2 Kings 14
1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.
Amasías, hijo de Joás, llegó a ser rey de Judá en el segundo año del reinado de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.
Tenía veinticinco años cuando llegó a ser rey, y reinó en Jerusalén durante veintinueve años. Su madre se llamaba Joadán de Jerusalén.
3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.
Hizo lo que era correcto a los ojos del Señor, pero no de la misma manera que su antepasado David. Hizo todo como lo había hecho su padre Joás.
4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.
Pero los altares paganos no fueron destruidos. El pueblo seguía sacrificando y presentando holocaustos en esos lugares.
5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.
Una vez que estuvo seguro en el trono, ejecutó a los funcionarios que habían asesinado a su padre el rey.
6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.
Pero no ejecutó a los hijos de los asesinos, siguiendo el mandato del Señor en la ley de Moisés: “Los padres no deben morir por los pecados de sus hijos, ni los hijos deben morir por los pecados de sus padres. Cada uno debe morir por su propio pecado”.
7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.
Amasías mató a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal. Atacó y capturó Sela y la rebautizó como Joktheel, que es como se llama hasta hoy.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Amasías envió mensajeros al rey de Israel, Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, diciéndole: “Luchemos, cara a cara!”
9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.
Joás, rey de Israel, respondió a Amasías, rey de Judá: “En el Líbano, un cardo envió un mensaje a un cedro, diciendo: ‘Dale tu hija como esposa a mi hijo’. Pero pasó un animal salvaje del Líbano y pisoteó el cardo.
10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Puede que hayas derrotado a Edom. Ahora te has vuelto arrogante. Quédate en casa y disfruta de tu victoria. ¿Por qué provocar problemas que te harán caer a ti, y a Judá contigo?”
11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.
Pero Amasías se negó a escuchar, así que Joás, rey de Israel, vino a atacarlo. Él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se encontraron cara a cara en Bet Semes, en Judá.
12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.
El ejército de Judá fue derrotado por Israel y huyó a su casa.
13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
Joás, rey de Israel, capturó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet Semes. Entonces Joás atacó Jerusalén y derribó la muralla de la ciudad desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la Esquina, de unos cuatrocientos codos de longitud.
14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
Se llevó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los objetos que se encontraban en el Templo del Señor y en los tesoros del palacio real, y también algunos rehenes. Luego regresó a Samaria.
15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
El resto de lo que sucedió en el reinado de Joás, todo lo que hizo y sus grandes logros y su guerra con Amasías, rey de Judá, están registrados en el Libro de las Crónicas de los Reyes de Israel.
16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Joás murió y fue enterrado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel. Su hijo Jeroboam le sucedió como rey.
17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.
Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió quince años más después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
El resto de los acontecimientos que ocurrieron en el reinado de Amasías están registrados en el Libro de las Crónicas de los Reyes de Judá.
19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.
Una conspiración contra Amasías tuvo lugar en Jerusalén, y él huyó a Laquis. Pero se enviaron hombres tras él y lo asesinaron allí.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
Lo trajeron de vuelta a caballo y lo enterraron en Jerusalén con sus antepasados en la Ciudad de David.
21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.
Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá nombró rey al hijo de Amasías, Azarías, para que reemplazara a su padre. Azarías tenía dieciséis años.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.
Azarías reconquistó Elat para Judá y la reconstruyó después de la muerte de su padre.
23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.
Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, llegó a ser rey de Israel en el año quince del reinado de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá. Reinó en Samaria durante cuarenta y un años.
24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
Hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor y no puso fin a todos los pecados que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, había hecho cometer a Israel.
25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
Restituyó la frontera de Israel a donde estaba, desde Lebó-Jamat hasta el Mar de la Arabá, como el Señor, el Dios de Israel, había dicho por medio de su siervo Jonás, hijo de Amitai, el profeta, que venía de Gat-Jefer.
26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.
El Señor había visto lo mucho que estaban sufriendo los israelitas, tanto los esclavos como los libres. Nadie estaba allí para ayudar a Israel.
27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.
Sin embargo, como el Señor había dicho que no eliminaría a Israel, lo salvó por medio de Jeroboam, hijo de Joás.
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
El resto de lo que sucedió en el reinado de Jeroboam, todo lo que hizo, sus grandes logros y las batallas que libró, y cómo recuperó para Israel tanto Damasco como Jamat, están registrados en el Libro de las Crónicas de los Reyes de Israel.
29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Jeroboam murió y fue enterrado con los reyes de Israel. Su hijo Zacarías le sucedió como rey.
