Numbers 25
1 And Israel sojourned in Sattin, and the people profaned itself by going a-whoring after the daughters of Moab.
Und Israel wohnte in Sittim. Und das Volk hub an zu huren mit der Moabiter Töchtern,
2 And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.
welche luden das Volk zum Opfer ihrer Götter. Und das Volk aß und betete ihre Götter an.
3 And Israel consecrated themselves to Beel-phegor; and the Lord was very angry with Israel.
Und Israel hängete sich an den Baal Peor. Da ergrimmete des HERRN Zorn über Israel,
4 And the Lord said to Moses, Take all the princes of the people, and make them examples [of judgment] for the Lord in the face of the sun, and the anger of the Lord shall be turned away from Israel.
und sprach zu Mose: Nimm alle Obersten des Volks und hänge sie dem HERRN an die Sonne, auf daß der grimmige Zorn des HERRN von Israel gewandt werde.
5 And Moses said to the tribes of Israel, Slay you every one his friend that is consecrated to Beel-phegor.
Und Mose sprach zu den Richtern Israels: Erwürge ein jeglicher seine Leute, die sich an den Baal-Peor gehänget haben.
6 And, behold, a man of the children of Israel came and brought his brother to a Madianitish woman before Moses, and before all the congregation of the children of Israel; and they were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of witness.
Und siehe, ein Mann aus den Kindern Israel kam und brachte unter seine Brüder eine Midianitin und ließ Mose zusehen und die ganze Gemeine der Kinder Israel, die da weineten vor der Tür der Hütte des Stifts.
7 And Phinees the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, and rose out of the midst of the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand,
Da das sah der Sohn Eleasars, des Sohns Aarons, des Priesters, stund er auf aus der Gemeine und nahm einen Spieß in seine Hand,
8 and went in after the Israelitish man into the chamber, and pierced them both through, both the Israelitish man, and the woman through her womb; and the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
und ging dem israelitischen Manne nach hinein in den Hurenwinkel und durchstach sie beide, den israelitischen Mann und das Weib, durch ihren Bauch. Da hörete die Plage auf von den Kindern Israel.
9 And those that died in the plague were four and twenty thousand.
Und es wurden getötet in der Plage vierundzwanzigtausend.
10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:
11 Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest has caused my wrath to cease from the children of Israel, when I was exceedingly jealous among them, and I did not consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.
Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, des Sohns Aarons, des Priesters, hat meinen Grimm von den Kindern Israel gewendet durch seinen Eifer um mich, daß ich nicht in meinem Eifer die Kinder Israel vertilgete.
12 Thus do you say [to him], Behold, I give him a covenant of peace:
Darum sage: Siehe, ich gebe ihm meinen Bund des Friedens;
13 and he and his seed after him shall have a perpetual covenant of priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.
und er soll haben, und sein Same nach ihm, den Bund eines ewigen Priestertums, darum daß er für seinen Gott geeifert und die Kinder Israel versöhnet hat.
14 Now the name of the struck Israelitish man, who was struck with the Madianitish woman, [was] Zambri son of Salmon, prince of a house of the tribe of Symeon.
Der israelitische Mann aber, der erschlagen ward mit der Midianitin, hieß Simri, der Sohn Salus, ein Fürst im Hause des Vaters der Simeoniter.
15 And the name of the Madianitish woman who was struck, [was] Chasbi, daughter of Sur, a prince of the nation of Ommoth: it is a chief house among the people of Madiam.
Das midianitische Weib, das auch erschlagen ward, hieß Kasbi, eine Tochter Zurs, der ein Fürst war eines Geschlechts unter den Midianitern.
16 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying,
Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:
17 Plague the Madianites as enemies, and strike them,
Tut den Midianitern Schaden und schlaget sie;
18 for they are enemies to you by the treachery wherein they ensnare you through Phogor, and through Chasbi their sister, daughter of a prince of Madiam, who was struck in the day of the plague because of Phogor.
denn sie haben euch Schaden getan mit ihrer List, die sie euch gestellet haben durch den Peor und durch ihre Schwester Kasbi, die Tochter des Fürsten der Midianiter, die erschlagen ist am Tage der Plage um des Peors willen, und die Plage danach kam.
