2 Chronicles 17
1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
E Josaphat seu filho reinou em seu logar: e fortificou-se contra Israel.
2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
E poz gente de guerra em todas as cidades fortes de Judah e poz guarnições na terra de Judah, como tambem nas cidades d'Ephraim, que Asa seu pae tinha tomado.
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
E o Senhor foi com Josaphat; porque andou nos primeiros caminhos de David seu pae, e não buscou a Baalim.
4 But sought to the [ Lord] God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
Antes buscou ao Deus de seu pae, e andou nos seus mandamentos, e não segundo as obras d'Israel.
5 Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
E o Senhor confirmou o reino na sua mão, e todo o Judah deu presentes a Josaphat: e teve riquezas e gloria em abundancia.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
E exaltou-se o seu coração nos caminhos do Senhor e ainda de mais tirou os altos e os bosques de Judah.
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, [even] to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
E no terceiro anno do seu reinado enviou elle os seus principes, a Benchail, e a Obadias, e a Zacharias, e a Nathanael, e a Michaia, para ensinarem nas cidades de Judah.
8 And with them [he sent] Levites, [even] Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
E com elles os levitas, Semaias e Nethanias, e Zebadias, e Asael, e Semiramoth, e Jonathan, e Adonias, e Tobias, e Tobadonias, levitas: e com elles os sacerdotes, Elisama e Jorão.
9 And they taught in Judah, and [had] the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
E ensinaram em Judah e tinham comsigo o livro da lei do Senhor: e rodearam todas as cidades de Judah, e ensinaram entre o povo.
10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that [were] round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
E veiu o temor do Senhor sobre todos os reinos das terras, que estavam em roda de Judah e não guerrearam contra Josaphat.
11 Also [some] of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
E alguns d'entre os philisteos traziam presentes a Josaphat, com o dinheiro do tributo: tambem os arabios lhe trouxeram gado miudo; sete mil e setecentos carneiros, e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
Cresceu pois Josaphat e se engrandeceu extremamente: e edificou fortalezas e cidades de munições em Judah.
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, [were] in Jerusalem.
E teve muitas obras nas cidades de Judah e gente de guerra, varões valentes em Jerusalem.
14 And these [are] the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
E este é o numero d'elles segundo as casas de seu paes: em Judah eram chefes dos milhares: o chefe Adna, e com elle trezentos mil varões valentes;
15 And next to him [was] Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
E após elle o chefe Johanan, e com elle duzentos e oitenta mil;
16 And next him [was] Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
E após elle Amasias, filho de Zichri, que voluntariamente se entregou ao Senhor, e com elle duzentos mil varões valentes:
17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
E de Benjamin Eliada, varão valente, e com elle duzentos mil, armados d'arco e d'escudo:
18 And next him [was] Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
E após elle Jozabad: e com elle cento e oitenta mil armados para a guerra.
19 These waited on the king, beside [those] whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
Estes estavam no serviço do rei; afóra os que o rei tinha posto nas cidades fortes por todo o Judah.
