Daniel 5
1 Baltasar the king made a great supper for his thousand nobles, and [there was] wine before the thousand.
König Belsazer machte ein herrlich Mahl tausend seinen Gewaltigen und Hauptleuten und soff sich voll mit ihnen.
2 And Baltasar drinking gave orders as he tasted the wine that they should bring the gold and silver vessels, which Nabuchodonosor his father had brought forth from the temple in Jerusalem; that the king, and his nobles, and his mistresses, and his concubines, should drink out of them.
Und da er trunken war, hieß er die güldenen und silbernen Gefäße herbringen, die sein Vater Nebukadnezar aus dem Tempel zu Jerusalem weggenommen hatte, daß der König mit seinen Gewaltigen, mit seinen Weibern und mit seinen Kebsweibern daraus tränken.
3 So the gold and silver vessels were brought which [Nabuchodonosor] had taken out of the temple of God in Jerusalem; and the king, and his nobles, and his mistresses, and his concubines, drank out of them.
Also wurden hergebracht die güldenen Gefäße, die aus dem Tempel, aus dem Hause Gottes zu Jerusalem, genommen wären; und der König, seine Gewaltigen, seine Weiber und Kebsweiber tranken daraus.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of iron, and of wood, and of stone.
Und da sie so soffen, lobten sie die güldenen, silbernen, ehernen, eisernen, hölzernen und steinernen Götter.
5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote in front of the lamp on the plaster of the wall of the king's house: and the king saw the knuckles of the hand that wrote.
Eben zur selbigen Stunde gingen hervor Finger, als einer Menschenhand, die schrieben, gegenüber dem Leuchter, auf die getünchte Wand in dem königlichen Saal. Und der König ward gewahr der Hand, die da schrieb.
6 Then the king's countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, and the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees struck one another.
Da entfärbte sich der König, und seine Gedanken erschreckten ihn, daß ihm die Lenden schütterten und die Beine zitterten.
7 And the king cried aloud to bring in the magicians, Chaldeans, [and] soothsayers; and he said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and make known to me the interpretation, shall be clothed with scarlet, and [there shall be] a golden chain upon his neck, and he shall be the third ruler in my kingdom.
Und der König rief überlaut, daß man die Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager heraufbringen sollte Und ließ den Weisen zu Babel sagen: Welcher Mensch diese Schrift lieset und sagen kann, was sie bedeute, der soll mit Purpur gekleidet werden und güldene Ketten am Halse tragen und der dritte HERR sein in meinem Königreiche.
8 Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known the interpretation to the king.
Da wurden alle Weisen des Königs heraufgebracht; aber sie konnten weder die Schrift lesen noch die Deutung dem Könige anzeigen.
9 And king Baltasar was troubled, and his countenance changed upon him, and his nobles were troubled with him.
Des erschrak der König Belsazer noch härter und verlor ganz seine Gestalt, und seinen Gewaltigen ward bange.
10 Then the queen came into the banquet house, and said, O king, live for ever: let not your thoughts trouble you, and let not your countenance be changed.
Da ging die Königin um solcher Sache willen des Königs und seiner Gewaltigen hinauf in den Saal und sprach: HERR König, Gott verleihe dir langes Leben! Laß dich deine Gedanken nicht so erschrecken und entfärbe dich nicht also!
11 There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the Spirit of God; and in the days of your father watchfulness and understanding were found in him; and king Nabuchodonosor your father made him chief of the enchanters, magicians, Chaldeans, [and] soothsayers.
Es ist ein Mann in deinem Königreich, der den Geist der heiligen Götter hat. Denn zu deines Vaters Zeit ward bei ihm Erleuchtung erfunden, Klugheit und Weisheit, wie der Götter Weisheit ist; und dein Vater, König Nebukadnezar, setzte ihn über die Sternseher, Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager,
12 For [there is] an excellent spirit in him, and sense and understanding in him, interpreting dreams [as he does], and answering hard [questions], and solving difficulties: [it is] Daniel, and the king gave him the name of Baltasar: now then let him be called, and he shall tell you the interpretation of the writing.
darum daß ein hoher Geist bei ihm funden ward, dazu Verstand und Klugheit, Sprüche zu deuten, dunkle Sprüche zu erraten und verborgene Sachen zu offenbaren, nämlich Daniel, den der König ließ Beltsazar nennen. So rufe man nun Daniel; der wird sagen, was es bedeute.
13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king: and the king said to Daniel, Are you Daniel, of the children of the captivity of Judea, which the king my father brought?
Da ward Daniel hinauf vor den König gebracht. Und der König sprach zu Daniel: Bist du der Daniel, der Gefangenen einer aus Juda, die der König, mein Vater, aus Juda hergebracht hat?
14 I have heard concerning you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and [that] watchfulness and understanding and excellent wisdom have been found in you.
Ich habe von dir hören sagen, daß du den Geist der heiligen Götter habest, und Erleuchtung, Verstand und hohe Weisheit bei dir funden sei.
15 And now, the wise men, magicians, [and] soothsayers, have come in before me, to read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation: but they could not tell it me.
Nun hab ich vor mich fordern lassen die Klugen und Weisen, daß sie mir diese Schrift lesen und anzeigen sollen, was sie bedeute; und sie können mir nicht sagen, was solches bedeute.
16 And I have heard concerning you, that you are able to make interpretations: now then if you shall be able to read the writing, and to make known to me the interpretation of it, you shall be clothed with purple, and there shall be a golden chain upon your neck, and you shall be third ruler in my kingdom.
Von dir aber höre ich, daß du könnest die Deutung geben und das Verborgene offenbaren. Kannst du nun die Schrift lesen und mir anzeigen, was sie bedeutet, so sollst du mit Purpur gekleidet werden und güldene Ketten an deinem Halse tragen und der dritte HERR sein in meinem Königreiche.
17 And Daniel said, before the king, Let your gifts be to yourself, and give the present of your house to another; but I will read the writing, and will make known to you the interpretation of it.
Da fing Daniel an und redete vor dem Könige: Behalte deine Gaben selbst und gib dein Geschenk einem andern; ich will dennoch die Schrift dem Könige lesen und anzeigen, was sie bedeute.
18 O king, the most high God gave to your father Nabuchodonosor a kingdom, and majesty, and honor, and glory:
HERR König, Gott der Höchste hat deinem Vater, Nebukadnezar, Königreich, Macht, Ehre und HERRLIchkeit gegeben.
19 and by reason of the majesty which he gave to him, all nations, tribes, [and] languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he killed; and whom he would he struck; and whom he would he exalted; and whom he would he abased.
Und vor solcher Macht, die ihm gegeben war, fürchteten und scheueten sich vor ihm alle Völker, Leute und Zungen. Er tötete, wen er wollte; er schlug, wen er wollte; er erhöhete, wen er wollte; er demütigte, wen er wollte.
20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was emboldened to act proudly, he was deposed from his royal throne, and [his] honor was taken from him.
Da sich aber sein Herz erhub und er stolz und hochmütig ward, ward er vom königlichen Stuhl gestoßen und verlor seine Ehre;
21 And he was driven forth from men; and his heart was given him after the nature of wild beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; and they fed him with grass as an ox, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the most high God is Lord of the kingdom of men, and will give it to whoever he shall please.
und ward verstoßen von den Leuten, und sein Herz ward gleich den Tieren, und mußte bei dem Wild laufen und fraß Gras wie Ochsen, und sein Leib lag unter dem Tau des Himmels und ward naß, bis daß er lernete, daß Gott der Höchste Gewalt hat über der Menschen Königreiche und gibt sie, wem er will.
22 And you accordingly, his son, O Baltasar, has not humbled your heart before God: know you not all this?
Und du, Belsazer, sein Sohn, hast dein Herz nicht gedemütiget, ob du wohl solches alles weißt,
23 And you has been exalted against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of his house, and you, and your nobles, and your mistresses, and your concubines, have drunk wine out of them; and you has praised the gods of gold, and silver, and brass, and iron, and wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God in whose hand are your breath, and all your ways has you not glorified.
sondern hast dich wider den HERRN des Himmels erhoben, und die Gefäße seines Hauses hat man vor dich bringen müssen; und du, deine Gewaltigen, deine Weiber und deine Kebsweiber habt daraus gesoffen, dazu die silbernen, güldenen, ehernen, eisernen, hölzernen, steinernen Götter gelobet, die weder sehen, noch hören, noch fühlen; den Gott aber, der deinen Odem und alle deine Wege in seiner Hand hat, hast du nicht geehret.
24 Therefore from his presence has been sent forth the knuckle of a hand; and he has ordered the writing.
Darum ist von ihm gesandt diese Hand und diese Schrift, die da verzeichnet stehen.
25 And this is the ordered writing, Mane, Thekel, Phares.
Das ist aber die Schrift allda verzeichnet: Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin.
26 This is the interpretation of the sentence: Mane; God has measured your kingdom, and finished it.
Und sie bedeutet dies: Mene, das ist, Gott hat dein Königreich gezählet und vollendet.
27 Thekel; it has been weighed in the balance, and found lacking.
Tekel, das ist, man hat dich in einer Waage gewogen und zu leicht funden.
28 Phares; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
Peres, das ist, dein Königreich ist zerteilet und den Medern und Persern gegeben.
29 Then Baltasar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put the golden chain about his neck, and proclaimed concerning him that he was the third ruler in the kingdom.
Da befahl Belsazer, daß man Daniel mit Purpur kleiden sollte und güldene Ketten an den Hals geben; und ließ von ihm verkündigen, daß er der dritte HERR sei im Königreich.
30 In the same night was Baltasar the Chaldean king slain.
Aber des Nachts ward der Chaldäer König Belsazer getötet.
31 And Darius the Mede succeeded to the kingdom, being sixty-two years [old].
Und Darius aus Medien nahm das Reich ein, da er zweiundsechzig Jahre alt war.
