Proverbs 13
1 A wise son is instructed of his father; but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
बुद्धिमान् छोरोले आफ्नो बुबाको अर्ती सुन्छ, तर गिल्ला गर्नेले हप्कीलाई सुन्दैन ।
2 A man shall eat good from the fruit of his mouth; but the desire of the faithless is violence.
आफ्नो मुखको फलबाट मानिसले असल थोकहरूको भोग गर्दछ, तर विश्वासघातिको भोक हिंसाको लागि हुन्छ ।
3 He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; but for him that openeth wide his lips there shall be ruin.
आफ्नो मुखको रखवाली गर्नेले आफ्नो जीवनको रक्षा गर्छ, तर असावधान बोलीवचनले आफ्नै जीवन बर्बाद गर्ने छ ।
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be abundantly gratified.
अल्छे मानिसको भोकले लालस गर्छ, तर केही पाउँदैन, जब कि परिश्रमी मानिसको भोक पूर्ण रूपमा सन्तुष्ट हुने छ ।
5 A righteous man hateth lying; but a wicked man behaveth vilely and shamefully.
धर्मात्माले झुटलाई घृणा गर्छ, तर दुष्टले आफैलाई घृणित तुल्याउँछ, र लज्जास्पद कुरो गर्छ ।
6 Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
धार्मिकताले ती मानिसहरूको रक्षा गर्छ, जो आफ्नो मार्गमा दोषरहित छन्, तर दुष्टताले पाप गर्नेहरूलाई पल्टाइदिन्छ ।
7 There is that pretendeth himself rich, yet hath nothing; there is that pretendeth himself poor, yet hath great wealth.
कोही मानिस धनी भएजस्तो गर्छ, जब कि त्योसँग केही हुँदैन, र कसैले चाहिँ आफूसित भएको हरेक थोक दिन्छ, र पनि त्यो साँच्चै धनी हुन्छ ।
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches; but the poor heareth no threatening.
धनी मानिसको जीवनको छुटकारा उसको सम्पत्ति हो, तर गरिब मानिसले धम्की सुन्नुपर्दैन ।
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
धर्मात्माको बत्ती बलिरहन्छ, तर दुष्टको बत्ती निभाइने छ ।
10 By pride cometh only contention; but with the well-advised is wisdom.
घमण्डले केवल द्वन्द्व निम्त्याउँछ, तर असल सल्लाह सुन्नेसित बुद्धि हुन्छ ।
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; but he that gathereth little by little shall increase.
बेइमानीसित कमाएको धनको महत्त्व घट्दै जान्छ, तर आफ्नो हातले परिश्रम गरेर कमाएको धन बढ्दै जान्छ ।
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
आशालाई स्थगित गरिँदा यसले हृदय छिया-छिया पार्छ, तर पुरा भएको तृष्णा जीवनको रुख हो ।
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall suffer thereby; but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
अर्तीलाई तुच्छ ठान्नेले आफैमा विनाश ल्याउँछ, तर आज्ञालाई आदर गर्नेलाई इनाम दिइने छ ।
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
बुद्धिमान् मानिसको शिक्षा जीवनको फुहारा हो, जसले तपाईंलाई मृत्युका जालहरूबाट जोगाउँछ ।
15 Good understanding giveth grace; but the way of the faithless is harsh.
असल अन्तर्दृष्टिले स्नेह प्राप्त गर्छ, तर विश्वासघातिको चाल कहिल्यै टुङ्गोमा आउँदैन ।
16 Every prudent man dealeth with forethought; but a fool unfoldeth folly.
समझदार मानिसले आफ्नो ज्ञानअनुसार हरेक निर्णय गर्छ, तर मूर्खले आफ्नो मूर्खताको तमाशा देखाउँछ ।
17 A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health.
दुष्ट दूत सङ्कष्टमा फस्छ, तर विश्वासयोग्य दूतले मिलाप ल्याउँछ ।
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
अर्तीलाई बेवास्ता गर्नेले गरिबी र लाज पाउने छ, तर सुधारबाट सिक्ने जनमा आदर आउने छ ।
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; and it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
पुरा भएको इच्छा भोकको लागि मिठो हुन्छ, तर मूर्खहरू आफ्नो दुष्टताबाट फर्कन मन पराउँदैनन् ।
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise; but the companion of fools shall smart for it.
बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरूसित हिँड र तिमी पनि बुद्धिमान् हुने छौ, तर मूर्खहरूको सङ्गत गर्नेले नोक्सानी भोग्ने छ ।
21 Evil pursueth sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
विपत्तिले पापीहरूलाई खेद्ने छ, तर धर्मी मानिसले भलाइको इनाम पाउने छ ।
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
असल व्यक्तिले आफ्ना नाति-नातिनाहरूका निम्ति पैतृक-सम्पत्ति छाड्छ, तर पापीको सम्पत्ति धर्मी व्यक्तिको लागि सञ्चय गरिन्छ ।
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor; but there is that is swept away by want of righteousness.
गरिब मानिसको नजोतिएको खेतबारीले प्रशस्तै अन्न उब्जाउला, तर अन्यायले त्यसलाई खोसेर लैजान्छ ।
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
आफ्नो छोरोलाई अनुशासनमा नराख्नेले उसलाई घृणा गर्छ, तर आफ्नो छोरोलाई प्रेम गर्नेले उसलाई होसियारीसाथ अर्ती दिन्छ ।
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his desire; but the belly of the wicked shall want.
आफ्नो भोक तृप्त नभएसम्म धर्मात्माले खान्छ, तर दुष्टको पेट सधैँ भोकभोकै हुन्छ ।
