Psalms 9
1 To the chief Musician. Upon Muthlabben. A Psalm of David. I will praise Jehovah with my whole heart; I will recount all thy marvellous works.
Au maître-chantre. — Sur «Meurs pour le fils». — Psaume de David. Je glorifierai l'Éternel de tout mon coeur; Je raconterai toutes ses merveilles.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee; I will sing forth thy name, O Most High.
Je m'égaierai, je me réjouirai en toi; Je chanterai ton nom, ô Dieu Très-Haut!
3 When mine enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished at thy presence:
Car mes ennemis reculent; Ils tombent et périssent devant ta face.
4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause. Thou sittest on the throne, judging righteously.
Oui, tu as soutenu mon droit, tu as défendu ma cause; Tu t'es assis sur ton trône en juste juge.
5 Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
Tu as réprimandé les nations, tu as fait périr les méchants; Tu as effacé leur nom pour toujours, à perpétuité.
6 O enemy! destructions are ended for ever. — Thou hast also destroyed cities, even the remembrance of them hath perished.
Plus d'ennemis. Des ruines éternelles! Tu as détruit leurs villes, Et leur souvenir a péri avec eux.
7 But Jehovah sitteth for ever; he hath ordained his throne for judgment.
L'Éternel règne à jamais; Il a dressé son trône pour le jugement.
8 And it is he that will judge the world with righteousness; he shall execute judgment upon the peoples with equity.
Il jugera le monde avec justice; Il jugera les peuples avec équité.
9 And Jehovah will be a refuge to the oppressed one, a refuge in times of distress.
L'Éternel sera le refuge de l'opprimé, Son refuge au temps de la détresse.
10 And they that know thy name will confide in thee; for thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Ceux qui connaissent ton nom se confieront en toi; Car tu n'abandonnes jamais ceux qui te cherchent, ô Éternel.
11 Sing psalms to Jehovah who dwelleth in Zion; tell among the peoples his doings.
Chantez en l'honneur de l'Éternel qui habite en Sion; Annoncez parmi les peuples ses actions glorieuses!
12 For when he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them; the cry of the afflicted ones hath he not forgotten.
Car il se souvient du sang versé, pour en tirer vengeance; Il n'oublie pas le cri des affligés.
13 Be gracious unto me, O Jehovah; consider mine affliction from them that hate me, lifting me up from the gates of death:
Aie pitié de moi, ô Éternel! Vois la détresse où m'ont réduit mes ennemis, toi qui me fais remonter des portes de la mort,
14 That I may declare all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will be joyful in thy salvation.
Afin que je publie toutes tes louanges Aux portes de la fille de Sion, Et que je me réjouisse du salut que tu m'as accordé.
15 The nations are sunk down in the pit [that] they made; in the net that they hid is their own foot taken.
Les nations sont tombées dans la fosse qu'elles avaient creusées; Leur pied s'est pris au piège qu'elles avaient caché.
16 Jehovah is known [by] the judgment he hath executed: the wicked is ensnared in the work of his own hands. (Higgaion, Selah)
L'Éternel s'est fait connaître, il a manifesté sa justice: Le méchant a été enlacé dans son propre filet. (Jeu d'instruments, Pause)
Les méchants s'en vont au Séjour des morts, Avec toutes les nations qui oublient Dieu. (Sheol h7585)
18 For the needy one shall not be forgotten alway; the hope of the meek shall not perish for ever.
Le malheureux ne sera pas toujours oublié, Et l'espoir des opprimés ne sera pas éternellement trompé.
19 Arise, Jehovah; let not man prevail: let the nations be judged in thy sight.
Lève-toi, ô Éternel! Que l'homme ne triomphe pas. Que les nations soient jugées devant ta face!
20 Put them in fear, Jehovah: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. (Selah)
Éternel, répands sur elles la frayeur: Que les peuples sachent qu'ils ne sont que des hommes! (Pause)
