2 Samuel 8
1 And after this it came to pass that David stroke the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
Después de esto aconteció, que David hirió a los filisteos, y los humilló; y tomó David a Meteg-ama de mano de los filisteos.
2 And he stroke Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.
Hirió también a los de Moab, y los midió con cordel, haciéndolos echar por tierra; y los midió en dos cordeles, el uno para muerte, y otro cordel entero para vida; y fueron los moabitas siervos llevando presente.
3 David stroke also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
Asimismo hirió David a Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, yendo él a extender su término hasta el río Eufrates.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David cut the hamstrings of all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.
Y tomó David de ellos mil setecientos de a caballo, y veinte mil hombres de a pie; y desjarretó David los caballos de todos los carros, excepto cien carros de ellos que dejó.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
Y vinieron los sirios de Damasco a dar ayuda a Hadad-ezer rey de Soba; y David hirió de los Sirios veintidós mil hombres.
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.
Puso luego David guarnición en Siria, la de Damasco, y fueron los Sirios siervos de David llevando presente. Y el SEÑOR guardó a David donde quiera que fue.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
Y tomó David los escudos de oro que traían los siervos de Hadad-ezer, y los llevó a Jerusalén.
8 And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
Asimismo de Beta y de Beerot, ciudades de Hadad-ezer, tomó el rey David gran cantidad de bronce.
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
Entonces oyendo Toi, rey de Hamat, que David había herido todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,
10 Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
envió Toi a Joram su hijo al rey David, a saludarle pacíficamente y a bendecirle, porque había peleado con Hadad-ezer y lo había vencido; porque Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Y Joram llevaba en su mano vasos de plata, y vasos de oro, y de bronce;
11 Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
los cuales el rey David dedicó al SEÑOR, con el oro y la plata que tenía dedicado de todas las naciones que había sometido;
12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
de los sirios, de los moabitas, de los ammonitas, de los filisteos, de los amalecitas, y del despojo de Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.
13 And David got him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
Y ganó David fama cuando, volviendo de la derrota de los Sirios, hirió dieciocho mil hombres en el valle de la sal.
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.
Asimismo puso David guarnición en Edom, por toda Edom puso guarnición; y todos los idumeos fueron siervos de David. Y el SEÑOR guardó a David por donde quiera que fue.
15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.
Y reinó David sobre todo Israel; y hacía David derecho y justicia a todo su pueblo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
Y Joab hijo de Sarvia era general de su ejército; y Josafat hijo de Ahilud, canciller;
17 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;
y Sadoc hijo de Ahitob, y Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; y Seraías era escriba;
18 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
y Benaía hijo de Joiada, era sobre los cereteos y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran los príncipes.
