Numbers 32
1 Now the sons of Ruben and of Gad had many herds, and their substance in cattle was inestimable. And when they had seen that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were suitable for feeding animals,
௧ரூபன், காத் சந்ததிக்கும் ஆடுமாடுகள் மிகவும் திரளாக இருந்தது; அவர்கள் யாசேர் தேசத்தையும் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தையும் பார்த்தபோது, அது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடமென்று கண்டார்கள்.
2 they went to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the multitude, and they said:
௨ஆகையால் ரூபன் சந்ததியும் காத் சந்ததியும் வந்து, மோசேயையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரையும் சபையின் பிரபுக்களையும் நோக்கி:
3 “Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
௩“யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் சபைக்கு முன்பாக முறியடித்த அதரோத், தீபோன், யாசேர், நிம்ரா, எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, சேபாம், நேபோ, பெயோன் என்னும் பட்டணங்களைச் சேர்ந்த நாடானது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடம்.
4 the land, which the Lord has struck in the sight of the sons of Israel, is a very fertile region for pasturing animals. And we, your servants, have very many cattle.
௪உமது அடியார்களுக்கு ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டு.
5 And so we beseech you, if we have found favor before you, that you give it to us, your subjects, as a possession, and that you not cause us cross the Jordan.”
௫“உம்முடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்ததானால், எங்களை யோர்தான் நதிக்கு அப்புறம் கடந்துபோகச்செய்வாராக; இந்த நாட்டை உமது அடியார்களுக்குக் சொந்த நிலமாக கொடுக்கவேண்டும்” என்றார்கள்.
6 And Moses answered them: “Should your brothers go to battle, while you sit here?
௬அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் சந்ததியையும் ரூபன் சந்ததியையும் நோக்கி: “உங்கள் சகோதரர்கள் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகும்போது, நீங்கள் இங்கே இருப்பீர்களோ?
7 Why do you subvert the minds of the sons of Israel, so that they might not dare to cross into the place which the Lord will give to them?
௭யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்கு அவர்கள் போகாதபடி, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகச்செய்கிறது ஏன்?
8 Did not your fathers act in the same way, when I sent them from Kadesh-Barnea to explore the land?
௮அந்த தேசத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு நான் உங்களுடைய தகப்பன்மார்களை காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பினபோது அவர்களும் இப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.
9 And when they had gone all the way to the Valley of the Cluster of Grapes, having viewed the entire region, they subverted the hearts of the sons of Israel, so that they would not enter into the parts that the Lord gave to them.
௯அவர்கள் எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்கு வரை போய், அத்தேசத்தைப் பார்த்து வந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் யெகோவா தங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்குப் போகாதபடி அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகச்செய்தார்கள்.
10 And being angry, the Lord swore an oath, saying:
௧0அதினால் யெகோவா அந்த நாளிலே கோபம் வந்தவராகி:
11 ‘These men, who ascended out of Egypt, from twenty years and above, will not see the land, which I have promised under an oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For they were not willing to follow me,
௧௧உத்தமமாக என்னைப் பின்பற்றின கேனேசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் மகன் காலேபும், நூனின் மகன் யோசுவாவும் தவிர,
12 except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; these have fulfilled my will.’
௧௨எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களில் இருபது வயதுமுதல் அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட மனிதர்களில் ஒருவரும் என்னை உத்தமமாகப் பின்பற்றாதபடியால், அவர்கள் நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும், ஈசாக்குக்கும், யாக்கோபுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்த தேசத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறார்.
13 And the Lord, being angry against Israel, led them in a course through the desert for forty years, until the entire generation, which had done evil in his sight, was consumed.
௧௩அப்படியே யெகோவாவுடைய கோபம் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் வந்தது; யெகோவாவுடைய சமுகத்தில் தீங்குசெய்த அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் அழிந்துபோகும்வரை அவர்களை வனாந்திரத்திலே 40 வருடங்கள் அலையச்செய்தார்.
14 And behold,” he said, “you have risen up in the place of your fathers, the offshoots and the nurslings of sinful men, in order to augment the fury of the Lord against Israel.
௧௪இப்பொழுதும் இதோ இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் மேல் இருக்கும் யெகோவாவுடைய கோபத்தின் கடுமையை இன்னும் அதிகரிக்கச்செய்யும்படி, நீங்கள் உங்களுடைய தகப்பன்களின் இடத்திலே பாவமுள்ள பெருங்கூட்டமாக எழும்பியிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
15 But if you are not willing to follow him, he will leave the people behind in the wilderness, and you will have been the cause of all our deaths.”
௧௫நீங்கள் அவரைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கினால், அவர் இன்னும் அவர்களை வனாந்திரத்தில் இருக்கச்செய்வார்; இப்படி நீங்கள் இந்த மக்களையெல்லாம் அழியச்செய்வீர்கள்” என்றான்.
16 But approaching closer, they said: “We will manufacture sheep pens and cattle stalls, as well as fortified cities, for our little ones.
௧௬அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவன் அருகில் வந்து: “எங்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும், எங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும் இங்கே கட்டுவோம்.
17 But we ourselves will continue on, armed and girded for battle, before the sons of Israel, until we lead them to their places. Our little ones, and whatever we may be able to have, shall be in walled cities, because of the treachery of the inhabitants.
௧௭நாங்களோ இஸ்ரவேலர்களுடைய ராணுவத்தை அவர்கள் இடத்திலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்கும்வரையும், யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாக தீவிரத்தோடு அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடப்போம்; எங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகள் இத்தேசத்து மக்களின் பொருட்டு பாதுகாப்பான பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருக்கக் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.
18 We will not return to our houses, even until the sons of Israel may possess their inheritance.
௧௮இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் எல்லோரும் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும் வரைக்கும், நாங்கள் எங்களுடைய வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்புவதில்லை.
19 Neither will we seek anything across the Jordan, because we already have our possession on its eastern side.”
௧௯யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் கிழக்கே எங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரம் உண்டானபடியினாலே, நாங்கள் அவர்களோடு யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலும், அதற்கு அப்புறத்திலும் சுதந்தரம் வாங்கமாட்டோம்” என்றார்கள்.
20 And Moses said to them: “If you accomplish what you have promised, you may go out, equipped for battle, before the Lord.
௨0அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: “நீங்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படி செய்து, யெகோவாவுடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாகி,
21 And let every fighting man cross over the Jordan, until the Lord overthrows his enemies,
௨௧யெகோவா தம்முடைய எதிரிகளைத் தம்முடைய முகத்திற்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிடும்வரை, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாக யோர்தானைக் கடந்து போவீர்களானால்,
22 and all the land is subjected to him. Then you will be guiltless with the Lord and with Israel, and you will obtain the regions which you desire before the Lord.
௨௨அந்த தேசம் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக கிடைத்தபின்பு, நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்து, யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலர்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும், குற்றமில்லாமல் இருப்பீர்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு இந்த தேசம் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக உங்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாகும்.
23 But if you do not do what you have said, no one could doubt that you will have sinned against God. And know this: your sin shall overtake you.
௨௩நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்யாமல்போனால், யெகோவாவுக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்தவர்களாக இருப்பீர்கள்; உங்கள் பாவம் உங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிக்கும் என்று நிச்சயமாக அறியுங்கள்.
24 Therefore, build cities for your little ones, and pens and stables for your sheep and cattle; and fulfill what you have promised.”
௨௪உங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும், உங்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டி, உங்களுடைய வாய்மொழியின்படியே செய்யுங்கள்” என்றான்.
25 And the sons of Gad and of Ruben said to Moses: “We are your servants, we shall do what you, our ruler, orders.
௨௫அப்பொழுது காத் சந்ததியும் ரூபன் சந்ததியும் மோசேயை நோக்கி: “எங்களுடைய ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிட்டபடி உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் செய்வோம்.
26 We will leave behind our little ones, and our wives, and the sheep and cattle, in the cities of Gilead.
௨௬எங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளும் எங்களுடைய மனைவிகளும், எங்களுடைய ஆடுமாடு முதலான எங்களுடைய எல்லா மிருகஜீவன்களோடும், இங்கே கீலேயாத்தின் பட்டணங்களில் இருப்பார்கள்.
27 And we, your servants, all well-equipped, will go forth to battle, just as you, our ruler, has spoken.”
௨௭உமது ஊழியக்காரர்களாகிய நாங்களோ எங்களுடைய ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடி, ஒவ்வொருவரும் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாக, யெகோவாவுடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவோம்” என்றார்கள்.
28 Therefore, Moses instructed Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the princes of the families throughout the tribes of Israel, and he said to them:
௨௮அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களுக்காக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும், நூனின் மகனாகிய யோசுவாவுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுடைய கோத்திர பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவர்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டு:
29 “If the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben cross over the Jordan with you, all armed for war before the Lord, and if the land becomes subject to you, give them Gilead as a possession.
௨௯“காத் சந்ததியும் ரூபன் சந்ததியும் அவரவர் யெகோவாவுடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாக உங்களோடுகூட யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோனால், அந்த தேசம் உங்களுக்கு கிடைத்தபின்பு, அவர்களுக்குக் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தைச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.
30 But if they are not willing to cross with you, armed, into the land of Canaan, then let them receive places among you for their dwellings.”
௩0உங்களோடுகூட யுத்தவீரர்களாகக் கடந்துபோகாமல் இருந்தார்களேயானால், அவர்கள் உங்கள் நடுவே கானான் தேசத்திலே சுதந்தரம் அடையவேண்டும்” என்றான்.
31 And the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben responded: “Just as the Lord has spoken to his servants, so shall we do.
௩௧காத் சந்ததியும் ரூபன் சந்ததியும் மறுமொழியாக: “உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர்களாகிய நாங்கள் யெகோவா எங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே செய்வோம்.
32 We will go forth, armed, before the Lord into the land of Canaan; and we acknowledge that we have already received our possession across the Jordan.”
௩௨யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலே எங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தின் சொந்தநிலம் எங்களுக்கு உரியதாகும்படி நாங்கள் யெகோவாவுடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாகி கானான் தேசத்திற்குப் போவோம்” என்றார்கள்.
33 And so, Moses gave to the sons of Gad and of Ruben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, and their land with its surrounding cities.
௩௩அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் சந்ததிக்கும், ரூபன் சந்ததிக்கும், யோசேப்பின் மகனாகிய மனாசேயின் பாதிக்கோத்திரத்தாருக்கும், எமோரியருடைய ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனின் ராஜ்ஜியத்தையும், பாசானுடைய ராஜாவாகிய ஓகின் ராஜ்ஜியத்தையும், அவைகளைச் சேர்ந்த தேசங்களையும் அவைகளின் எல்லையைச் சுற்றிலுமுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.
34 Therefore, the sons of Gad built up Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
௩௪பின்பு காத் சந்ததியார் தீபோன், அதரோத் ஆரோவேர்,
35 and Atroth and Shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,
௩௫ஆத்ரோத், சோபான், யாசேர், யொகிபேயா,
36 and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, as fortified cities with pens for their cattle.
௩௬பெத்நிம்ரா, பெத்தாரன் என்னும் பாதுகாப்பான பட்டணங்களையும் ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டினார்கள்.
37 Yet truly, the sons of Ruben built up Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,
௩௭ரூபன் சந்ததியார் எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, கீரியத்தாயீம்,
38 and Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names having been changed) and Sibmah, appointing names for the cities which they had built.
௩௮பெயர்கள் மாற்றப்பட்ட நேபோ, பாகால்மெயோன், சீப்மா என்பவைகளைக் கட்டி, தாங்கள் கட்டின பட்டணங்களுக்கு வேறு பெயர்களைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
39 Moreover, the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, continued on within Gilead, and they devastated it, putting to death its inhabitant, the Amorite.
௩௯மனாசேயின் மகனாகிய மாகீரின் சந்ததி கீலேயாத்திற்குப் போய், அதைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதிலிருந்த எமோரியர்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.
40 Therefore, Moses gave the land of Gilead to Machir, the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it.
௪0அப்பொழுது மோசே கீலேயாத்தை மனாசேயின் மகனாகிய மாகீருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் அதிலே குடியேறினார்கள்.
41 But Jair, the son of Manasseh, went out and occupied its villages, which he called Havoth Jair, that is, the Villages of Jair.
௪௧மனாசேயின் மகனாகிய யாவீர் போய், அவர்களுடைய கிராமங்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவைகளுக்கு யாவீர் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
42 Likewise, Nobah went forth and captured Kenath with its villages. And he called it by his own name, Nobah.
௪௨நோபாக் போய், கேனாத்தையும், அதின் கிராமங்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதற்குத் தன்னுடைய பெயரின்படி நோபாக் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
