John 3
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, the name to him Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
C'era tra i farisei un uomo chiamato Nicodèmo, un capo dei Giudei.
2 the same came to Him by night, and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come a teacher from God; for no one is able to do these miracles, which thou art doing, unless God may he with him.
Egli andò da Gesù, di notte, e gli disse: «Rabbì, sappiamo che sei un maestro venuto da Dio; nessuno infatti può fare i segni che tu fai, se Dio non è con lui».
3 Jesus responded and said to him, Truly, truly, I say unto thee, unless any one may be born from above, he is not able to see the kingdom of God.
Gli rispose Gesù: «In verità, in verità ti dico, se uno non rinasce dall'alto, non può vedere il regno di Dio».
4 Nicodemus says to him; How is a man able to be born, being old? whether he is able to enter the second time into the womb of his mother, and be born?
Gli disse Nicodèmo: «Come può un uomo nascere quando è vecchio? Può forse entrare una seconda volta nel grembo di sua madre e rinascere?».
5 Jesus responded, Truly, truly, I say unto thee, Unless any one may be born of water and Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Gli rispose Gesù: «In verità, in verità ti dico, se uno non nasce da acqua e da Spirito, non può entrare nel regno di Dio.
6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh; and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.
Quel che è nato dalla carne è carne e quel che è nato dallo Spirito è Spirito.
7 Be not astonished because I said to thee; It behooveth you to be born from above.
Non ti meravigliare se t'ho detto: dovete rinascere dall'alto.
8 The Spirit breathes on whom He willeth, and thou hearest His voice, but dost not know whence He cometh and whither He goeth; so is every one who has been born of the Spirit.
Il vento soffia dove vuole e ne senti la voce, ma non sai di dove viene e dove va: così è di chiunque è nato dallo Spirito».
9 Nicodemus responded and said to Him, How are these things able to he?
Replicò Nicodèmo: «Come può accadere questo?».
10 Jesus responded and said to him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not these things?
Gli rispose Gesù: «Tu sei maestro in Israele e non sai queste cose?
11 Truly, truly, I say unto thee, that we speak what we know, and testify what we have seen; and you received not our testimony.
In verità, in verità ti dico, noi parliamo di quel che sappiamo e testimoniamo quel che abbiamo veduto; ma voi non accogliete la nostra testimonianza.
12 If I spoke to you things upon the earth, and you do net believe, how will you believe, if I speak to you of things in heaven?
Se vi ho parlato di cose della terra e non credete, come crederete se vi parlerò di cose del cielo?
13 No one hath ascended up into heaven, but the one having come down from heaven, the Son of man, who is in heaven.
Eppure nessuno è mai salito al cielo, fuorchè il Figlio dell'uomo che è disceso dal cielo.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so does it behoove the Son of man to be lifted up:
E come Mosè innalzò il serpente nel deserto, così bisogna che sia innalzato il Figlio dell'uomo,
perché chiunque crede in lui abbia la vita eterna». (aiōnios g166)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one believing on Him may not perish but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
Dio infatti ha tanto amato il mondo da dare il suo Figlio unigenito, perché chiunque crede in lui non muoia, ma abbia la vita eterna. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God sent not His Son into the world that He may condemn the world; but that the world through Him may be saved.
Dio non ha mandato il Figlio nel mondo per giudicare il mondo, ma perché il mondo si salvi per mezzo di lui.
18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not, has already been condemned, because he has not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Chi crede in lui non è condannato; ma chi non crede è gia stato condannato, perché non ha creduto nel nome dell'unigenito Figlio di Dio.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light; for their works are evil.
E il giudizio è questo: la luce è venuta nel mondo, ma gli uomini hanno preferito le tenebre alla luce, perché le loro opere erano malvagie.
20 For every one doing evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be convicted;
Chiunque infatti fa il male, odia la luce e non viene alla luce perché non siano svelate le sue opere.
21 but every one doing the truth comes to the light, that his works may be made manifest, because they have been wrought in God.
Ma chi opera la verità viene alla luce, perché appaia chiaramente che le sue opere sono state fatte in Dio.
22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the Judean country; and there He was tarrying with them and baptizing.
Dopo queste cose, Gesù andò con i suoi discepoli nella regione della Giudea; e là si trattenne con loro, e battezzava.
23 And John was also baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there were many waters there: and they came and baptized.
Anche Giovanni battezzava a Ennòn, vicino a Salìm, perché c'era là molta acqua; e la gente andava a farsi battezzare.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
Giovanni, infatti, non era stato ancora imprigionato.
25 And there was a disputation of the disciples of John, concerning purifying.
Nacque allora una discussione tra i discepoli di Giovanni e un Giudeo riguardo la purificazione.
26 And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, He who is with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all are coming to Him.
Andarono perciò da Giovanni e gli dissero: «Rabbì, colui che era con te dall'altra parte del Giordano, e al quale hai reso testimonianza, ecco sta battezzando e tutti accorrono a lui».
27 John responded and said, No man is able to receive anything, unless it may have been given unto him from heaven.
Giovanni rispose: «Nessuno può prendersi qualcosa se non gli è stato dato dal cielo.
28 You are witnessing to me, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before Him.
Voi stessi mi siete testimoni che ho detto: Non sono io il Cristo, ma io sono stato mandato innanzi a lui.
29 The one having the bride is the Bridegroom: but the friend of the Bridegroom is the one standing and hearing him, rejoiceth with joy on account of the Bridegroom: This, my joy has been made complete.
Chi possiede la sposa è lo sposo; ma l'amico dello sposo, che è presente e l'ascolta, esulta di gioia alla voce dello sposo. Ora questa mia gioia è compiuta.
30 It behooveth Him to increase, and me to decrease.
Egli deve crescere e io invece diminuire.
31 He that cometh from above is above all;
Chi viene dall'alto è al di sopra di tutti; ma chi viene dalla terra, appartiene alla terra e parla della terra. Chi viene dal cielo è al di sopra di tutti.
32 the one being of the earth is of the earth, and speaks of the earth. The one coming from heaven witnesses what He has seen and heard, and no one receives His testimony.
Egli attesta ciò che ha visto e udito, eppure nessuno accetta la sua testimonianza;
33 The one having received His testimony hath set his seal, that God is true.
chi però ne accetta la testimonianza, certifica che Dio è veritiero.
34 For whom God sent speaketh the words of God: for He does not give His spirit by measure.
Infatti colui che Dio ha mandato proferisce le parole di Dio e dà lo Spirito senza misura.
35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things in His hands.
Il Padre ama il Figlio e gli ha dato in mano ogni cosa.
