1 Samuel 21

1 Then came Dauid to Nob, to Ahimelech the Priest, and Ahimelech was astonied at the meeting of Dauid, and saide vnto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

David aber kam gen Nobe zum Priester Ahimelech. Und Ahimelech entsetzte sich, da er David entgegenging, und sprach zu ihm: Warum kommst du allein und ist kein Mann mit dir?

2 And Dauid saide to Ahimelech the Priest, The King hath commanded mee a certaine thing, and hath sayd vnto me, Let no man know whereabout I sende thee, and what I haue commanded thee: and I haue appointed my seruants to such and such places.

David sprach zu Ahimelech, dem Priester: Der König hat mir eine Sache befohlen und sprach zu mir: Laß niemand wissen, warum ich dich gesandt habe und was ich dir befohlen habe. Denn ich habe auch meine Knaben etwa hie oder daher beschieden.

3 Nowe therefore if thou hast ought vnder thine hande, giue me fiue cakes of bread, or what commeth to hand.

Hast du nun was unter deiner Hand, ein Brot oder fünf, die gib mir in meine Hand, oder was du findest.

4 And the Priest answered Dauid, and saide, There is no common bread vnder mine hande, but here is halowed bread, if the yong men haue kept themselues, at least from women.

Der Priester antwortete David und sprach: Ich habe kein gemein Brot unter meiner Hand, sondern heilig Brot; wenn sich nur die Knaben von Weibern enthalten hätten!

5 Dauid then answered the Priest, and sayde vnto him, Certainely women haue bene separarate from vs these two or three dayes since I came out: and the vessels of the yong men were holy, though the way were prophane, and how much more then shall euery one be sanctified this day in the vessell?

David antwortete dem Priester und sprach zu ihm: Es sind die Weiber drei Tage uns versperret gewesen, da ich auszog, und der Knaben Zeug war heilig; ist aber dieser Weg unheilig, so wird er heute geheiliget werden an dem Zeuge.

6 So the Priest gaue him halowed bread: for there was no bread there, saue the shewe bread that was taken from before the Lord, to put hote bread there, the day that it was taken away.

Da gab ihm der Priester des heiligen, weil kein ander Brot da war denn die Schaubrote, die man vor dem HERRN aufhub, daß man ander frisch Brot auflegen sollte des Tages, da er die weggenommen hatte.

7 (And there was the same day one of the seruants of Saul abiding before the Lord, named Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of Sauls heardmen)

Es war aber des Tages ein Mann drinnen versperret vor dem HERRN aus den Knechten Sauls mit Namen Doeg, ein Edomiter, der mächtigste unter den Hirten Sauls.

8 And Dauid said vnto Ahimelech, Is there not here vnder thine hand a speare or a sworde? for I haue neither brought my sworde nor mine harnesse with me, because the Kings businesse required haste.

Und David sprach zu Ahimelech: Ist nicht hie unter deiner Hand ein Spieß oder Schwert? Ich habe mein Schwert und Waffen nicht mit mir genommen; denn die Sache des Königs war eilend.

9 And the Priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistim, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapt in a cloth behinde the Ephod: if thou wilt take that to thee, take it: for there is none other saue that here: And Dauid sayd, There is none to that, giue it me.

Der Priester sprach: Das Schwert des Philisters Goliath, den du schlugest im Eichgrunde, das ist hie, gewickelt in einen Mantel hinter dem Leibrock. Willst du dasselbige, so nimm's hin, denn es ist hie kein anderes denn das. David sprach: Es ist seinesgleichen nicht; gib mir's!

10 And Dauid arose and fled the same day from the presence of Saul, and went to Achish the King of Gath.

Und David machte sich auf und floh vor Saul; und kam zu Achis, dem Könige zu Gath.

11 And the seruants of Achish said vnto him, Is not this Dauid the King of the land? did they not sing vnto him in daunces, saying, Saul hath slayne his thousand, and Dauid his ten thousande?

Aber die Knechte Achis sprachen zu ihm: Das ist der David, des Landes König, von dem sie sangen am Reigen und sprachen: Saul schlug tausend, David aber zehntausend.

12 And Dauid considered these wordes, and was sore afraide of Achish the King of Gath.

Und David nahm die Rede zu Herzen und fürchtete sich sehr vor Achis, dem Könige zu Gath.

13 And hee changed his behauiour before them, and fayned him selfe mad in their handes, and scrabled on the doores of the gate, and let his spettel fall downe vpon his beard.

Und verstellete seine Gebärde vor ihnen und kollerte unter ihren Händen und stieß sich an die Tür am Tor, und sein Geifer floß ihm in den Bart.

14 Then said Achish vnto his seruants, Lo, ye see the man is beside him selfe, wherefore haue ye brought him to me?

Da sprach Achis zu seinen Knechten: Siehe, ihr sehet, daß der Mann unsinnig ist; warum habt ihr ihn zu mir gebracht?

15 Haue I neede of mad men, that ye haue brought this fellowe to play the mad man in my presence? shall he come into mine house?

Habe ich der Unsinnigen zu wenig, daß ihr diesen herbrächtet, daß er neben mir rasete? Sollte der in mein Haus kommen?
