Job 34
1 And Elius continued, and said,
Und Elihu antwortete und sprach:
2 Hear me, you wise men; listen, you that have knowledge.
Höret, ihr Weisen, meine Rede, und ihr Verständigen, merket auf mich!
3 For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat.
Denn das Ohr prüfet die Rede, und der Mund schmecket die Speise.
4 Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know amount ourselves what is right.
Laßt uns ein Urteil erwählen, daß wir erkennen unter uns, was gut sei.
5 For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.
Denn Hiob hat gesagt: Ich bin gerecht, und Gott weigert mir mein Recht.
6 And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness [of mine].
Ich muß lügen, ob ich wohl recht habe, und bin gequälet von meinen Pfeilen, ob ich wohl nichts verschuldet habe.
7 What man is as Job, drinking scorning like water?
Wer ist ein solcher wie Hiob, der da Spötterei trinket wie Wasser
8 [saying], I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.
und auf dem Wege gehet mit den Übeltätern und wandelt mit den gottlosen Leuten?
9 For you should not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas [there is] a visitation on him from the Lord.
Denn er hat gesagt: Wenn jemand schon fromm ist, so gilt er doch nichts bei Gott.
10 Therefore hear me, you that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the almighty.
Darum höret mir zu, ihr weisen Leute: Es sei ferne, daß Gott sollte gottlos sein und der Allmächtige ungerecht,
11 Yes, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him.
sondern er vergilt dem Menschen, danach er verdienet hat, und trifft einen jeglichen nach seinem Tun.
12 And think you that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment?
Ohne Zweifel, Gott verdammet niemand mit Unrecht, und der Allmächtige beuget das Recht nicht.
13 And who is he that made [the whole world] under heaven, and all things therein?
Wer hat, das auf Erden ist, verordnet, und wer hat den ganzen Erdboden gesetzt?
14 For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself;
So er sich's würde unterwinden, so würde er aller Geist und Odem zu sich sammeln.
15 all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed.
Alles Fleisch würde miteinander vergehen, und der Mensch würde wieder zu Asche werden.
16 Take heed lest he rebuke [you]: hear this, listen to the voice of words.
Hast du nun Verstand, so höre das und merke auf die Stimme meiner Rede.
17 Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just.
Sollte einer darum das Recht zwingen, daß er's hasset? Und daß du stolz bist, solltest du darum den Gerechten verdammen?
18 [He is] ungodly that says to a king, You are a transgressor, [that says] to princes, O most ungodly one.
Sollt einer zum Könige sagen: Du loser Mann! und zu den Fürsten: Ihr Gottlosen!?
19 [Such a one] as would not reverence the face of an honorable man, neither knows how to give honor to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.
Der doch nicht ansiehet die Person der Fürsten und kennet den HERRLIchen nicht mehr denn den Armen; denn sie sind alle seiner Hände Werk.
20 But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside [from their right].
Plötzlich müssen die Leute sterben und zu Mitternacht erschrecken und vergehen; die Mächtigen werden kraftlos weggenommen.
21 For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him.
Denn seine Augen sehen auf eines jeglichen Wege, und er schaut alle ihre Gänge.
22 Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.
Es ist kein Finsternis noch Dunkel, daß sich da möchten verbergen die Übeltäter.
23 For he will not lay upon a man more [than right].
Denn es wird niemand gestattet, daß er mit Gott rechte.
24 For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number.
Er bringet der Stolzen viel um, die nicht zu zählen sind, und stellet andere an ihre Statt,
25 Who discovers their works, and will bring night about [upon them], and they shall be brought low.
darum daß er kennet ihre Werke und kehret sie um des Nachts, daß sie zerschlagen werden.
26 And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him.
Er wirft die Gottlosen über einen Haufen, da man's gerne siehet,
27 Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,
darum daß sie von ihm weggewichen sind und verstunden seiner Wege keinen,
28 so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.
daß das Schreien der Armen mußte vor ihn kommen, und er das Schreien der Elenden hörete.
29 And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether [it be done] against a nation, or against a man also:
Wenn er Frieden gibt, wer will verdammen? und wenn er das Antlitz verbirget, wer will ihn schauen unter den Völkern und Leuten?
30 causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.
Und läßt über sie regieren einen Heuchler, das Volk zu drängen.
31 For [there is] one that says to the Mighty One, I have received [blessings]; I will not take a pledge:
Ich muß für Gott reden und kann's nicht lassen.
32 I will see apart from myself: do you show me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do [so] any more.
Hab ich's nicht getroffen, so lehre du mich's besser; hab ich unrecht gehandelt, ich will's nicht mehr tun.
33 Will he take vengeance for it on you, whereas you will put [it] far [from you]? for you shall choose, and not I; and what you know, speak you.
Man wartet der Antwort von dir, denn du verwirfst alles; und du hast's angefangen und nicht ich. Weißest du nun was, so sage an!
34 Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word.
Weise Leute lasse ich mir sagen, und ein weiser Mann gehorchet mir.
35 But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not [uttered] with knowledge.
Aber Hiob redete mit Unverstand, und seine Worte sind nicht klug.
36 Howbeit do you learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish:
Mein Vater! laß Hiob versucht werden bis ans Ende, darum daß er sich zu unrechten Leuten kehret.
37 that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if [we] speak many words before the Lord.
Er hat über seine Sünde dazu noch gelästert; darum laß Ihn zwischen uns geschlagen werden und danach viel wider Gott plaudern.
