Proverbs 2

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Synu mój, jeśli przyjmiesz moje słowa i zachowasz u siebie moje przykazania;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, [and] apply thine heart to understanding;

Nadstawiając swego ucha na mądrość i nakłaniając swe serce ku rozumowi;

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, [and] liftest up thy voice for understanding;

Tak, jeśli przywołasz roztropność i swoim głosem wezwiesz rozum;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as [for] hid treasures;

Jeśli będziesz jej szukać jak srebra i poszukiwać jej jak ukrytych skarbów;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Wtedy zrozumiesz bojaźń PANA i dojdziesz do poznania Boga.

6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding.

PAN bowiem daje mądrość, z jego ust [pochodzi] wiedza i rozum.

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: [he is] a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

On [zachowuje] prawdziwą mądrość dla prawych; [on jest] tarczą dla tych, którzy postępują uczciwie;

8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Strzeże ścieżek sądu i chroni drogę swoich świętych.

9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; [yea], every good path.

Wtedy zrozumiesz sprawiedliwość, sąd, prawość i wszelką dobrą ścieżkę.

10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Gdy mądrość wejdzie do twojego serca i wiedza będzie miła twojej duszy;

11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

[Wtedy] rozwaga będzie cię strzegła i rozum cię zachowa.

12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil [man], from the man that speaketh froward things;

By uwolnić cię od złej drogi [i] od człowieka, który mówi przewrotnie;

13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

[Od tych], którzy opuszczają ścieżki prawości, żeby chodzić drogami ciemności;

14 Who rejoice to do evil, [and] delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

[Którzy] się radują, gdy czynią zło, a cieszą się w złośliwej przewrotności;

15 Whose ways [are] crooked, and [they] froward in their paths:

Których ścieżki są kręte i [sami] są przewrotni na swoich drogach;

16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, [even] from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words;

Aby cię uwolnić od cudzej kobiety, od obcej, która pochlebia łagodnymi słowami;

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

Która opuszcza przewodnika swojej młodości i zapomina o przymierzu swojego Boga;

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

Bo jej dom chyli się ku śmierci, a jej ścieżki ku umarłym;

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Nikt z tych, którzy do niej wchodzą, nie wraca ani nie trafia na ścieżkę życia;

20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good [men], and keep the paths of the righteous.

Abyś chodził drogą dobrych i przestrzegał ścieżek sprawiedliwych.

21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Prawi bowiem będą mieszkali na ziemi i nienaganni na niej pozostaną;

22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Ale niegodziwi będą wykorzenieni z ziemi i przewrotni będą z niej wyrwani.
