Psalms 90

1 A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, you have been our refuge in all generations.

神の人モーセの祈 主よ、あなたは世々われらのすみかでいらせられる。

2 Before the mountains existed, and [before] the earth and the world were formed, even from age to age, You are.

山がまだ生れず、あなたがまだ地と世界とを造られなかったとき、とこしえからとこしえまで、あなたは神でいらせられる。

3 Turn not man back to [his] low place, whereas you said, Return, you sons of men?

あなたは人をちりに帰らせて言われます、「人の子よ、帰れ」と。

4 For a thousand years in your sight are as the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.

あなたの目の前には千年も過ぎ去ればきのうのごとく、夜の間のひと時のようです。

5 Years shall be vanity to them: let the morning pass away as grass.

あなたは人を大水のように流れ去らせられます。彼らはひと夜の夢のごとく、あしたにもえでる青草のようです。

6 In the morning let it flower, and pass away: in the evening let it droop, let it be withered and dried up.

あしたにもえでて、栄えるが、夕べには、しおれて枯れるのです。

7 For we have perished in your anger, and in your wrath we have been troubled.

われらはあなたの怒りによって消えうせ、あなたの憤りによって滅び去るのです。

8 You have set our transgressions before you: our age is in the light of your countenance.

あなたはわれらの不義をみ前におき、われらの隠れた罪をみ顔の光のなかにおかれました。

9 For all our days are gone, and we have passed away in your wrath: our years have spun out their tale as a spider.

われらのすべての日は、あなたの怒りによって過ぎ去り、われらの年の尽きるのは、ひと息のようです。

10 [As for] the days of our years, in them are seventy years; and if [men should be] in strength, eighty years: and the greater part of them would be labor and trouble; for weakness overtakes us, and we shall be chastened.

われらのよわいは七十年にすぎません。あるいは健やかであっても八十年でしょう。しかしその一生はただ、ほねおりと悩みであって、その過ぎゆくことは速く、われらは飛び去るのです。

11 Who knows the power of your wrath?

だれがあなたの怒りの力を知るでしょうか。だれがあなたをおそれる恐れにしたがってあなたの憤りを知るでしょうか。

12 and [who knows how] to number [his days] because of the fear of your wrath? So manifest your right hand, and those that are instructed in wisdom in the heart.

われらにおのが日を数えることを教えて、知恵の心を得させてください。

13 Return, O Lord, how long? and be entreated concerning your servants.

主よ、み心を変えてください。いつまでお怒りになるのですか。あなたのしもべをあわれんでください。

14 We have been satisfied in the morning with your mercy; and we did exult and rejoice:

あしたに、あなたのいつくしみをもってわれらを飽き足らせ、世を終るまで喜び楽しませてください。

15 let us rejoice in all our days, in return for the days wherein you did afflict us, the years wherein we saw evil.

あなたがわれらを苦しめられた多くの日と、われらが災にあった多くの年とに比べて、われらを楽しませてください。

16 And look upon your servants, and upon your works; and guide their children.

あなたのみわざを、あなたのしもべらに、あなたの栄光を、その子らにあらわしてください。

17 And let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us: and do you direct for us the works of our hands.

われらの神、主の恵みを、われらの上にくだし、われらの手のわざを、われらの上に栄えさせてください。われらの手のわざを栄えさせてください。
