1 Beniamin also begate Bela his eldest sonne, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,
Benjamin had five sons: Bela, Ashbel, Aharah,
2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fift.
Nohah, and Rapha.
3 And the sonnes of Bela were Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,
The sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, Abihud,
4 And Abishua, and Naaman and Ahoah,
Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,
5 And Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.
Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 And these are the sonnes of Ehud: these were the chiefe fathers of those that inhabited Geba: and they were caryed away captiues to Monahath,
[One of Gera’s sons was Ehud.] The descendants of Ehud were leaders of their clans who lived in Geba [city], but they were forced to move to Manahath [city].
7 And Naaman, and Ahiah, and Gera, he caryed them away captiues: and he begate Vzza, and Ahihud.
Ehud’s sons/descendants were Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. Gera was the one who led them when they moved to Manahath. Gera was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
8 And Shaharaim begate certaine in the coutrey of Moab, after he had sent away Hushim and Baara his wiues.
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shaharaim]. He and his wife Hushim had two sons, Abitub and Elpaal. In [the] Moab [region], Shaharaim divorced Hushim and his other wife Baara. [Then he married a woman whose name was] Hodesh, and they had [seven sons]: Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. They were all leaders of their clans.
9 He begate, I say, of Hodesh his wife, Iobab and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcham,
10 And Ieuz and Shachia and Mirma: these were his sonnes, and chiefe fathers.
11 And of Hushim he begat Ahitub and Elpaal.
12 And the sonnes of Elpaal were Eber, and Misham and Shamed (which built Ono, and Lod, and the villages thereof)
Elpaal’s sons were Eber, Misham, Shemed, Beriah, and Shema. Shemed built [the towns of] Ono and Lod, and the nearby villages. Beriah and Shema were leaders of their clans, who lived in Aijalon [city]. They forced the people who lived in Gath [city] to leave their city.
13 And Beriah and Shema (which were the chiefe fathers among the inhabitants of Aialon: they draue away the inhabitants of Gath)
14 And Ahio, Shashak and Ierimoth,
Beriah’s sons were Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, Michael, Ishpah, and Joha.
15 And Sebadiah, and Arad, and Ader,
16 And Michael, and Ispah, and Ioha, the sonnes of Beriah,
17 And Zebadiah, and Meshullam, and Hizki, and Heber,
[Other] descendants of Elpaal were Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber,
18 And Ishmerai and Izliah, and Iobab, the sonnes of Elpaal,
Ishmerai, Izliah, and Jobab.
19 Iakim also, and Zichri, and Sabdi,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shimei.] Shimei’s descendants included Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath.
20 And Elienai, and Zillethai, and Eliel,
21 And Adaiah, and Beraiah, and Shimrah the sonnes of Shimei,
22 And Ishpan, and Eber, and Eliel,
Shashak’s sons were Ishpan, Eber, Eliel,
23 And Abdon, and Zichri, and Hanan,
Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
24 And Hananiah, and Elam, and Antothiiah,
Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah,
25 Iphedeiah and Penuel ye sonnes of Shashak,
Iphdeiah, and Penuel.
26 And Shamsherai, and Shehariah, and Athaliah,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeroham, whose sons were Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zicri.
27 And Iaareshiah, and Eliah, and Zichri, the sonnes of Ieroham.
28 These were the chiefe fathers according to their generations, euen princes, which dwelt in Ierusalem.
In the records of these clans it is written that all those men were leaders of their clans, and they lived in Jerusalem.
29 And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, and the name of his wife was Maachah.
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeiel. He lived in Gibeon [town], and he was the leader there. His wife was Maacah.
30 And his eldest sonne was Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,
His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
31 And Gidor, and Ahio, and Zacher.
Gedor, Ahio, Zeker,
32 And Mikloth begate Shimeah: these also dwelt with their brethren in Ierusalem, euen by their brethren.
and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. All these sons of Jeiel also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
33 And Ner begate Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begate Ionathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of [King] Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
34 And the sonne of Ionathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal begate Micah.
Jonathan’s son was Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.
35 And the sonnes of Micah were Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.
Micah’s sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 And Ahaz begate Iehoadah, and Iehoadah begate Alemeth, and Azmaueth, and Zimri, and Zimri begate Moza,
Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
37 And Moza begate Bineah, whose sonne was Raphah, and his sonne Eleasah, and his sonne Azel.
Moza was the father of Binea. The son of Binea was Raphah. The son of Raphah was Eleasah. The son of Eleasah was Azel.
38 And Azel had sixe sonnes, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: all these were the sonnes of Azel.
Azel had six sons: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.
39 And the sonnes of Eshek his brother were Vlam his eldest sonne, Iehush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
Azel’s [younger] brother was Eshek. Eshek’s oldest son was Ulam. His other sons were Jeush and Eliphelet.
40 And the sonnes of Vlam were valiant men of warre which shot with the bow, and had many sonnes and nephewes, an hundreth and fiftie: all these were of the sonnes of Beniamin.
Ulam’s sons were brave warriors and (good archers/able to shoot arrows well). Altogether they had 150 sons and grandsons. Those were the descendants of Benjamin.
