Psalms 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

De David. Le Seigneur est ma lumière et mon salut: de qui aurais-je peur? Le Seigneur est le rempart qui protège ma vie: qui redouterais-je?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Quand des malfaiteurs m’approchent pour dévorer ma chair mes adversaires et mes ennemis qui me guettent ce sont eux qui bronchent et tombent.

3 Though an host should camp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Qu’une armée prenne position contre moi, mon cœur n’éprouve aucune crainte; que la guerre fasse rage contre moi, même alors je garde ma confiance.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Il est une chose que je demande au Seigneur, que je réclame instamment, c’est de séjourner dans la maison de l’Eternel tous les jours de ma vie, de contempler la splendeur de l’Eternel et de fréquenter son sanctuaire.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Car, au jour du malheur, il m’abriterait sous son pavillon, il me cacherait dans la retraite de sa tente, il me ferait monter sur un rocher.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Dès à présent je porte le front haut en face des ennemis qui m’entourent; je vais immoler, dans sa demeure, des sacrifices de triomphe, je vais chanter, célébrer le Seigneur.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

Ecoute, Seigneur, ma voix qui t’appelle, sois-moi propice et exauce-moi!

8 When you said, Seek all of you my face; my heart said unto you, Your face, LORD, will I seek.

En ton nom mon cœur dit: "Recherchez ma face!" c’est ta face que je recherche, ô Seigneur!

9 Hide not your face far from me; put not your servant away in anger: you have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Ne me cache point ta face; ne repousse pas ton serviteur avec colère: tu es mon soutien. Ne me délaisse ni ne m’abandonne, Dieu de mon salut.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Car père et mère m’ont laissé là, mais l’Eternel me recueillera.

11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

Guide-moi, Eternel, dans tes voies, dirige-moi dans le droit chemin, à cause de ceux qui me regardent de travers.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

Ne me livre pas à la fureur de mes adversaires, car ils se dressent contre moi, les témoins mensongers, ceux qui soufflent la violence.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Ah! si je n’avais la certitude de voir la bonté de Dieu sur la terre des vivants!…

14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Espère en l’Eternel, courage! que ton cœur soit ferme! oui, espère en l’Eternel!
