John 3
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
Es war aber ein Mensch unter den Pharisäern mit Namen Nikodemus, ein Oberster unter den Juden.
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Der kam zu Jesu bei der Nacht und sprach zu ihm: Meister, wir wissen, daß du bist ein Lehrer, von Gott kommen; denn niemand kann die Zeichen tun, die du tust, es sei denn Gott mit ihm.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir: Es sei denn, daß jemand von neuem geboren werde, kann er das Reich Gottes nicht sehen.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
Nikodemus spricht zu ihm: Wie kann ein Mensch geboren werden, wenn er alt ist? Kann er auch wiederum in seiner Mutter Leib gehen und geboren werden?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Jesus antwortete: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir: Es sei denn, daß jemand geboren werde aus dem Wasser und Geist, so kann er nicht in das Reich Gottes kommen.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Was vom Fleisch geboren wird, das ist Fleisch, und was vom Geist geboren wird, das ist Geist.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Laß dich's nicht wundern, daß ich dir gesagt habe: Ihr müsset von neuem geboren werden.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Der Wind bläset, wo er will, und du hörest sein Sausen wohl; aber du weißt nicht, von wannen er kommt und wohin er fähret. Also ist ein jeglicher, der aus dem Geist geboren ist.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Nikodemus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wie mag solches zugehen?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Bist du ein Meister in Israel und weißt das nicht?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir, wir reden, was wir wissen, und zeugen, was wir gesehen haben, und ihr nehmet unser Zeugnis nicht an.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things?
Glaubt ihr nicht, wenn ich euch von irdischen Dingen sage, wie würdet ihr glauben, wenn ich euch von himmlischen Dingen sagen würde?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven.
Und niemand fähret gen Himmel, denn der vom Himmel herniederkommen ist, nämlich des Menschen Sohn, der im Himmel ist.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Und wie Mose in der Wüste eine Schlange erhöhet hat, also muß des Menschen Sohn erhöhet werden,
auf daß alle, die an ihn glauben, nicht verloren werden, sondern das ewige Leben haben. (aiōnios g166)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
Also hat Gott die Welt geliebet, daß er seinen eingeborenen Sohn gab, auf daß alle, die an ihn glauben, nicht verloren werden, sondern das ewige Leben haben. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Denn Gott hat seinen Sohn nicht gesandt in die Welt, daß er die Welt richte, sondern daß die Welt durch ihn selig werde.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Wer an ihn glaubet, der wird nicht gerichtet; wer aber nicht glaubet, der ist schon gerichtet; denn er glaubet nicht an den Namen des eingebornen Sohnes Gottes.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Das ist aber das Gericht, daß das Licht in die Welt kommen ist, und die Menschen liebeten die Finsternis mehr denn das Licht; denn ihre Werke waren böse.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Wer Arges tut, der hasset das Licht und kommt nicht an das Licht, auf daß seine Werke nicht gestraft werden.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Wer aber die Wahrheit tut, der kommt an das Licht, daß seine Werke offenbar werden; denn sie sind in Gott getan.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judæa; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
Danach kam Jesus und seine Jünger in das jüdische Land und hatte daselbst sein Wesen mit ihnen und taufete.
23 And John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
Johannes aber taufete auch noch zu Enon, nahe bei Salim; denn es war viel Wassers daselbst. Und sie kamen dahin und ließen sich taufen.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
Denn Johannes war noch nicht ins Gefängnis gelegt.
25 Then there arose a question between [some] of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.
Da erhub sich eine Frage unter den Jüngern des Johannes samt den Juden über die Reinigung.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all [men] come to him.
Und kamen zu Johannes und sprachen zu ihm: Meister, der bei dir war jenseit des Jordans, von dem du zeugtest, siehe, der taufet, und jedermann kommt zu ihm.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
Johannes antwortete und sprach: Ein Mensch kann nichts nehmen, es werde ihm denn gegeben vom Himmel.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
Ihr selbst seid meine Zeugen, daß ich gesagt habe, ich sei nicht Christus, sondern vor ihm her gesandt.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
Wer die Braut hat, der ist der Bräutigam; der Freund aber des Bräutigams stehet und höret ihm zu und freuet sich hoch über des Bräutigams Stimme. Dieselbige meine Freude ist nun erfüllet.
30 He must increase, but I [must] decrease.
Er muß wachsen, ich aber muß abnehmen.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
Der von oben her kommt, ist über alle. Wer von der Erde ist, der ist von der Erde und redet von der Erde; der vom Himmel kommt, der ist über alle
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
und zeuget, was er gesehen und gehöret hat; und sein Zeugnis nimmt niemand an.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
Wer es aber annimmt, der versiegelt es, daß Gott wahrhaftig sei.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].
Denn welchen Gott gesandt hat, der redet Gottes Wort; denn Gott gibt den Geist nicht nach dem Maß.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
Der Vater hat den Sohn lieb und hat ihm alles in seine Hand gegeben.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
Wer an den Sohn glaubet, der hat das ewige Leben; wer dem Sohn nicht glaubet, der wird das Leben nicht sehen, sondern der Zorn Gottes bleibt über ihm. (aiōnios g166)
