1 Thessalonians 5
1 Brothers and sisters, we don't need to write anything to you about prophetic times and dates.
Pero sobre los tiempos y su orden, mis hermanos, no hay necesidad de que les diga nada.
2 You yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
Porque ustedes saben que el día del Señor vendrá como ladrón en la noche.
3 When people talk about peace and security suddenly they will be completely ruined. It will be just like the sudden onset of childbirth, and they certainly won't escape.
Cuando dicen: Hay paz y no peligro, vendrá sobre ellos destrucción repentina, como dolores de parto en una mujer encinta; y no podrán escapar de eso.
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark about this so that you won't be caught by surprise when the Day of Judgment arrives suddenly like a thief.
Pero ustedes, mis hermanos, no están a oscuras, para que ese día los alcance como a un ladrón.
5 For you are all children of light and children of the day. We don't belong to the night or to darkness.
Porque todos ustedes son hijos de la luz y del día; no somos de la noche ni de la oscuridad.
6 So then we shouldn't be sleeping like everybody else—we should stay awake and keep ourselves clear-headed.
Entonces, no descansemos como lo hacen los demás, pero seamos alertas y sobrios.
7 For it's during the night that people sleep; and it's at night that they get drunk.
Porque los que duermen lo hacen en la noche; y los que se emborrachan, se emborrachan de noche;
8 But since we belong to the day we should keep our heads clear, strapping on the breastplate of trust and love, and putting on as a helmet the hope of salvation.
Pero nosotros, que somos del día, seamos serios, poniéndonos la coraza de la fe y el amor, y sobre nuestras cabezas, como un casco la esperanza de la salvación.
9 For God hasn't placed us in a position to be punished, but has reserved us for salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Porque el propósito de Dios para nosotros no es la ira, sino la salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
10 He's the one who died for us so that whether we're alive or dead we shall live together with him.
Quien murió por nosotros, para que, despierto o durmiendo, tengamos parte en su vida.
11 So encourage and strengthen one another, just as you are doing.
Entonces, continúen consolando y edificándose unos a otros, como lo han estado haciendo.
12 Brothers and sisters, we're asking you to respect those who work with you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you.
Pero les pedimos esto, hermanos míos: respeten y valoren a los que trabajan entre ustedes, que están sobre ustedes en el Señor para mantener el orden entre ustedes;
13 You should value them highly in love for the work they do. Live in peace with each other.
Y tengan una alta opinión y amor a causa de su trabajo. Estén en paz entre ustedes mismos,
14 We urge you, brothers and sisters, to warn those who are lazy, encourage those who are anxious, help those who are weak, and be patient with everyone.
Y nuestro deseo es que mantengan el control sobre aquellos cuyas vidas no están bien ordenadas, dando consuelo a los débiles de corazón, apoyando a aquellos con poca fuerza y Sean pacientes con todos.
15 Make sure none of you pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to one another, and to everyone.
Que nadie dé mal por mal; pero siempre vean lo que es bueno, el uno para el otro y para todos.
16 Always be full of joy,
Tener alegría en todo momento.
17 never stop praying,
Oren sin cesar.
18 be thankful in every situation—because this is what God in Christ Jesus wants you to do.
En todo da gloria, porque este es el propósito de Dios en Cristo Jesús para ustedes.
19 Don't hold the Spirit back,
No apagues el fuego del Espíritu;
20 don't look down on prophecy,
No menosprecies las profecías;
21 make sure to check everything. Hold onto whatever is good;
Someterlo todo a prueba; mantener lo que es bueno;
22 keep away from every kind of evil.
Absténganse de toda apariencia de maldad.
23 May the God of peace himself make you completely holy, and may your whole being—body, mind and spirit—be kept blameless for when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
Y que el Dios de la paz los santifique a todos; y que su espíritu y alma y cuerpo sean libres de todo pecado en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
24 The one who calls you is trustworthy, and he will do this.
Él que los ha llamado es fiel, es fiel y cumplirá todo esto.
25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us.
Hermanos, oren por nosotros.
26 Greet all the believers there affectionately.
Dale a todos los hermanos un beso santo.
27 I'm requiring you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the believers.
Doy órdenes en el nombre del Señor de que todos los hermanos estén presentes en la lectura de esta carta.
28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con ustedes. Amén.
