Job 40
1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
Respondeu mais o Senhor a Job e disse:
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
Porventura o contender contra o Todo-poderoso é ensinar? quem quer repreender a Deus, responda a estas coisas.
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
Então Job respondeu ao Senhor, e disse:
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? a minha mão ponho na minha boca.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
Já uma vez tenho falado, porém mais não responderei: ou ainda duas vezes, porém não proseguirei.
6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Então o Senhor respondeu a Job desde a tempestade, e disse:
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
Ora, pois, cinge os teus lombos como varão; eu te perguntarei a ti, e tu ensina-me.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
Porventura também farás tu vão o meu juízo? ou tu me condenarás, para te justificares?
9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
Ou tens braço como Deus? ou podes trovejar com voz como a sua?
10 Deck thyself now [with] majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
Orna-te pois com excelência e alteza; e veste-te de magestade e de glória.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one [that is] proud, and abase him.
Derrama os furores da tua ira, e atenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o.
12 Look on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropela os ímpios no seu lugar.
13 Hide them in the dust together; [and] bind their faces in secret.
Esconde-os juntamente no pó: ata-lhes os rostos em oculto.
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
Então também eu a ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te haverá livrado.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Vês aqui a Behemoth, que eu fiz contigo, que come a erva como o boi.
16 Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly.
Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder no umbigo do seu ventre.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro: os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos.
18 His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron.
Os seus ossos são como coxas de bronze: a sua ossada é como barras de ferro.
19 He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach [unto him].
Ele é obra prima dos caminhos de Deus: o que o fez lhe apegou a sua espada.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pasto, onde todos os animais do campo folgam.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
Deita-se debaixo das árvores sombrias, no esconderijo das canas e da lama.
22 The shady trees cover him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
As árvores sombrias o cobrem, com sua sombra: os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Eis que um rio trasborda, e ele não se apressa, confiando que o Jordão possa entrar na sua boca.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares.
Pode-lo-iam porventura caçar à vista de seus olhos? ou com laços lhe furar os narizes?
