Revelation 13
1 And I stood on the sea sand. And I saw a beast rise out of the sea, hauing seuen heads, and ten hornes, and vpon his hornes were ten crownes, and vpon his heads the name of blasphemie.
Ensuite, je vis monter de la mer une bête qui avait dix cornes et sept têtes, et sur ses cornes dix diadèmes, et sur les sept têtes des noms blasphématoires.
2 And the beast which I sawe, was like a Leopard, and his feete like a beares, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gaue him his power and his throne, and great authoritie.
La bête que je vis ressemblait au léopard; ses pieds étaient comme ceux de l'ours, et sa gueule comme celle du lion; et le dragon lui donna sa puissance, son trône, et une grande autorité.
3 And I sawe one of his heads as it were wounded to death, but his deadly wound was healed, and all the world wondred and folowed the beast.
L'une de ses têtes était comme blessée à mort; mais cette blessure mortelle fut guérie, et la terre entière, saisie d'admiration, suivit la bête.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gaue power vnto the beast, and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like vnto the beast! who is able to warre with him!
On se mit à adorer le dragon, parce qu'il avait donné le pouvoir à la bête; et l'on adora la bête elle-même, en disant: Qui est semblable à la bête, et qui peut combattre contre elle?
5 And there was giuen vnto him a mouth, that spake great things and blasphemies, and power was giuen vnto him, to doe two and fourtie moneths.
Une bouche lui fut donnée, qui proférait des paroles orgueilleuses et des blasphèmes; et il lui fut donné le pouvoir d'agir pendant quarante-deux mois.
6 And he opened his mouth vnto blasphemie against God, to blaspheme his Name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heauen.
La bête ouvrit donc la bouche pour proférer des blasphèmes contre Dieu, pour blasphémer son nom, son tabernacle et ceux qui habitent dans le ciel.
7 And it was giuen vnto him to make warre with the Saints, and to ouercome them, and power was giuen him ouer euery kinred, and tongue, and nation.
Il lui fut donné de faire la guerre aux saints et de les vaincre. Le pouvoir lui fut aussi accordé sur toute tribu, sur tout peuple, sur toute langue et sur toute nation.
8 Therefore all that dwell vpon the earth, shall worship him, whose names are not written in the booke of life of that Lambe, which was slaine from the beginning of the world.
Tous les habitants de la terre l'adorèrent, tous ceux dont les noms ne sont pas écrits dans le livre de la vie de l'Agneau, qui a été immolé dès la fondation du monde.
9 If any man haue an eare, let him heare.
Que celui qui a des oreilles, entende!...
10 If any leade into captiuitie, hee shall go into captiuitie: if any kill with a sword, he must be killed by a sword: here is the patience and the faith of the Saints.
Celui qui emmène avec lui des captifs, sera lui-même captif; celui qui tue avec l'épée, doit périr lui-même par l'épée. Ici se montrent la patience et la foi des saints.
11 And I beheld another beast comming vp out of the earth, which had two hornes like the Lambe, but he spake like the dragon.
Je vis encore monter de la terre une autre bête, qui avait deux cornes semblables à celles d'un agneau, et qui parlait comme un dragon.
12 And he did all that the first beast could doe before him, and he caused the earth, and them which dwell therein, to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Elle exerçait tout le pouvoir de la première bête en sa présence, et elle obligeait la terre et ses habitants à adorer la première bête, dont la blessure mortelle avait été guérie.
13 And he did great wonders, so that hee made fire to come downe from heauen on the earth, in the sight of men,
Elle opérait de grands prodiges, jusqu'à faire descendre le feu du ciel sur la terre, à la vue des hommes.
14 And deceiued them that dwell on the earth by the signes, which were permitted to him to doe in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make the image of the beast, which had the wound of a sword, and did liue.
Elle séduisait les habitants de la terre par les prodiges qu'il lui avait été donné d'accomplir en présence de la bête; elle disait aux habitants de la terre de faire une image en honneur de la bête, qui avait été blessée par l'épée et qui était revenue à la vie.
15 And it was permitted to him to giue a spirit vnto the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast should speake, and should cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast, should be killed.
Il lui fut donné aussi d'animer l'image de la bête, afin que cette image parlât, et qu'elle fît mettre à mort tous ceux qui n'adoraient pas l'image de la bête.
16 And he made all, both small and great, rich and poore, free and bond, to receiue a marke in their right hand or in their foreheads,
Elle entraînait tous les hommes, petits et grands, riches et pauvres, libres et esclaves, à prendre une marque sur leur main droite ou sur leur front,
17 And that no man might buy or sell, saue hee that had the marke, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
en sorte que personne ne pouvait acheter ni vendre, sans avoir cette marque, c'est-à-dire le nom de la bête ou le nombre de son nom.
18 Here is wisdome. Let him that hath wit, count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and his number is sixe hundreth threescore and sixe.
Ici se montre la sagesse: Que celui qui a de l'intelligence calcule le nombre de la bête, car c'est un nombre d'hommes; et son nombre est six cent soixante-six.
