< Deuteronomy 8 >

1 “All the commandments which I am entrusting to you this day, take care to observe them diligently, so that you may live and be multiplied, and so that, upon entering, you may possess the land, about which the Lord swore to your fathers.
Se pou nou swiv pwen pa pwen tout kòmandman m'ap ban nou jòdi a pou nou ka viv, pou nou ka gen anpil pitit, pou nou ka mache pran peyi mwen te fè sèman m'ap bay zansèt nou yo.
2 And you shall remember the entire journey along which the Lord your God led you, for forty years through the desert, to afflict you, and to test you, and to make known the things that were turning in your soul, whether or not you would keep his commandments.
Chonje tout chemen Seyè a, Bondye nou an, te fè nou pran nan dezè a pandan karantan pou l' te ka kraze lògèy nou, pou l' te ka sonde nou, pou l' te ka konnen sa ki nan kè nou, si tout bon vre nou te soti pou kenbe kòmandman l' yo.
3 He afflicted you with need, and he gave you Manna as your food, which neither you nor your fathers knew, so as to reveal to you that it is not by bread alone that man lives, but by every word that goes forth from the mouth of God.
Li kraze lògèy nou, li fè nou soufri grangou. Apre sa, li ba nou laman pou nou manje, yon kalite manje ni nou menm ni zansèt nou yo pa t' janm konnen. Li fè tou sa pou li te fè nou konnen se pa pen ase moun bezwen pou yo viv. Yo bezwen tout pawòl ki soti nan bouch Seyè a tou pou yo viv.
4 Your garment, with which you were covered, has by no means decayed due to age, and your foot has not been worn down, even to this fortieth year,
Pandan tout karantan sa yo, rad sou nou pa janm fini, pye nou yo pa janm fè yon ti anfle.
5 so that you would recognize in your heart that, just as a man educates his son, so has the Lord your God educated you.
Se pou nou manyè konprann koulye a, Seyè a, Bondye nou an, t'ap mete nou sou lòd tankou yon papa k'ap mete pitit li sou lòd.
6 So may you keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and walk in his ways, and fear him.
Se poutèt sa, toujou kenbe tout lòd Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ban nou pou nou ka mennen bak nou dwat nan chemen li mete devan nou yo, lèfini pou nou toujou gen krentif pou li.
7 For the Lord your God will lead you into a good land: a land of brooks and waters and fountains, in which deep rivers burst forth from its plains and mountains,
Men, Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ap mennen nou nan yon bèl peyi, yon peyi kote ki gen anpil rivyè, anpil sous dlo, anpil dlo anba tè k'ap pete nan fon yo ak sou flan mòn yo,
8 a land of crops, barley, and vineyards, in which fig and pomegranate and olive trees spring up, a land of oil and honey.
yon peyi kote ki gen ble, lòj, rezen, pye fig frans, grenad, oliv ak siwo myèl,
9 In that place, without any need, you shall eat your bread and enjoy an abundance of all things: where the stones are like iron, and where ore for brass is dug out of its mountains.
yon peyi kote nou p'ap janm manke manje, kote nou va jwenn tou sa nou vle. Plen fè nan mitan wòch li yo. N'a jwenn kwiv nan mòn li yo.
10 So then, when you have eaten and been satisfied, you should bless the Lord your God for the excellent land which he has given to you.
Men, lè n'a fin manje plen vant nou, n'a fè lwanj Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pou bon peyi li te ban nou an.
11 Be observant and cautious, lest at some time you may forget the Lord your God, and neglect his commandments, as well as the judgments and ceremonies, which I instruct to you this day.
Veye kò nou pou nou pa janm bliye Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pou nou pa janm neglije kòmandman, lòd ak prensip m'ap ban nou jòdi a.
12 Otherwise, after you have eaten and been satisfied, and have built beautiful houses and have lived in them,
Lè n'a fin manje plen vant nou, lè n'a fin bati bèl kay pou nou rete,
13 and have obtained herds of oxen, and flocks of sheep, and a plentitude of gold and silver and all things,
lè n'a wè bèf nou yo, kabrit nou yo ak mouton nou yo ap peple, lè n'a wè n'a gen lò ak ajan an kantite, lè n'a wè tout byen nou yo ap vin pi plis chak jou,
14 your heart might be lifted up, and you might not remember the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude,
pa kite lògèy vire tèt nou pou nou bliye Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ki te fè nou soti kite peyi Lejip kote yo te fè nou tounen esklav la.
15 and who was your leader in the great and terrible wilderness, in which there was the serpent with a burning breath, and the scorpion, and the snake of thirst, and no waters at all. He led streams out of the hardest rock,
Se li menm ki te pran men nou pou fè nou travèse gwo dezè plen danje a, kote ki gen eskòpyon ak sèpan ki gen move pwazon nan bouch yo, kote moun ap mouri swaf dlo paske pa gen dlo la menm. Men, se li menm ki te fè dlo soti nan gwo wòch di a pou nou.
16 and he nourished you in the wilderness with Manna, which your fathers had not known. And after he had afflicted and tested you, in the very end, he took pity on you.
Nan dezè a se li menm ki te ban nou manje laman, yon kalite manje zansèt nou yo pa t' janm konnen. Li kraze lògèy nou, li sonde nou pou nou te ka gen kè kontan pi devan.
17 Otherwise, you might say in your heart: ‘My own strength, and the power of my own hand, have brought forth all these things for me.’
Pa janm mete nan tèt nou se kouraj nou ak fòs ponyèt nou ki fè nou gen tout richès sa yo.
18 But remember the Lord your God, that he himself has provided you with strength, so that he may fulfill his covenant, about which he swore to your fathers, just as the present day reveals.
19 But if you forget the Lord your God, so that you follow foreign gods, and serve and adore them: behold, I now foretell to you that you shall utterly perish.
Si nou rive bliye Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pou n' al kouri dèyè lòt bondye, pou nou fè sèvis pou yo, pou n' adore yo, mwen tou avèti nou jòdi a, nou tout nou gen pou nou disparèt.
20 Just like the nations, which the Lord destroyed upon your arrival, so shall you also perish, if you have been disobedient to the voice of the Lord your God.”
Si nou pa koute sa Seyè a, Bondye nou an, di nou, nou pral disparèt menm jan ak nasyon Bondye pral disparèt devan nou yo.
