Deuteronomy 24

1 When a man has taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he has found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

૧જો કોઈ પુરુષે સ્ત્રીની સાથે લગ્ન કર્યા હોય અને તેનામાં કંઈ શરમજનક બાબત માલૂમ પડ્યાથી તે તેની નજરમાં કૃપા ન પામે, તો તેને છૂટાછેડા ના પ્રમાણ પત્ર લખી આપે અને તે તેના હાથમાં મૂકીને તેને પોતાના ઘરમાંથી કાઢી મૂકી શકે.

2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

૨અને જયારે તે સ્ત્રી તેના ઘરમાંથી નીકળી જાય પછી અન્ય પુરુષ સાથે લગ્ન કરવાની તેને છૂટ છે.

3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and gives it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

૩જો તેનો બીજો પતિ પણ તેને ધિક્કારે અને છૂટાછેડાના પ્રમાણ પત્ર લખી તેના હાથમાં મૂકે, તેના ઘરમાંથી તેને કાઢી મૂકે; અથવા જે બીજા પતિએ તેને પત્ની તરીકે લીધી હતી તે જો મૃત્યુ પામે,

4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and you shall not cause the land to sin, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

૪ત્યારે તેનો પહેલો પતિ, જેણે તેને અગાઉ કાઢી મૂકી હતી, તે તેને અશુદ્ધ થયા પછી પોતાની પત્ની તરીકે ફરીથી ન લે; કેમ કે, યહોવાહની દૃષ્ટિમાં તે ઘૃણાસ્પદ છે. યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વર તને જે દેશ વારસા તરીકે આપનાર છે તે દેશને તું પાપનું કારણ ન બનાવ.

5 When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he has taken.

૫જયારે કોઈ પુરુષ નવ પરિણીત હોય ત્યારે તે લશ્કરમાં ન જાય કે તેને કંઈ જ કામ સોંપવામાં ન આવે; તે એક વર્ષ સુધી ઘરે રહે, જે પત્ની સાથે તેણે લગ્ન કર્યું છે, તેને આનંદિત કરે.

6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he takes a man's life to pledge.

૬કોઈ માણસ લોટ દળવાની ઘંટીની નીચેનું કે ઉપલું પડ પણ ગીરવે ન લે; કેમ કે તેમ કરવાથી તે માણસની આજીવિકા ગીરવે લે છે.

7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and makes merchandise of him, or sells him; then that thief shall die; and you shall put evil away from among you.

૭જો કોઈ માણસ ઇઝરાયલના લોકોમાંથી પોતાના કોઈ ભાઈનું અપહરણ કરી તેને ગુલામ બનાવે, કે તેને વેચી દે, તો તે ચોર નિશ્ચે માર્યો જાય. આ રીતે તમારે તમારામાંથી દુષ્ટતા દૂર કરવી.

8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that you observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so all of you shall observe to do.

૮કુષ્ઠ રોગ વિષે તમે સાવધ રહો, કે જેથી લેવી યાજકોએ શીખવેલી સૂચનાઓ તમે કાળજીપૂર્વક પાળો જેમ મેં તમને આજ્ઞા આપી તે પ્રમાણે તમે કરો.

9 Remember what the LORD your God did unto Miriam by the way, after that all of you were come forth out of Egypt.

૯મિસરમાંથી બહાર આવ્યા ત્યારે યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વરે મરિયમ સાથે શું કર્યું તે યાદ કરો.

10 When you do lend your brother any thing, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

૧૦જ્યારે તમે તમારા પડોશીને કંઈ ઉધાર આપો, ત્યારે તમે ગીરે મૂકેલી વસ્તુ લેવા તેના ઘરમાં ન જાઓ.

11 You shall stand abroad, and the man to whom you do lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto you.

૧૧તમે બહાર ઊભો રહો, જે માણસે તમારી પાસેથી ઉધાર લીધું હશે તે ગીરે મૂકેલી વસ્તુને તમારી પાસે બહાર લાવે.

12 And if the man be poor, you shall not sleep with his pledge:

૧૨જો કોઈ માણસ ગરીબ હોય તો તેની ગીરેવે મૂકેલી વસ્તુ લઈને તમે ઊંઘી જશો નહિ.

13 In any case you shall deliver him the pledge again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless you: and it shall be righteousness unto you before the LORD your God.

૧૩સૂર્ય આથમતાં પહેલાં તમારે તેની ગીરે મૂકેલી વસ્તુ પાછી આપી દેવી, કે જેથી તે તેનો ઝભ્ભો પહેરીને સૂએ અને તમને આશીર્વાદ આપે; યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વરની આગળ તે તારું ન્યાયીપણું ગણાશે.

14 You shall not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of your brethren, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates:

૧૪તમારા ઇઝરાયલી સાથીદાર સાથે કે તમારા દેશમાં તમારા ગામોમાં રહેનાર પરદેશીમાંના કોઈ ગરીબ કે દરિદ્રી ચાકર પર તમે જુલમ ન કરો;

15 At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and sets his heart upon it: lest he cry against you unto the LORD, and it be sin unto you.

૧૫દરેક દિવસે તમે તેનું વેતન તેને આપો; સૂર્ય તે પર આથમે નહિ, કેમ કે તે ગરીબ છે તેના જીવનનો આધાર તેના પર જ છે. આ પ્રમાણે કરો કે જેથી તે તમારી વિરુદ્ધ યહોવાહને પોકાર કરે નહિ અને તમે દોષિત ઠરો નહિ.

16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

૧૬સંતાનોનાં પાપને કારણે તેઓનાં માતાપિતા માંર્યા જાય નહિ, માતાપિતાઓનાં પાપને કારણે સંતાનો માંર્યા જાય નહિ. પણ દરેક પોતાના પાપને કારણે માર્યો જાય.

17 You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:

૧૭પરદેશી કે અનાથોનો તમે ન્યાય ન કરો, કે વિધવાનાં વસ્રો કદી ગીરે ન લો.

18 But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you thence: therefore I command you to do this thing.

૧૮તમે મિસરમાં ગુલામ હતા અને યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વરે તમને ત્યાંથી બચાવ્યા તે તમારે યાદ રાખવું. તે માટે હું તમને આ આજ્ઞા પાળવાનું ફરમાવું છું.

19 When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

૧૯જયારે તમે ખેતરમાં વાવણી કરો, ત્યારે જો તમે પૂળો ખેતરમાં ભૂલી જાઓ તો તે લેવા તમે પાછા જશો નહિ, તેને પરદેશી, અનાથો તથા વિધવાઓ માટે ત્યાં જ પડયો રહેવા દેવો, જેથી યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વર તમને તમારા હાથનાં સર્વ કામમાં આશીર્વાદ આપે.

20 When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

૨૦જયારે તમે જૈતૂનનાં વૃક્ષને ઝૂડો ત્યારે ફરીથી ડાળીઓ પર ફરો નહિ; તેના પર રહેલા ફળ પરદેશીઓ, વિધવાઓ અને અનાથો માટે રહે.

21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

૨૧જયારે તમે તમારી દ્રાક્ષવાડીની દ્રાક્ષ ભેગી કરી લો, ત્યારે ફરીથી તેને એકઠી ન કરો. તેને પરદેશી માટે, વિધવા માટે તથા અનાથો માટે રહેવા દો.

22 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command you to do this thing.

૨૨યાદ રાખો કે તમે મિસર દેશમાં ગુલામ હતા, એ માટે તમને આજ્ઞા પાળવાનું ફરમાવું છું.
