2 Samuel 2
1 And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of YHWH, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And YHWH said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
Después de esto aconteció que David consultó al SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Subiré a alguna de las ciudades de Judá? Y el SEÑOR le respondió: Sube. Y David volvió a decir: ¿A dónde subiré? Y él le dijo: A Hebrón.
2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
Y David subió allá, y con él sus dos mujeres, Ahinoam jezreelita y Abigail, la que fue mujer de Nabal del Carmelo.
3 And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
Y llevó también David consigo los varones que con él habían estado, cada uno con su familia; los cuales moraron en las ciudades de Hebrón.
4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul.
Y vinieron los varones de Judá, y ungieron allí a David por rey sobre la casa de Judá. Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: Los de Jabes de Galaad son los que sepultaron a Saúl.
5 And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of YHWH, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your master, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
Y envió David mensajeros a los de Jabes de Galaad, diciéndoles: Benditos seáis vosotros del SEÑOR, que habéis hecho esta misericordia con vuestro señor Saúl en haberle dado sepultura.
6 And now YHWH shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
Ahora pues, el SEÑOR haga con vosotros misericordia y verdad; y yo también os haré bien por esto que habéis hecho.
7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
Esfuércense pues ahora vuestras manos, y sed valientes; pues que muerto Saúl vuestro señor, los de la casa de Judá me han ungido por rey sobre ellos.
8 But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
Mas Abner hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Saúl, tomó a Is-boset hijo de Saúl, y lo hizo pasar al real.
9 And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
Y lo alzó por rey sobre Galaad, y sobre Gesuri, y sobre Jezreel, y sobre Efraín, y sobre Benjamín, y sobre todo Israel.
10 Ish-bosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
De cuarenta años era Is-boset hijo de Saúl, cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel; y reinó dos años. Sólo la casa de Judá seguía a David.
11 And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
Y fue el número de los días que David reinó en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá, siete años y seis meses.
12 And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
Y Abner hijo de Ner salió del real a Gabaón con los siervos de Is-boset hijo de Saúl.
13 And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
Y Joab hijo de Sarvia, y los criados de David, salieron y los encontraron junto al estanque de Gabaón; y cuando se juntaron, se pararon los unos a un lado del estanque, y los otros al otro.
14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los jóvenes, y maniobren delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levántense.
15 Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
Entonces se levantaron, y en número de doce, pasaron de Benjamín de la parte de Is-boset hijo de Saúl; y doce de los siervos de David.
16 And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su compañero, y le metió su espada por el costado de su compañero, y cayeron a una; y fue llamado aquel lugar, Helcat-hazurim ( la heredad de los fuertes ), el cual está en Gabaón.
17 And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
Y hubo aquel día una batalla muy recia, donde Abner y los varones de Israel fueron vencidos de los siervos de David.
18 And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
Y estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia: Joab, y Abisai, y Asael. Este Asael era suelto de pies como un corzo del monte.
19 And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
El cual Asael siguió a Abner, yendo tras de él sin apartarse a diestra ni a siniestra.
20 Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
Y Abner miró atrás, y dijo: ¿No eres tú Asael? Y él respondió: Sí.
21 And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
Entonces Abner le dijo: Apártate a la derecha o a la izquierda, y agárrate alguno de los jóvenes, y toma para ti sus despojos. Pero Asael no quiso apartarse de en pos de él.
22 And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
Y Abner volvió a decir a Asael: Apártate de en pos de mí, porque te heriré derribándote en tierra, y después ¿cómo levantaré mi rostro a tu hermano Joab?
23 Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
Y no queriendo él irse, lo hirió Abner con el regatón de la lanza por la quinta costilla, y le salió la lanza por las espaldas, y cayó allí, y murió en aquel mismo sitio. Y todos los que venían por aquel lugar donde Asael había caído y estaba muerto, se paraban.
24 Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
Mas Joab y Abisai siguieron a Abner; y se les puso el sol cuando llegaron al collado de Amma, que está delante de Gía, junto al camino del desierto de Gabaón.
25 And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
Y se juntaron los hijos de Benjamín en un escuadrón con Abner, y se pararon en la cumbre del collado.
26 Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
Y Abner dio voces a Joab, diciendo: ¿Consumirá el cuchillo perpetuamente? ¿No sabes tú que al cabo sigue amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo no has de decir al pueblo que se vuelvan de seguir a sus hermanos?
27 And Joab said, As Elohim liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
Y Joab respondió: Vive Dios que si no hubieras hablado, ya desde esta mañana el pueblo hubiera dejado de seguir a sus hermanos.
28 So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
Entonces Joab tocó el cuerno, y todo el pueblo se detuvo, y no siguió más a los de Israel, ni peleó más.
29 And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
Y Abner y los suyos caminaron por la campiña toda aquella noche, y pasando el Jordán cruzaron por todo Bet-horón, y llegaron al real.
30 And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
Joab también volvió de seguir a Abner, y juntando todo el pueblo, faltaron de los siervos de David diecinueve hombres, y Asael.
31 But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.
Mas los siervos de David hirieron de los de Benjamín y de los de Abner, trescientos sesenta hombres, que murieron. Tomaron luego a Asael, y lo sepultaron en el sepulcro de su padre en Belén.
32 And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
Y caminaron toda aquella noche Joab y los suyos, y les amaneció en Hebrón.
