Psalms 25
1 A Psalm of David. To you, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
De David. Vers toi, Eternel, j’élève mon âme!
2 O my God, I have trusted in you: let me not be confounded, neither let mine enemies laugh me to scorn.
Mon Dieu! en toi je me confie, que je ne sois pas déçu! Que mes ennemis ne triomphent pas de moi!
3 For none of them that wait on you shall in any wise be ashamed: let them be ashamed that transgress without cause.
Aussi bien, ceux qui espèrent en toi n’ont pas à rougir; seuls rougiront ceux qui, gratuitement, se montrent perfides.
4 Show me your ways, O Lord; and teach me your paths.
Fais-moi connaître tes voies, ô Seigneur! Enseigne-moi tes sentiers.
5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are God my Saviour: and I have waited on you all the day.
Dirige-moi dans ta vérité, instruis-moi, car tu es le Dieu de mon salut: en toi j’espère tout le temps.
6 Remember your compassions, O Lord, and your mercies, for they are from everlasting.
Souviens-toi, Eternel, de tes bontés et de tes grâces, car elles existent de toute éternité.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor [my sins] of ignorance: remember me according to your mercy, for your goodness' sake, O Lord.
Les erreurs de ma jeunesse, mes fautes, oublie-les; souviens-toi seulement de moi selon ta miséricorde, pour l’amour de ta bonté, ô Seigneur!
8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he instruct sinners in [the] way.
L’Eternel est bon et droit, aussi montre-t-il aux pécheurs le vrai chemin.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: the meek will he teach his ways.
Il dirige les humbles dans le bon droit, et enseigne sa voie aux misérables.
10 All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth to them that seek his covenant and his testimonies.
Toutes les voies de l’Eternel sont grâce et bienveillance, pour ceux qui respectent son alliance et ses statuts.
11 For your name's sake, O Lord, do you also be merciful to my sin; for it is great.
En faveur de ton nom, Seigneur, pardonne mon iniquité, si grande qu’elle puisse être.
12 Who is the man that fears the Lord? he shall instruct him in the way which he has chosen.
Quel est l’homme qui craint l’Eternel? Il le guidera dans le chemin qui a sa préférence.
13 His soul shall dwell in prosperity; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
Son âme vivra au sein du bonheur, et sa postérité prendra possession du pays.
14 The Lord is the strength of them that fear him; and his covenant is to manifest [truth] to them.
L’Eternel communique ses mystères à ses adorateurs, il leur révèle son alliance.
15 Mine eyes are continually to the Lord; for he shall draw my feet out of the snare.
Constamment mes yeux se dirigent vers le Seigneur, car c’est lui qui dégage mes pieds du filet.
16 Look upon me, and have mercy upon me; for I am an only child and poor.
Tourne-toi vers moi et prends-moi en pitié, car je suis isolé et pauvre.
17 The afflictions of my heart have been multiplied; deliver me from my distresses.
Que les angoisses qui serrent mon cœur se relâchent! Délivre-moi de mes tourments.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my trouble; and forgive all my sins.
Vois ma misère et mes peines, fais disparaître tous mes péchés.
19 Look upon mine enemies; for they have been multiplied; and they have hated me with unjust hatred.
Vois mes ennemis, comme ils sont nombreux, et comme ils me poursuivent d’une haine violente.
20 Keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I have hoped in you.
Protège mon âme et sauve-moi; que je ne sois pas confondu, moi qui m’abrite en toi.
21 The harmless and upright joined themselves to me: for I waited for you, O Lord.
Que la loyauté et la droiture soient ma sauvegarde! Car j’ai mis mon espoir en toi.
22 Deliver Israel, O God, out of all his afflictions.
O Dieu! Délivre Israël de toutes ses détresses.
