Hebrews 9
1 Then verily the first [covenant] had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
Z pierwszym przymierzem związane były przepisy dotyczące Bożej służby, która odbywała się w miejscu świętym.
2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein [was] the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
W tym celu zbudowano bowiem świątynię. W pierwszej jej części—nazywanej miejscem świętym—stał złoty świecznik i stół, na którym znajdowały się chleby ofiarowane Bogu.
3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
W drugiej części, oddzielonej zasłoną—zwanej miejscem najświętszym
4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
—znajdował się złoty ołtarz, na którym spalano wonności, i skrzynia przymierza, pokryta czystym złotem. Wewnątrz niej znajdował się złoty dzban z manną, laska Aarona, która kiedyś zakwitła, oraz tablice z Dekalogiem.
5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we can not now speak particularly.
Na skrzyni umieszczone były posągi aniołów—cherubinów, strażników Bożej chwały, które osłaniały skrzydłami górną część skrzyni, zwaną przebłagalnią. Ale nie wdawajmy się teraz w szczegóły.
6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service [of God].
Wszystko to było tak urządzone, że kapłani przez cały czas mogli wchodzić do miejsca świętego i wykonywać tam swoją służbę.
7 But into the second [went] the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and [for] the errors of the people:
Do miejsca najświętszego wchodził zaś wyłącznie najwyższy kapłan i to tylko raz w roku. Czyniąc to, wnosił tam z sobą krew zwierząt, ofiarowanych za grzechy jego i całego ludu.
8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
W ten sposób Duch Święty pokazał nam, że dopóki Boża służba odbywała się w świątyni, wejście do miejsca najświętszego było zamknięte.
9 Which [was] a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Jest to dla nas bardzo ważna lekcja. Pokazuje ona, że dary i ofiary składane Bogu, zgodnie z porządkiem starego przymierza, nie mogły udoskonalić ludzi, którzy je składali.
10 [Which stood] only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed [on them] until the time of reformation.
Przepisy tego przymierza odnosiły się bowiem tylko do rzeczy zewnętrznych: jedzenia, picia, obrzędów obmywania—i straciły znaczenie z chwilą nadejścia nowego przymierza.
11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Gdy przyszedł Chrystus, będący najwyższym kapłanem nowego porządku, wszedł do świątyni raz na zawsze. Nie jest to jednak ta świątynia, która została zbudowana przez ludzi i znajduje się na tym świecie, ale znacznie wspanialsza i doskonalsza, znajdująca się w niebie.
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. (aiōnios g166)
Co więcej, Chrystus nie wniósł do niej krwi zwierząt, ale wszedł do miejsca świętego przelewając własną krew i zapewniając nam w ten sposób wieczne zbawienie. (aiōnios g166)
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
Zgodnie z Prawem Mojżesza, krew zwierząt i popiół, który pozostał po złożeniu ich w ofierze, oczyszczały ludzkie ciała z grzechu.
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (aiōnios g166)
O ile więc bardziej krew Chrystusa, który był bez grzechu i który przez wiecznego Ducha ofiarował samego siebie Bogu, oczyści nasze serca z czynów prowadzących do śmierci! Ona też sprawi, że będziemy żyć służąc żywemu Bogu! (aiōnios g166)
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (aiōnios g166)
Chrystus dlatego stał się pośrednikiem nowego przymierza, aby wszyscy, których Bóg do tego powołał, otrzymali obiecany przez Niego wieczny dar. Jezus umarł bowiem po to, aby uratować ich od kary za grzechy, które popełnili w czasie dawnego przymierza. (aiōnios g166)
16 For where a testament [is], there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Aby jakikolwiek testament zaczął obowiązywać, najpierw musi umrzeć ten, kto go sporządził.
17 For a testament [is] of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Dokument ten nabiera bowiem mocy dopiero po jego śmierci—jeśli zaś ten, kto go spisał, żyje, postanowienia testamentu nie obowiązują.
18 Whereupon neither the first [testament] was dedicated without blood.
Z podobnego powodu pierwsze przymierze nie mogło obyć się bez krwi.
19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
Gdy bowiem Mojżesz ogłosił ludowi wszystkie Boże Prawa, wziął do ręki gałązkę hizopu i szkarłatną wełnę, następnie zanurzył je we krwi zwierząt ofiarnych zmieszanej z wodą i pokropił nią księgę oraz cały lud.
20 Saying, This [is] the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
Potem rzekł: „Oto krew przymierza, które zawarł z wami Bóg”.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
Pokropił również świątynię i wszystkie naczynia przeznaczone do Bożej służby.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
W ramach dawnego przymierza, prawie każde oczyszczenie dokonywało się poprzez krew. Przebaczenie grzechów jest bowiem niemożliwe bez przelania krwi.
23 [It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
Dlatego właśnie rzeczy będące kopią niebiańskiej rzeczywistości musiały zostać oczyszczane w taki sposób. Sama niebiańska rzeczywistość wymagała jednak doskonalszych ofiar.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, [which are] the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Z tego powodu Chrystus wstąpił nie do świątyni zbudowanej przez ludzi według niebiańskiego wzoru, ale do samego nieba, aby stać się naszym reprezentantem przed Bogiem.
25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Każdy najwyższy kapłan co roku wchodzi do świątyni z krwią zwierząt ofiarnych. Chrystus zaś nie musiał wielokrotnie składać się w ofierze
26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (aiōn g165)
i wiele razy—od początku istnienia świata—umierać. On pojawił się tylko raz, przy końcu czasów, składając w ofierze siebie samego. W ten sposób uratował nas od kary za grzechy. (aiōn g165)
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Człowiek umiera tylko raz, a potem czeka go Boży sąd.
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Podobnie Chrystus, tylko raz ofiarował się za grzechy wielu ludzi. Drugi raz pojawi się natomiast nie w związku z ich grzechem, ale przynosząc zbawienie tym, którzy Go oczekują.
