Hebrews 3

1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

そういうわけですから、天の召しにあずかっている聖なる兄弟たち。私たちの告白する信仰の使徒であり、大祭司であるイエスのことを考えなさい。

2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses [was faithful] in all his house.

モーセが神の家全体のために忠実であったのと同様に、イエスはご自分を立てた方に対して忠実なのです。

3 For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

家よりも、家を建てる者が大きな栄誉を持つのと同様に、イエスはモーセよりも大きな栄光を受けるのにふさわしいとされました。

4 For every house is builded by some [man]; but he that built all things [is] God.

家はそれぞれ、だれかが建てるのですが、すべてのものを造られた方は、神です。

5 And Moses verily [was] faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

モーセは、しもべとして神の家全体のために忠実でした。それは、後に語られる事をあかしするためでした。

6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

しかし、キリストは御子として神の家を忠実に治められるのです。もし私たちが、確信と、希望による誇りとを、終わりまでしっかりと持ち続けるならば、私たちが神の家なのです。

7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

ですから、聖霊が言われるとおりです。 「きょう、もし御声を聞くならば、

8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

荒野での試みの日に 御怒りを引き起こしたときのように、 心をかたくなにしてはならない。

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

あなたがたの先祖たちは、 そこでわたしを試みて証拠を求め、 四十年の間、わたしのわざを見た。

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways.

だから、わたしはその時代を憤って言った。 彼らは常に心が迷い、 わたしの道を悟らなかった。

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

わたしは、怒りをもって誓ったように、 決して彼らをわたしの安息にはいらせない。」

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

兄弟たち。あなたがたの中では、だれも悪い不信仰の心になって生ける神から離れる者がないように気をつけなさい。

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

「きょう。」と言われている間に、日々互いに励まし合って、だれも罪に惑わされてかたくなにならないようにしなさい。

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

もし最初の確信を終わりまでしっかり保ちさえすれば、私たちは、キリストにあずかる者となるのです。

15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

「きょう、もし御声を聞くならば、 御怒りを引き起こしたときのように、 心をかたくなにしてはならない。」 と言われているからです。

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

聞いていながら、御怒りを引き起こしたのはだれでしたか。モーセに率いられてエジプトを出た人々の全部ではありませんか。

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

神は四十年の間だれを怒っておられたのですか。罪を犯した人々、しかばねを荒野にさらした、あの人たちをではありませんか。

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

また、わたしの安息にはいらせないと神が誓われたのは、ほかでもない、従おうとしなかった人たちのことではありませんか。

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

それゆえ、彼らが安息にはいれなかったのは、不信仰のためであったことがわかります。
