Lamentations 3
1 ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
Я той муж, який бачив біду́ від жезла́ Його гніву, —
2 He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
Він прова́див мене й допрова́див до те́мряви, а не до світла.
3 Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
Лиш на мене все зно́ву обе́ртає руку Свою́ цілий день.
4 He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
Він ви́снажив тіло моє й мою шкіру, мої кості сторо́щив,
5 BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
обгородив Він мене, і мене оточи́в гіркото́ю та му́кою,
6 He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
у темно́ті мене посадив, мов померлих давно́.
7 He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
Обгороди́в Він мене — і не ви́йду, тяжки́ми вчинив Він кайда́ни мої.
8 GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
І коли я кричу́ й голошу́, затикає Він вуха Свої на молитву мою,
9 DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
Камінням обте́саним обгородив Він доро́ги мої, повикри́влював стежки́ мої.
10 he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
Він для мене ведме́дем чату́ючим став, немов лев той у схо́вищі!
11 He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
Поплутав доро́ги мої та розша́рпав мене́, учинив Він мене опусто́шеним!
12 HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Натягнув Свого лука й поставив мене, наче ціль для стріли́, —
13 He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
пустив стрі́ли до ни́рок моїх з Свого сагайдака́
14 I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
Для всього наро́ду свого я став посміхо́виськом, глумли́вою піснею їхньою цілий день.
15 VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
Наси́тив мене гіркото́ю, мене напоїв полино́м.
16 And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
І стер мені зу́би жорство́ю, до по́пелу кинув мене,
17 He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
і душа моя спо́кій згубила, забув я добро́.
18 Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
І сказав я: Загублена сила моя, та моє сподіва́ння на Господа.
19 ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
Згадай про біду́ мою й му́ку мою, про поли́н та отру́ту, —
20 and my soul shall meditate with me.
душа моя згадує безпереста́нку про це, і гнеться в мені.
21 This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
Оце я нага́дую серцеві своєму, тому то я маю надію:
22 HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
Це милість Господня, що ми не поги́нули, бо не нокінчи́лось Його милосердя, —
23 [They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
нове́ воно кожного ра́нку, велика бо вірність Твоя!
24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
Господь — це мій у́діл, — говорить душа моя, — тому́ я надію на Нього склада́ю!
25 TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
Господь добрий для тих, хто наді́ю на Нього кладе́, для душі, що шукає Його́!
26 [is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
Добре, коли люди́на в мовча́нні надію кладе́ на спасі́ння Господнє.
27 TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
Добре для мужа, як носить ярмо́ в своїй мо́лодості, —
28 He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
нехай він самі́тно сидить і мовчить, як поклав Він на нього його́;
хай закриє він по́рохом у́ста свої, може є ще надія;
30 JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
хай що́ку тому підставля́є, хто його б'є, своєю ганьбою наси́чується.
31 For the Lord will not reject for ever.
Бо Господь не наві́ки ж покине!
32 CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
Бо хоч Він і засму́тить кого, проте зми́лується за Своєю великою ми́лістю, —
33 He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
бо не мучить Він з серця Свого́, і не засмучує лю́дських синів.
34 LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Щоб топта́ти під своїми ногами всіх в'я́знів землі,
35 to turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the Most High,
щоб перед обличчям Всевишнього право люди́ни зігнути,
36 to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgment, the Lord has not given commandment.
щоб гноби́ти люди́ну у справі судо́вій його́, — оцьо́го не має на оці Госпо́дь!
37 Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
Хто то скаже — і станеться це, як Господь того не наказав?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
Хіба не виходить усе з уст Всевишнього, — зле та добре?
39 MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
Чого ж нарікає люди́на жива? Нехай ска́ржиться кожен на гріх свій.
40 NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
Пошукаймо доріг своїх та досліді́мо, і верні́мось до Господа!
41 Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
підіймі́мо своє серце та руки до Бога на небі!
42 We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
Спроневі́рились ми й неслухня́ними стали, тому́ не пробачив Ти нам,
43 SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
закрився Ти гнівом і гнав нас, убивав, не помилував,
44 You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
закрив Себе хмарою, щоб до Тебе молитва моя не дійшла.
45 and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
Сміття́м та оги́дою нас Ти вчинив між наро́дами,
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
наші всі вороги́ пороззявля́ли на нас свого рота,
47 Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
страх та яма на нас поприхо́дили, руїна й погибіль.
48 Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Моє око сплива́є пото́ками во́дними через нещастя дочки́ мого люду.
49 PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
Виливається око моє безупи́нно, нема бо пере́рви,
50 until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
аж поки не згля́неться та не побачить Госпо́дь із небе́с, —
51 Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
моє око вчиняє журбу́ для моєї душі через до́чок усіх мого міста.
52 TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
Ло́влячи, ло́влять мене, немов птаха, мої вороги безпричи́нно,
53 and laid a stone upon me.
життя моє в яму замкну́ли вони, і камі́ннями кинули в мене.
54 Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
Пливуть мені во́ди на го́лову, я говорю́: „ Вже погу́блений я!“
55 KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
Кликав я, Господи, Йме́ння Твоє́ із найглибшої ями,
56 You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
Ти чуєш мій голос, — не захо́вуй же ву́ха Свого від зо́йку мого́, від блага́ння мого!
57 You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
Ти близьки́й того дня, коли кличу Тебе, Ти говориш: „Не бійся!“
58 RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
За душу мою Ти змагався, о Господи, життя моє викупив Ти.
59 You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
Ти бачиш, о Господи, кривду мою, — розсуди ж Ти мій суд!
60 You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
Усю їхню по́мсту ти бачиш, всі за́думи їхні на мене,
61 CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
Ти чуєш, о Господи, їхні нару́ги, всі за́думи їхні на ме́не,
62 the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
мову повста́нців на мене та їхнє буркоті́ння на мене ввесь день.
63 their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
Побач їхнє сиді́ння та їхнє встава́ння, — як за́вжди глумли́ва їхня пісня!
64 You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
Заплати їм, о Господи, згідно з чином їхніх рук!
65 THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
Подай їм темно́ту на серце, прокля́ття Твоє нехай буде на них!
66 You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
Своїм гнівом жени їх, і ви́губи їх з-під Господніх небе́с!
