Proverbs 19

1 Better is the poor man, that walketh in his simplicity, than a rich man that is perverse in his lips, and unwise.

১যার কথাবার্তা বিকৃত এবং বোকা তার থেকে যে সততায় চলে সে ভালো।

2 Where there is no knowledge of the soul, there is no good: and he that is hasty with his feet shall stumble.

২এছাড়া, ইচ্ছা জ্ঞানবিহীন হলে মঙ্গল নেই এবং যে তাড়াতাড়ি দৌড়ায়, সে নিজের পথে ব্যর্থ হয়।

3 The folly of a man supplanteth his seeps: and he fretteth in his mind against God.

৩মানুষের বোকামিতা তার জীবনের সর্বনাশ এবং তার হৃদয় সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে দারুণ ক্রোধ করে।

4 Riches make many friends: but from the poor man, even they whom he had, depart.

৪অর্থ অনেক বন্ধুকে একত্রিত করে; কিন্তু গরিব লোক নিজের বন্ধুর থেকে আলাদা হয়।

5 A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

৫মিথ্যাসাক্ষী অদন্ডিত থাকবে না, যে মিথ্যা কথা বলে সে মুক্তি পাবে না।

6 Many honour the person of him that is mighty, and are friends of him that giveth gifts.

৬অনেকে উদার ব্যক্তির অনুগ্রহ চায় এবং যে উপহার দেয় সবাই তার বন্ধু হয়।

7 The brethren of the poor man hate him: moreover also his friends have departed far from him. He that followeth after words only, shall have nothing.

৭গরিব লোকের ভাইয়েরা সবাই তাকে ঘৃণা করে, আরও নিশ্চয়, তার বন্ধুরা তার থেকে দূরে যায়; সে অনুনয়ের সঙ্গে তাদের খোঁজ করে, কিন্তু তারা চলে গেছে।

8 But he that possesseth a mind, loveth his own soul, and he that keepeth prudence shall find good things.

৮যে বুদ্ধি পায়, সে নিজের প্রাণকে ভালবাসে, যে বিবেচনা রক্ষা করে, সে যা ভালো তাই পায়।

9 A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall perish.

৯মিথ্যাসাক্ষী অদন্ডিত থাকবে না, কিন্তু যে মিথ্যা কথা বলে সে বিনষ্ট হবে।

10 Delicacies are not seemly for a fool: nor for a servant to have rule over princes.

১০বিলাসিতায় বাস করা একজন নির্বোধের পক্ষে মানানসই নয়, নেতাদের ওপরে কর্তৃত্ব করা দাসের জন্যে আরও অনুপযুক্ত।

11 The learning of a man is known by patience and his glory is to pass over wrongs.

১১বিচক্ষণতা একজন মানুষকে ক্রোধে ধীর করে এবং দোষ উপেক্ষা করা তার গৌরব।

12 As the roaring of a lion, so also is the anger of a king: and his cheerfulness as the dew upon the grass.

১২রাজার ক্রোধ তরুণ সিংহের গর্জনের মতো; কিন্তু তাঁর অনুগ্রহ ঘাসের ওপরের শিশিরের মতো।

13 A foolish son is the grief of his father: and a wrangling wife is like a roof continually dropping through.

১৩নির্বোধ ছেলে তার বাবার সর্বনাশজনক, আর স্ত্রীর বিবাদ হল অবিরত ঝরে পড়া জল।

14 House and riches are given by parents: but a prudent wife is properly from the Lord.

১৪বাড়ি ও অর্থ বাবা মায়ের অধিকার; কিন্তু বুদ্ধিমতী স্ত্রী হল সদাপ্রভু থেকে।

15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

১৫অলসতা গভীর ঘুমে নিক্ষেপ করে কিন্তু যে কাজ করতে চায় না সে ক্ষুধার্ত হয়।

16 He that keepeth the commandment, keepeth his own soul: but he that neglecteth his own way, shall die.

১৬যে আদেশ মেনে চলে, সে নিজের প্রাণ রক্ষা করে; যে নিজের পথের বিষয়ে ভাবে না, সে মারা যাবে।

17 He that hath mercy on the poor, lendeth to the Lord: and he will repay him.

১৭যে গরিবকে দয়া করে, সে সদাপ্রভুকে ঋণ দেয় এবং তিনি তাকে পরিশোধ করবেন যা তিনি করেছেন।

18 Chastise thy son, despair not: but to the killing of him set not thy soul.

১৮তোমার সন্তানকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ কর, যেহেতু আশা আছে এবং তোমার হৃদয় তাকে মৃত্যুদন্ড দেবার জন্য দৃঢ়সঙ্কল্প না করুক।

19 He that is impatient, shall suffer damage: and when he shall take away he shall add another thing.

১৯উগ্রস্বভাবের লোক অবশ্যই শাস্তি পাবে; যদি তাকে উদ্ধার কর, তোমাকে দ্বিতীয়বার করতে হবে।

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayst be wise in thy latter end.

২০পরামর্শ শোনো, নির্দেশ গ্রহণ কর, যেন তুমি তোমার জীবনের শেষে জ্ঞানবান হও।

21 There are many thoughts in the heart of a man: but the will of the Lord shall stand firm.

২১মানুষের হৃদয়ে অনেক পরিকল্পনা হয় কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুরই উদ্দেশ্য স্থির থাকবে।

22 A needy man is merciful: and better is the poor than the lying man.

২২মানুষের হৃদয়ে সে যা সিদ্ধান্ত করে তা তার নির্ধারিত সত্য রূপে পরিগণিত হয়, একজন গরিব লোক হওয়া ভাল।

23 The fear of the Lord is unto life: and he shall abide in fulness without being visited with evil.

২৩সদাপ্রভুর ভয় জীবনের দিকে অগ্রসর হয়, যার তা আছে, সে সন্তুষ্ট হয়, সে ক্ষতির দ্বারা নির্যাতিত হয় না।

24 The slothful hideth his hand under his armpit, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth.

২৪অলস থালায় হাত ডুবায় এবং সে আবার মুখে দিতেও চায় না।

25 The wicked man being; scourged, the fool shall be wiser: but if thou rebuke a wise man he will understand discipline.

২৫উপহাসককে প্রহার কর, অশিক্ষিত বুদ্ধিমান হবে; যে উপলব্ধি করে তাকে অনুযোগ কর এবং সে জ্ঞানলাভ করবে।

26 He that afflicteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is infamous and unhappy.

২৬যে তার বাবার প্রতি চুরি করে মাকে তাড়িয়ে দেয়, সে লজ্জাকর ও অপমানজনক সন্তান।

27 Cease not, O my son, to hear instruction, and be not ignorant of the words of knowledge.

২৭হে আমার পুত্র, নির্দেশ শুনতে ক্ষান্ত হলে তুমি জ্ঞানের কথা হইতে বিপথগামী হবে।

28 An unjust witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

২৮যে সাক্ষী অসৎ, সে বিচারের উপহাস করে, দুষ্টদের মুখ অধর্ম্ম গ্রাস করে।

29 Judgments are prepared for scorners: and striking hammers for the bodies of fools.

২৯প্রস্তুত রহিয়াছে উপহাসকদের জন্যে দন্ডাজ্ঞা, মূর্খদের পিঠের জন্যে প্রহার।
