Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Riemuitkaat, te vanhurskaat, Herrassa; vakain pitää häntä kauniisti kiittämän.
2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing to him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Kiittäkäät Herraa kanteleilla, veisatkaat hänelle kiitosta kymmenkielisellä psaltarilla.
3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
Veisatkaat hänelle uusi virsi: veisatkaat jalosti kielten leikissä, helisemisellä.
4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
Sillä Herran sana on totinen, ja mitä hän lupaa, sen hän vahvana pitää.
5 He loves righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
Hän rakastaa vanhurskautta ja tuomiota; maa on täynnänsä Herran laupiutta.
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Herran sanalla ovat taivaat tehdyt, ja kaikki heidän joukkonsa hänen suunsa hengellä.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as an heap: he lays up the depth in storehouses.
Hän pitää koossa veden meressä niinkuin roukkiossa, ja kätkee syvyydet.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Peljätköön Herraa kaikki maa; häntä peljätköön kaikki maan piirin asuvaiset.
9 For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Sillä koska hän sanoo, niin se tapahtuu; jos hän käskee, niin se on tehty.
10 The LORD brings the counsel of the heathen to nothing: he makes the devices of the people of none effect.
Herra tekee pakanain neuvot tyhjäksi; hän saattaa kansain ajatukset turhaksi.
11 The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Mutta Herran neuvo pysyy ijankaikkisesti, hänen sydämensä ajatukset sukukunnasta sukukuntaan.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
Autuas on se kansa, jonka Herra on Jumala, se kansa, jonka hän itsellensä on perinnöksi valinnut.
13 The LORD looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men.
Herra katsoi taivaasta alas, ja näki kaikki ihmisten lapset.
14 From the place of his habitation he looks on all the inhabitants of the earth.
Vahvalta istuimeltansa katsoi hän kaikkia, jotka maan päällä asuvat.
15 He fashions their hearts alike; he considers all their works.
Hän valmistaa kaikkein heidän sydämensä: hän ymmärtää kaikki heidän työnsä.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
Ei kuningasta auta hänen suuri väkensä, eikä sankari vapahdeta suurella voimallansa.
17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
Orhiit ei myös auta; ja heidän suuri väkevyytensä ei pelasta.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on them that fear him, on them that hope in his mercy;
Katso, Herran silmät katsovat niitä, jotka häntä pelkäävät, jotka hänen laupiuteensa toivovat,
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Että hän pelastais heidän sielunsa kuolemasta, ja elättäis heitä nälän aikana.
20 Our soul waits for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
Meidän sielumme odottaa Herraa, joka on meidän apumme ja kilpemme!
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Sillä meidän sydämemme iloitsee hänessä, ja me toivomme hänen pyhään nimeensä.
22 Let your mercy, O LORD, be on us, according as we hope in you.
Olkoon sinun laupiutes, Herra, meidän päällämme, niinkuin me sinuun uskallamme!
