Haggai 2
1 And in the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the Lord came, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
Au septième mois le vingt et un du mois, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l'intermédiaire d'Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
2 Speak to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, the governor of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remainder of the people, saying:
Parle donc à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et au reste du peuple, en ces termes:
3 Who is left among you, who saw this house in its first glory? And how do you see it now? Is it not, in comparison to that, as nothing in your eyes?
Quel est parmi vous le survivant qui a vu cette maison dans sa gloire première, et en quel état la voyez-vous maintenant? Ne paraît-elle pas à vos yeux comme rien?
4 And now be strengthened, Zerubbabel, says the Lord. And be strengthened, Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strengthened, all people of the land, says the Lord of hosts. For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts.
Et maintenant, courage Zorobabel! — oracle de Yahweh. Courage, Jésus fils de Josédec, grand prêtre! Courage, tout le peuple du pays, — oracle de Yahweh, — et agissez! Car je suis avec vous, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
5 And act according to the word that I planted with you when you departed from the land of Egypt. And my Spirit will be in your midst. Do not be afraid.
Il y a l'engagement que j'ai pris avec vous, quand vous êtes sortis d'Égypte; et mon Esprit demeure au milieu de vous: ne craignez rien!
6 For thus says the Lord of hosts: There is yet one brief time, and I will move heaven and earth, and the sea and the dry land.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Une fois encore, et ce sera dans peu, j'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, la mer et le continent.
7 And I will move all nations. And the Desired of all nations will arrive. And I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts.
J'ébranlerai toutes les nations, et les trésors de toutes les nations viendront; et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, dit Yahweh des armées.
8 Mine is the silver, and mine is the gold, says the Lord of hosts.
A moi l'argent, à moi l'or, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
9 Great shall be the glory of this house, the last more than the first, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place, I will bestow peace, says the Lord of hosts.
Grande sera la gloire de cette maison; la dernière plus que la première; et en ce lieu je mettrai la paix, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
10 On the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of king Darius, the word of the Lord came to Haggai the prophet, saying:
Le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l'intermédiaire d'Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
11 Thus says the Lord of hosts: the priests question the law, saying:
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Demande aux prêtres une décision en ces termes:
12 If a man will have carried sanctified flesh in the pocket of his garment, and the top of it touches his bread, or appetizer, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be sanctified? But the priests responded by saying, “No.”
Voici qu'un homme porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la viande consacrée; il touche de ce pan du pain, un mets bouilli, du vin, de l'huile, ou tout autre aliment: sera-ce consacré? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent: Non.
13 And Haggai said, “If the polluted in soul will have touched any of all these things, shall it be contaminated?” And the priests responded and said, “It shall be contaminated.”
— Et Aggée dit: si un homme souillé par le contact d'un mort touche à toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent: elles seront souillées.
14 And Haggai answered and he said: Such is this people, and such is this nation before my face, says the Lord, and such is all the work of their hands. And so all that they have offered there has been contaminated.
— Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit: Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, — oracle de Yahweh; telles sont toutes les œuvres de leurs mains: ce qu'ils offrent là est souillé.
15 And now, consider in your hearts, from this day and beyond, before stone may be placed upon stone in the temple of the Lord:
Et maintenant, portez votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière, avant qu'on n'eut encore mis pierre sur pierre, au temple de Yahweh.
16 when you approached a pile of twenty measures, and they became ten, and you entered to the press, to press out fifty bottles, and they became twenty,
Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, il n'y en avait que dix; quand on venait au pressoir pour y puiser cinquante mesures, il n'y en avait que vingt.
17 how I struck you with a burning wind, and a mildew, and a hailstorm, all the works of your hand, yet there was no one among you who returned to me, says the Lord.
Je vous ai frappés par la rouille, la nielle et la grêle, j'ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains; et vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi, — oracle de Yahweh.
18 Set your hearts from this day and into the future, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundations of the temple of the Lord have been uttered, and place it upon your heart.
Portez donc votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière; depuis le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois jusqu'à partir du jour où a été fondé le temple de Yahweh, portez votre attention!
19 Has the seed been germinated yet? And has the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree still not flourished? From this day on, I will bless you.
La semence était-elle encore dans le grenier? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l'olivier n'ont rien produit: mais à partir de ce jour, je bénirai.
20 And the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai, on the twenty-fourth of the month, saying:
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée une seconde fois à Aggée le vingt-quatrième jour du mois en ces termes:
21 Speak to Zerubbabel the governor of Judah, saying: I will move both heaven and earth.
Parle ainsi à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda: J'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre;
22 And I will overturn the throne of kingdoms, and I will crush the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles. And I will overturn the four-horse chariot, and its rider; and the horses and their riders shall be brought down, a man by the sword of his brother.
je renverserai le trône des royaumes, je détruirai la puissance des royaumes des nations; je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; les chevaux avec leurs cavaliers tomberont, par l'épée les uns des autres.
23 In that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, my servant, says the Lord, and will set you like a seal, for I have chosen you, says the Lord of hosts.
En ce jour-là, — oracle de Yahweh des armées, je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, mon serviteur, — oracle de Yahweh, et je ferai de toi comme un cachet; car je t'ai élu, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
