Nehemiah 11

1 And the princes of the people dwelt in Jerusalem; and the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem, the holy city, and nine parts in the cities.

וישבו שרי העם בירושלם ושאר העם הפילו גורלות להביא אחד מן העשרה לשבת בירושלם עיר הקדש ותשע הידות בערים

2 And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered themselves to dwell in Jerusalem.

ויברכו העם--לכל האנשים המתנדבים לשבת בירושלם

3 And these are the chiefs of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon's servants.

ואלה ראשי המדינה אשר ישבו בירושלם ובערי יהודה ישבו איש באחזתו בעריהם ישראל הכהנים והלוים והנתינים ובני עבדי שלמה

4 And in Jerusalem dwelt some of the children of Judah and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Pherez;

ובירושלם ישבו מבני יהודה ומבני בנימן מבני יהודה עתיה בן עזיה בן זכריה בן אמריה בן שפטיה בן מהללאל--מבני פרץ

5 and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of Shiloni.

ומעשיה בן ברוך בן כל חזה בן חזיה בן עדיה בן יויריב בן זכריה--בן השלני

6 All the children of Pherez that dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight valiant men.

כל בני פרץ הישבים בירושלם--ארבע מאות ששים ושמנה אנשי חיל

7 And these are the children of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Isaiah;

ואלה בני בנימן סלא בן משלם בן יועד בן פדיה בן קוליה בן מעשיה בן איתיאל--בן ישעיה

8 and after him, Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred and twenty-eight:

ואחריו גבי סלי--תשע מאות עשרים ושמנה

9 and Joel the son of Zicri was their overseer, and Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.

ויואל בן זכרי פקיד עליהם ויהודה בן הסנואה על העיר משנה

10 Of the priests: Jedaiah [the son of] Joiarib, Jachin,

מן הכהנים ידעיה בן יויריב יכין

11 Seraiah the son of Hilkijah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God.

שריה בן חלקיה בן משלם בן צדוק בן מריות בן אחיטוב--נגד בית האלהים

12 And their brethren that did the work of the house, eight hundred and twenty-two; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah;

ואחיהם עשה המלאכה לבית--שמנה מאות עשרים ושנים ועדיה בן ירחם בן פלליה בן אמצי בן זכריה בן פשחור בן מלכיה

13 and his brethren, chief fathers, two hundred and forty-two; and Amassai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer;

ואחיו ראשים לאבות מאתים ארבעים ושנים ועמשסי בן עזראל בן אחזי בן משלמות בן אמר

14 and their brethren, mighty men of valour, a hundred and twenty-eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel the son of Gedolim.

ואחיהם גברי חיל מאה עשרים ושמנה ופקיד עליהם זבדיאל בן הגדולים

15 And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

ומן הלוים שמעיה בן חשוב בן עזריקם בן חשביה בן בוני

16 and Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, [who were] over the outward work of the house of God;

ושבתי ויוזבד על המלאכה החיצנה לבית האלהים מראשי הלוים

17 and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, [who was] the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer; and Bakbukiah, the second among his brethren; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun:

ומתניה בן מיכא בן זבדי בן אסף ראש התחלה יהודה לתפלה ובקבקיה משנה מאחיו ועבדא בן שמוע בן גלל בן ידיתון (ידותון)

18 all the Levites in the holy city were two hundred and eighty-four.

כל הלוים בעיר הקדש מאתים שמנים וארבעה

19 And the doorkeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren, that kept watch at the gates, were a hundred and seventy-two.

והשוערים עקוב טלמון ואחיהם השמרים בשערים--מאה שבעים ושנים

20 And the residue of Israel, the priests, [and] the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.

ושאר ישראל הכהנים הלוים בכל ערי יהודה איש בנחלתו

21 And the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel; and Ziha and Gispa were over the Nethinim.

והנתינים ישבים בעפל וציחא וגשפא על הנתינים

22 And the overseer of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, for the work of the house of God.

ופקיד הלוים בירושלם--עזי בן בני בן חשביה בן מתניה בן מיכא מבני אסף המשררים לנגד מלאכת בית האלהים

23 For it was the king's commandment concerning them, and there was a settled portion for the singers, due for each day.

כי מצות המלך עליהם ואמנה על המשררים דבר יום ביומו

24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

ופתחיה בן משיזבאל מבני זרח בן יהודה ליד המלך לכל דבר לעם

25 And as to the hamlets in their fields, [some] of the children of Judah dwelt in Kirjath-Arba and its dependent villages, and in Dibon and its dependent villages, and in Jekabzeel and its dependent villages,

ואל החצרים בשדתם--מבני יהודה ישבו בקרית הארבע ובנתיה ובדיבן ובנתיה וביקבצאל וחצריה

26 and in Jeshua, and in Moladah, and in Beth-phelet,

ובישוע ובמלדה ובבית פלט

27 and in Hazar-Shual, and in Beer-sheba and its dependent villages,

ובחצר שועל ובבאר שבע ובנתיה

28 and in Ziklag, and in Meconah and its dependent villages;

ובצקלג ובמכנה ובבנתיה

29 and in En-Rimmon, and in Zorah, and in Jarmuth,

ובעין רמון ובצרעה ובירמות

30 Zanoah, Adullam, and their hamlets, in Lachish and its fields, in Azekah and its dependent villages: and they encamped from Beer-sheba unto the valley of Hinnom.

זנח עדלם וחצריהם לכיש ושדתיה עזקה ובנתיה ויחנו מבאר שבע עד גיא הנם

31 And the children of Benjamin from Geba [dwelt] in Michmash and Aija and Bethel, and their dependent villages,

ובני בנימן מגבע מכמש ועיה ובית אל ובנתיה

32 in Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,

ענתות נב ענניה

33 Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,

חצור רמה גתים

34 Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,

חדיד צבעים נבלט

35 Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.

לד ואונו גי החרשים

36 And of the Levites there were divisions of Judah [dwelling] in Benjamin.

ומן הלוים--מחלקות יהודה לבנימין
