Habakkuk 1
1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
Die Weissagung, die Chabakkuk, der Prophet, erschaute.
2 O Yhwh, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
Wie lange, Jehovah, soll ich aufschreien, und Du willst nicht hören, - schreien zu Dir: Gewalttat! und Du wirst nicht helfen?
3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
Warum läßt Du mich Unrecht sehen und Mühsal erblicken, und Verheerung und Gewalttat ist vor mir? Und Hader ist da, und das Rechten erhebt sich?
4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
Darum erstarrt das Gesetz und nimmermehr geht aus das Gericht; denn der Ungerechte umgibt den Gerechten. Darum geht aus ein verdrehtes Gericht.
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
Seht unter die Völkerschaften und blicket; erstaunet euch und staunet; denn ein Werk wirkt Er in euren Tagen. Erzählte man es, ihr würdet es nicht glauben.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
Denn siehe, Ich lasse aufstehen die Chaldäer, die bittere und eilige Völkerschaft, die hinzieht in des Landes Breiten, erblich zu besitzen Wohnungen, die nicht die ihrigen sind.
7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
Schrecklich und furchtbar ist es: ihr Recht und ihre Erhebung geht von ihnen selbst aus.
8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
Und leichter sind den Parder ihre Rosse, und schärfer den Wölfe des Abends; und es zerstieben ihre Reiter. Und ihre Reiter kommen aus der Ferne, sie fliegen wie der Adler herbei, der zum Fraße sich sputet.
9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
Sie allesamt kommen zur Gewalttat, nach Osten steht ihrer Angesichter Streben; er sammelt Gefangene wie Sand;
10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
Und er verspottet die Könige, und Beherrscher sind ihm zum Gelächter; er lacht jeder Festung, und häuft Staub auf und erobert sie.
11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
Dann dringt der Wind ein und geht vorbei, und er wird schuldig, dessen Kraft ihm zum Gotte ist.
12 Art thou not from everlasting, O Yhwh my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Yhwh, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
Bist Du, Jehovah, nicht von der Vorzeit her mein Gott, mein Heiliger? Wir werden nicht sterben. Jehovah, Du hast ihn zum Gericht gesetzt und, o Fels, zur Rüge ihn gegründet.
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
Deine Augen sind zu rein, daß Du das Böse nicht siehst, nicht blickst auf das Mühsal, warum erblickst Du die Treulosen; Du schweigst, wenn der Ungerechte den Gerechteren denn er verschlingt?
14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
Und du machst den Menschen wie des Meeres Fische, wie das Kriechtier, das keinen Herrscher hat.
15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
Er zieht jedes herauf an der Angel, er erhascht es in seinem Garn und sammelt es in sein Fischernetz. Darum ist er fröhlich und frohlockt.
16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
Darum opfert er seinem Garn und räuchert seinem Fischernetz, weil durch sie sein Teil ist fett und seine Speise üppig.
17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
Soll er darum sein Garn also leeren, und beständig die Völkerschaften erwürgen ohne Mitleid?
