2 Chronicles 18
1 And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.
૧યહોશાફાટ રાજાની પાસે પુષ્કળ પ્રમાણમાં સંપત્તિ હતી અને તે ઘણો લોકપ્રિય હતો. તેણે પોતાના દીકરાનું લગ્ન આહાબની પુત્રી સાથે કરીને તેની સાથે આહાબની સાથે સગાઈના સંબંધ બાંધ્યો.
2 And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.
૨થોડાં વર્ષો પછી, તે આહાબને મળવા સમરુન ગયો. આહાબે તેની અને તેની સાથે જે માણસો હતા તેઓની મોટી સંખ્યામાં ઘેટાં અને બળદોની મિજબાની આપી. અને પોતાની સાથે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરવા આહાબને સમજાવ્યો. તેથી રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પરની ચઢાઈમાં આહાબે પણ યહોશાફાટને સાથ આપ્યો.
3 And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.
૩ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબે યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “તમે મારી સાથે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈમાં આવશો?” યહોશાફાટે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હું તારા જેવો છું અને મારા લોકો પણ તારા લોકો છે; અમે તારી સાથે યુદ્ધમાં રહીશું.”
4 And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.
૪યહોશાફાટે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને કહ્યું, “તમારા ઉત્તર માટે પ્રથમ તમે ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છાને શોધો.”
5 Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
૫પછી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ ચારસો પ્રબોધકોને ભેગા કર્યા અને તેઓને પૂછ્યું, “અમારે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ ઉપર ચઢાઈ કરવી કે નહિ?” તેઓએ કહ્યું, “હુમલો કરો, કેમ કે ઈશ્વર રાજાને વિજય આપશે.”
6 But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?
૬પણ યહોશાફાટે પૂછ્યું, “અહીં ઈશ્વરનો બીજો કોઈ પ્રબોધક નથી કે જેની આપણે સલાહ પૂછીએ?”
7 And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.
૭ઇઝરાયલનો રાજાએ તેને કહ્યું, “હજી એક માણસ છે જેની મારફતે આપણે ઈશ્વરની સલાહ પૂછી શકીએ, પણ હું તેનો તિરસ્કાર કરું છું, કારણ કે તેણે કદી મારા વિષે સારું ભવિષ્ય કહ્યું નથી, પણ ફક્ત માઠું જ કહ્યું છે, તે તો ઈમલાહનો પુત્ર મિખાયા છે.” પણ યહોશાફાટે કહ્યું, “રાજાએ એવું ન બોલવું જોઈએ, આપણે તેનું પણ સાંભળીએ.”
8 And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.
૮પછી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ એક અધિકારીને બોલાવીને કહ્યું, “ઈમલાહના દીકરા મિખાયાને જલ્દી બોલાવી લાવો.”
9 And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.
૯હવે, ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા આહાબ અને યહૂદાનો રાજા યહોશાફાટ રાજપોશાક પહેરીને સમરુનના દરવાજાની આગળ ખુલ્લી જગ્યામાં પોતપોતાનાં સિંહાસન પર બેઠા અને બધા પ્રબોધકો તેઓની આગળ પોતપોતાની પ્રબોધવાણીઓ સંભળાવતા હતા.
10 And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.
૧૦કેનાહના દીકરા સિદકિયાએ પોતાને માટે લોખંડનાં શિંગડાં બનાવડાવ્યા હતાં. તે બતાવીને બોલ્યો, “ઈશ્વર એવું કહે છે, ‘અરામીઓનો નાશ થતાં સુધી આવાં શિંગ વડે તમે તેમને હઠાવશો.’”
11 And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
૧૧સર્વ પ્રબોધકોએ એવો જ પ્રબોધ કર્યો હતો, “રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરીને વિજયી થાઓ; કારણ કે ઈશ્વરે તેને રાજાના હાથમાં આપી દીધું છે.”
12 And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
૧૨જે સંદેશવાહક મિખાયાને બોલાવવા ગયો હતો તેણે મિખાયાને કહ્યું, “હવે જો, બધા પ્રબોધકો એક સાથે રાજાને માટે સારું ભવિષ્ય કહે છે. કૃપા કરી તારું કહેવું પણ તેમના જેવું જ હોય તો સારું.”
13 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.
૧૩મિખાયાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “જીવતા ઈશ્વરના સમ કે, મારા પ્રભુ મને જે કહેશે તે જ હું બોલીશ.”
14 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.
૧૪જયારે તે રાજા પાસે આવ્યો, ત્યારે રાજાએ તેને કહ્યું, “મિખાયા, અમે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરીએ કે ન કરીએ?” મિખાયાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “ચઢાઈ કરીને વિજય પામો! કેમ કે એ મોટો વિજય હશે.”
15 And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?
૧૫પછી રાજાએ તેને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વરને નામે મને કેવળ સત્ય જ કહેવા માટે મારે તારી પાસે કેટલી વાર સમ લેવડાવવા?”
16 Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.
૧૬તેથી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “મેં સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓને પાળક વગરનાં ઘેટાંની જેમ પર્વતો ઉપર વિખેરાઈ ગયેલા જોયા અને ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું, ‘એમનો કોઈ પાળક નથી. તેઓ દરેક પોતપોતાને ઘરે શાંતિથી પાછા જાય.’”
17 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?
૧૭તેથી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “શું મેં તને નહોતું કહ્યું કે તે મારા સંબંધી સારું નહિ, પણ માઠું ભવિષ્ય ભાખશે?”
18 Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.
૧૮પછી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “તમે સર્વ ઈશ્વરનું વચન સાંભળો મેં ઈશ્વરને તેમના સિંહાસન પર બેઠેલા જોયા છે અને આકાશનું આખું સૈન્ય તેમને જમણે હાથે તથા ડાબે હાથે ઊભેલું હતું.
19 And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
૧૯ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું, ‘કોણ ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબને ફોસલાવીને રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ લઈ જાય કે ત્યાં તે માર્યો જાય?’ ત્યારે એકે આમ કહ્યું અને બીજાએ તેમ કહ્યું.
20 Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?
૨૦પછી એક આત્માએ આગળ આવીને ઈશ્વરની સમક્ષ ઊભા રહીને કહ્યું, ‘હું તેને ફોસલાવીશ.’ ઈશ્વરે તેને પૂછ્યું, ‘કેવી રીતે?’
21 And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.
૨૧આત્માએ જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘ત્યાં જઈને હું તેના બધા પ્રબોધકોના મુખમાં જૂઠું બોલનાર આત્મા થઈશ.’ ઈશ્વરે જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘તું તેને ફોસલાવશે અને તું સફળ પણ થશે. હવે જઈને એમ કર.’”
22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.
૨૨હવે જો, ઈશ્વરે આ તારા પ્રબોધકોના મુખમાં જૂઠું બોલનાર આત્મા મૂક્યો છે અને ઈશ્વર તારા સંબંધી અશુભ બોલ્યા છે.”
23 Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?
૨૩ત્યારે કેનાહના દીકરા સિદકિયાએ ઉપર આવીને મિખાયાને તેના ગાલ પર તમાચો મારીને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વરનો આત્મા તારી સાથે બોલવાને મારી પાસેથી ક્યા માર્ગે થઈને ગયો?”
24 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
૨૪મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “જો, જે દિવસે તું સંતાવાને અંદરના ઓરડામાં ભરાઈ જશે તે દિવસે તું તે જોશે.”
25 And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,
૨૫ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ કેટલાક ચાકરોને કહ્યું, “મિખાયાને પકડીને તેને નગરના રાજ્યપાલ આમોનની પાસે તથા મારા દીકરા યોઆશની પાસે પાછો લઈ જાઓ.
26 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.
૨૬તમે તેમને કહેજો કે, ‘રાજા કહે છે, આને જેલમાં પૂરો અને હું સુરક્ષિત પાછો આવું ત્યાં સુધી તેને થોડી જ રોટલી તથા થોડું જ પાણી આપજો.’”
27 And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.
૨૭પછી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “જો તું સુરક્ષિત પાછો ફરે તો ઈશ્વર મારા દ્વારા બોલ્યા નથી એમ સમજવું.” વળી તેણે કહ્યું, “હે સર્વ લોકો તમે આ સાંભળો.”
28 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
૨૮તેથી ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબે તથા યહૂદિયાના યહોશાફાટે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરી.
29 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.
૨૯ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “હું મારો વેશ બદલીને યુદ્ધમાં જઈશ, પણ તમે તમારો રાજપોષાક પહેરી રાખજો.” તેથી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ વેશ બદલ્યો અને તેઓ યુદ્ધમાં ગયા.
30 And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.
૩૦હવે અરામના રાજાએ પોતાના રથાધિપતિઓને એવી આજ્ઞા આપી હતી કે, “તમારે ઇઝરાયલના રાજા સિવાય બીજા કોઈની પર હુમલો કરવો નહિ.”
31 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.
૩૧અને એમ થયું કે જયારે રથાધિપતિઓએ યહોશાફાટને જોયો ત્યારે તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, “આ ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા છે.” માટે તેઓ તેની સાથે લડવાને આવ્યા, પણ યહોશાફાટે બૂમ પાડી અને ઈશ્વરે તેને મદદ કરી. ઈશ્વરે તેઓનાં મન ફેરવ્યાં.
32 For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
૩૨અને એમ થયું કે જયારે રથાધિપતિઓએ જોયું કે એ તો ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા નથી, ત્યારે તેઓ તેની પાછળ ન પડતાં પાછા ફર્યા.
33 Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.
૩૩પણ એક માણસે અનાયાસે ધનુષ્ય ખેંચીને ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને કવચના સાંધાની વચમાં બાણ માર્યું. પછી આહાબે પોતાના સારથિને કહ્યું, “રથ ફેરવીને મને યુદ્ધમાંથી બહાર લઈ જા, કેમ કે હું બહુ ખરાબ રીતે ઘવાયો છું.”
34 And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
૩૪તે દિવસે ભીષણ યુદ્ધ ખેલાયું અને ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને ટેકો આપીને અરામીઓની સામે રથમાં સાંજ સુધી ટટ્ટાર બેસાડી રાખ્યો હતો. આશરે સૂર્યાસ્ત થતાં તે મરણ પામ્યો.
