Deuteronomy 27

1 And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.

Et Moïse et les Anciens d'Israël intimèrent au peuple cet ordre: Gardez la totalité du commandement que je vous prescris en ce jour.

2 And it shall be on the day when all of you shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD your God gives you, that you shall set you up great stones, and smear them with plaster:

Au jour où vous passerez le Jourdain pour entrer dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, tu érigeras de grandes pierres et les enduiras de chaux et

3 And you shall write upon them all the words of this law, when you are passed over, that you may go in unto the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land that flows with milk and honey; as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you.

tu y graveras toutes les paroles de cette loi, quand tu seras passé, afin que tu parviennes au pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, pays découlant de lait et de miel, comme l'Éternel, Dieu de tes pères, te l'a promis.

4 Therefore it shall be when all of you be gone over Jordan, that all of you shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and you shall smear them with plaster.

Après le passage du Jourdain, vous ferez donc l'érection de ces pierres, que je vous ordonne aujourd'hui, sur le mont Ebal et vous les enduirez de chaux.

5 And there shall you build an altar unto the LORD your God, an altar of stones: you shall not lift up any iron tool upon them.

Et tu bâtiras là un autel à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et un autel de pierres sur lesquelles tu ne porteras pas le fer;

6 You shall build the altar of the LORD your God of whole stones: and you shall offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD your God:

c'est de pierres brutes que tu bâtiras l'Autel de l'Éternel, ton Dieu; et tu y offriras des holocaustes à l'Éternel, ton Dieu.

7 And you shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and rejoice before the LORD your God.

Et tu feras des sacrifices pacifiques; et tu mangeras là et te réjouiras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu;

8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

et tu graveras sur les pierres toutes les paroles de cette Loi, en caractères nets.

9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day you are become the people of the LORD your God.

Alors Moïse et les Prêtres, les Lévites, parlèrent à tout Israël en ces termes: Israël, fais silence et sois-attentif! Aujourd'hui tu es devenu le peuple de l'Éternel, ton Dieu.

10 You shall therefore obey the voice of the LORD your God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day.

Obéis donc à la voix de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et pratique ses commandements et ses statuts que je te prescris aujourd'hui.

11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,

Et ce jour-là Moïse donna cet ordre au peuple:

12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when all of you are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:

Ceux-ci se placeront, pour bénir le peuple, sur le mont Garizim, quand vous aurez passé le Jourdain: Siméon et Lévi et Juda et Issaschar et Joseph et Benjamin.

13 And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

Et ceux-ci se placeront, pour prononcer la malédiction, sur le mont Ebal: Ruben, Gad, et Asser et Zabulon, Dan et Nephthali.

14 And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

Puis les Lévites prendront la parole et diront à tous les hommes d'Israël d'une voix élevée:

15 Cursed be the man that makes any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

Maudit soit l'homme qui fait une image sculptée ou jetée en fonte, abomination de l'Éternel, œuvre de main d'artiste, et l'érige en secret. Et tout le peuple répondra et dira: Ainsi soit-il!

16 Cursed be he that sets light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui avilit son père et sa mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

17 Cursed be he that removes his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui déplace la borne de son prochain. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

18 Cursed be he that makes the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui fourvoie l'aveugle en chemin. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

19 Cursed be he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui fait plier le droit de l'étranger, de l'orphelin et de la veuve. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

20 Cursed be he that lies with his father's wife; because he uncovers his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui partage le lit de la femme de son père; car il a soulevé la couverture de son père. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

21 Cursed be he that lies with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui a commerce avec un animal quelconque. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

22 Cursed be he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui partage le lit de sa sœur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

23 Cursed be he that lies with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui partage le lit de sa belle-mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

24 Cursed be he that strikes his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui frappe son prochain clandestinement. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

25 Cursed be he that takes reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui accepte des présents pour attenter à une vie, au sang innocent. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!

26 Cursed be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Maudit celui qui ne met pas à effet les paroles de cette Loi pour la pratiquer. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
