Luke 4
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
さて、聖霊に満ちたイエスは、ヨルダンから帰られた。そして御霊に導かれて荒野におり、
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
四十日間、悪魔の試みに会われた。その間何も食べず、その時が終わると、空腹を覚えられた。
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
そこで、悪魔はイエスに言った。「あなたが神の子なら、この石に、パンになれと言いつけなさい。」
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
イエスは答えられた。「『人はパンだけで生きるのではない。』と書いてある。」
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
また、悪魔はイエスを連れて行き、またたくまに世界の国々を全部見せて、
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
こう言った。「この、国々のいっさいの権力と栄光とをあなたに差し上げましょう。それは私に任されているので、私がこれと思う人に差し上げるのです。
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
ですから、もしあなたが私を拝むなら、すべてをあなたのものとしましょう。」
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
イエスは答えて言われた。「『あなたの神である主を拝み、主にだけ仕えなさい。』と書いてある。」
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
また、悪魔はイエスをエルサレムに連れて行き、神殿の頂に立たせて、こう言った。「あなたが神の子なら、ここから飛び降りなさい。
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
『神は、御使いたちに命じてあなたを守らせる。』とも、
11 And in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
『あなたの足が石に打ち当たることのないように、彼らの手で、あなたをささえさせる。』とも書いてあるからです。」
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
するとイエスは答えて言われた。「『あなたの神である主を試みてはならない。』と言われている。」
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
誘惑の手を尽くしたあとで、悪魔はしばらくの間イエスから離れた。
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
イエスは御霊の力を帯びてガリラヤに帰られた。すると、その評判が回り一帯に、くまなく広まった。
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
イエスは、彼らの会堂で教え、みなの人にあがめられた。
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
それから、イエスはご自分の育ったナザレに行き、いつものとおり安息日に会堂にはいり、朗読しようとして立たれた。
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
すると、預言者イザヤの書が手渡されたので、その書を開いて、こう書いてある所を見つけられた。
18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
「わたしの上に主の御霊がおられる。 主が、貧しい人々に福音を伝えるようにと、 わたしに油を注がれたのだから。 主はわたしを遣わされた。 捕われ人には赦免を、 盲人には目の開かれることを告げるために。 しいたげられている人々を自由にし、
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
主の恵みの年を告げ知らせるために。」
20 And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
イエスは書を巻き、係りの者に渡してすわられた。会堂にいるみなの目がイエスに注がれた。
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
イエスは人々にこう言って話し始められた。「きょう、聖書のこのみことばが、あなたがたが聞いたとおり実現しました。」
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
みなイエスをほめ、その口から出て来る恵みのことばに驚いた。そしてまた、「この人は、ヨセフの子ではないか。」と彼らは言った。
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
イエスは言われた。「きっとあなたがたは、『医者よ。自分を直せ。』というたとえを引いて、カペナウムで行なわれたと聞いていることを、あなたの郷里のここでもしてくれ、と言うでしょう。」
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
また、こう言われた。「まことに、あなたがたに告げます。預言者はだれでも、自分の郷里では歓迎されません。
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
わたしが言うのは真実のことです。エリヤの時代に、三年六か月の間天が閉じて、全国に大ききんが起こったとき、イスラエルにもやもめは多くいたが、
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, [a city] of Sidon, unto a woman [that was] a widow.
エリヤはだれのところにも遣わされず、シドンのサレプタにいたやもめ女にだけ遣わされたのです。
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
また、預言者エリシャのときに、イスラエルには、らい病人がたくさんいたが、そのうちのだれもきよめられないで、シリヤ人ナアマンだけがきよめられました。」
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
これらのことを聞くと、会堂にいた人たちはみな、ひどく怒り、
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
立ち上がってイエスを町の外に追い出し、町が立っていた丘のがけのふちまで連れて行き、そこから投げ落とそうとした。
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
しかしイエスは、彼らの真中を通り抜けて、行ってしまわれた。
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
それからイエスは、ガリラヤの町カペナウムに下られた。そして、安息日ごとに、人々を教えられた。
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
人々は、その教えに驚いた。そのことばに権威があったからである。
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
また、会堂に、汚れた悪霊につかれた人がいて、大声でわめいた。
34 Saying, Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [thou] Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
「ああ、ナザレ人のイエス。いったい私たちに何をしようというのです。あなたは私たちを滅ぼしに来たのでしょう。私はあなたがどなたか知っています。神の聖者です。」
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
イエスは彼をしかって、「黙れ。その人から出て行け。」と言われた。するとその悪霊は人々の真中で、その人を投げ倒して出て行ったが、その人は別に何の害も受けなかった。
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word [is] this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
人々はみな驚いて、互いに話し合った。「今のおことばはどうだ。権威と力とでお命じになったので、汚れた霊でも出て行ったのだ。」
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
こうしてイエスのうわさは、回りの地方の至る所に広まった。
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
イエスは立ち上がって会堂を出て、シモンの家にはいられた。すると、シモンのしゅうとめが、ひどい熱で苦しんでいた。人々は彼女のためにイエスにお願いした。
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
イエスがその枕もとに来て、熱をしかりつけられると、熱がひき、彼女はすぐに立ち上がって彼らをもてなし始めた。
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
日が暮れると、いろいろな病気で弱っている者をかかえた人たちがみな、その病人をみもとに連れて来た。イエスは、ひとりひとりに手を置いて、いやされた。
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking [them] suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
また、悪霊どもも、「あなたこそ神の子です。」と大声で叫びながら、多くの人から出て行った。イエスは、悪霊どもをしかって、ものを言うのをお許しにならなかった。彼らはイエスがキリストであることを知っていたからである。
42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
朝になって、イエスは寂しい所に出て行かれた。群衆は、イエスを捜し回って、みもとに来ると、イエスが自分たちから離れて行かないよう引き止めておこうとした。
43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
しかしイエスは、彼らにこう言われた。「ほかの町々にも、どうしても神の国の福音を宣べ伝えなければなりません。わたしは、そのために遣わされたのですから。」
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
そしてユダヤの諸会堂で、福音を告げ知らせておられた。
