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shaharaim]. He and his wife Hushim had two sons, Abitub and Elpaal. In [the] Moab [region], Shaharaim divorced Hushim and his other wife Baara. [Then he married a woman whose name was] Hodesh, and they had [seven sons]: Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. They were all leaders of their clans.
9 And he begat of Chodesh his wife, Jobab, and Zibya and Mesha, and Malkam,
10 And Je'uz, and Shabyah, and Mirmah. These were his sons, heads of family divisions.
11 And of Chushim he begat Abitub, and Elpa'al.
12 And the sons of Elpa'al: 'Eber, and Mish'am, and Shemer, who built Ono, and Lod, with its villages;
Elpaal’s sons were Eber, Misham, Shemed, Beriah, and Shema. Shemed built [the towns of] Ono and Lod, and the nearby villages. Beriah and Shema were leaders of their clans, who lived in Aijalon [city]. They forced the people who lived in Gath [city] to leave their city.
13 And Beri'ah, and Shema', who were the heads of the family divisions of the inhabitants of Ayalon; these were those who drove away the inhabitants of Gath;
14 And Achyo, Shashak, and Jeremoth.
Beriah’s sons were Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, Michael, Ishpah, and Joha.
15 And Zebadyah, and 'Arad, and 'Eder,
16 And Michael, and Yishpah, and Jocha, the sons of Beri'ah;
17 And Zebadyah, and Meshullam, and Chiski, and Cheber,
[Other] descendants of Elpaal were Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber,
18 And Yishmerai, and Yizliah, and Jobab, the sons of Elpa'al:
Ishmerai, Izliah, and Jobab.
19 And Jakim, and Zichri, and Zabdi,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shimei.] Shimei’s descendants included Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath.
20 And Eli'enai, and Zillethai, and Eliel,
21 And 'Adayah, and Berayah, and Shimrath, the sons of Shim'i:
22 And Yishpan, and 'Eber, and Eliel,
Shashak’s sons were Ishpan, Eber, Eliel,
23 And 'Abdon, and Zichri, and Chanan,
Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
24 And Chananyah, and 'Elam, and 'Anthothiyah,
Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah,
25 And Yiphdeyah, and Penuel, the sons of Shashak:
Iphdeiah, and Penuel.
26 And Shamsherai, and Shecharyah, and Athalyah,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeroham, whose sons were Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zicri.
27 And Ja'areshyah, and Eliyah, and Zichri, the sons of Jerocham.
28 These were the heads of the family divisions, by their generations, chief men. These dwelt in Jerusalem.
In the records of these clans it is written that all those men were leaders of their clans, and they lived in Jerusalem.
29 And at Gib'on dwelt the father of Gib'on, whose wife's name was Ma'achah;
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeiel. He lived in Gibeon [town], and he was the leader there. His wife was Maacah.
30 And his first-born son 'Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Ba'al, and Nadab,
His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
31 And Gedor, and Achyo, and Zecher.
Gedor, Ahio, Zeker,
32 And Mikloth begat Shimah. And these also dwelt alongside of their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren.
and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. All these sons of Jeiel also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
33 And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jehonathan and Malkishua', and Abinadab, and Eshba'al.
Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of [King] Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
34 And the son of Jehonathan was Merib-ba'al; and Merib-ba'al begat Michah.
Jonathan’s son was Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.
35 And the sons of Michah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea', and Achaz.
Micah’s sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 And Achaz begat Jeho'addah; and Jeho'addah begat 'Alemeth, and 'Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza;
Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
37 And Moza begat Bin'ah; Rapha was his son, El'assah his son, Azel his son.
Moza was the father of Binea. The son of Binea was Raphah. The son of Raphah was Eleasah. The son of Eleasah was Azel.
38 And Azel had six sons, and these are their names, 'Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and She'aryah, and 'Obadiah, and Chanan. All these were the sons of Azel.
Azel had six sons: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.
39 And the sons of 'Eshek his brother were, Ulam his first-born, Je'ush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
Azel’s [younger] brother was Eshek. Eshek’s oldest son was Ulam. His other sons were Jeush and Eliphelet.
40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valor, who drew the bow, and had many sons, and sons' sons, one hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.
Ulam’s sons were brave warriors and (good archers/able to shoot arrows well). Altogether they had 150 sons and grandsons. Those were the descendants of Benjamin.
