Proverbs 14
1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Toda a mulher sabia edifica a sua casa: mas a tola a derriba com as suas mãos.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him.
O que anda na sua sinceridade teme ao Senhor, mas o que se desvia de seus caminhos o despreza.
3 In the mouth of the foolish [is] a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Na bocca do tolo está a vara da soberba, mas os labios dos sabios os conservam.
4 Where no oxen [are], the crib [is] clean: but much increase [is] by the strength of the ox.
Não havendo bois, a mangedoura está limpa, mas pela força do boi ha abundancia de colheitas.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
A testemunha verdadeira não mentirá, mas a testemunha falsa se desboca em mentiras.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not: but knowledge [is] easy unto him that understandeth.
O escarnecedor busca sabedoria, e nenhuma acha, mas para o prudente o conhecimento é facil.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not [in him] the lips of knowledge.
Vae-te de diante do homem insensato, porque n'elle não divisarás os labios do conhecimento.
8 The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way: but the folly of fools [is] deceit.
A sabedoria do prudente é entender o seu caminho, mas a estulticia dos tolos é engano.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous [there is] favour.
Os loucos zombam do peccado, mas entre os rectos ha benevolencia.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
O coração conhece a sua propria amargura, e o estranho não se entremetterá na sua alegria.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
A casa dos impios se desfará, mas a tenda dos rectos florescerá.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
Ha caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o fim d'elle são os caminhos da morte.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth [is] heaviness.
Até no riso terá dôr o coração, e o fim da alegria é tristeza.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
Dos seus caminhos se fartará o que declina no coração, mas o homem bom se fartará de si mesmo.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent [man] looketh well to his going.
O simples dá credito a cada palavra, mas o prudente attenta para os seus passos.
16 A wise [man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
O sabio teme, e desvia-se do mal, mas o tolo se encoleriza, e dá-se por seguro.
17 [He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
O que presto se indigna, fará doidices, e o homem de más imaginações será aborrecido.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Os simplices herdarão a estulticia, mas os prudentes se coroarão de conhecimento.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Os máus se inclinaram diante dos bons, e os impios diante das portas do justo.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich [hath] many friends.
O pobre é aborrecido até do companheiro, porém os amigos dos ricos são muitos.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.
O que despreza ao seu companheiro pecca, mas o que se compadece dos humildes é bemaventurado.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth [shall be] to them that devise good.
Porventura não erram os que obram o mal? mas beneficencia e fidelidade serão para os que obram o bem.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
Em todo o trabalho proveito ha, mas a palavra dos labios só encaminha á pobreza.
24 The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
A corôa dos sabios é a sua riqueza, a estulticia dos tolos é só estulticia.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful [witness] speaketh lies.
A testemunha verdadeira livra as almas, mas o que se desboca em mentiras é enganador.
26 In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
No temor do Senhor ha firme confiança, e elle será um refugio para seus filhos.
27 The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
O temor do Senhor é uma fonte de vida, para se desviarem dos laços da morte.
28 In the multitude of people [is] the king’s honour: but in the want of people [is] the destruction of the prince.
Na multidão do povo está a magnificencia do rei, mas na falta do povo a perturbação do principe.
29 [He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
O longanimo é grande em entendimento, mas o que é de espirito impaciente assignala a sua loucura.
30 A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
O coração com saude é a vida da carne, mas a inveja é a podridão dos ossos.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
O que opprime ao pobre insulta áquelle que o creou, mas o que se compadece do necessitado o honra.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
Pela sua malicia será lançado fóra o impio, mas o justo até na sua morte tem confiança.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
No coração do prudente repousa a sabedoria, mas o que ha no interior dos tolos se conhece.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.
A justiça exalta ao povo, mas o peccado é o opprobrio das nações.
35 The king’s favour [is] toward a wise servant: but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
O Rei tem seu contentamento no servo prudente, mas sobre o que envergonha cairá o seu furor.
