2 Kings 5
1 Naaman, the leader of the military of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man with his lord. For through him the Lord gave salvation to Syria. And he was a strong and rich man, but a leper.
௧சீரிய ராஜாவின் படைத்தலைவனாகிய நாகமான் என்பவன் தன் எஜமானிடத்தில் பெரியவனும் மதிக்கத்தக்கவனுமாக இருந்தான்; அவனைக்கொண்டு யெகோவா சீரியாவுக்கு வெற்றியைக் கொடுத்தார்; மிகவும் பலசாலியாகிய அவனோ தொழுநோயாளியாக இருந்தான்.
2 Now robbers had gone out from Syria, and they had led away captive, from the land of Israel, a little girl. And she was in the service of the wife of Naaman.
௨சீரியாவிலிருந்து படைகள் புறப்பட்டு, இஸ்ரவேல் தேசத்திலிருந்து ஒரு சிறுபெண்ணைச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டு வந்திருந்தார்கள்; அவள் நாகமானின் மனைவிக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்துகொண்டிருந்தாள்.
3 And she said to her lady: “I wish that my lord had been with the prophet who is in Samaria. Certainly, he would have cured him of the leprosy that he has.”
௩அவள் தன் எஜமானியைப் பார்த்து: என் எஜமான் சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற தீர்க்கதரிசியினிடத்தில் போவாரானால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; அவர் இவருடைய தொழுநோயை நீக்கிவிடுவார் என்றாள்.
4 And so, Naaman entered to his lord, and he reported to him, saying: “The girl from the land of Israel spoke in such a manner.”
௪அப்பொழுது நாகமான் போய், இஸ்ரவேல் தேசத்துப் பெண் சொன்ன காரியங்களைத் தன் எஜமானிடத்தில் அறிவித்தான்.
5 And the king of Syria said to him, “Go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” And when he had set out, he had taken with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand gold coins, and ten changes of fine clothing.
௫அப்பொழுது சீரியாவின் ராஜா: நல்லது போகலாம், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிற்கு கடிதம் தருகிறேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் தன் கையிலே பத்துத்தாலந்து வெள்ளியையும், ஆறாயிரம் சேக்கல் எடையுள்ள பொன்னையும், பத்து மாற்றுஉடைகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய்,
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, in these words: “When you will receive this letter, know that I have sent to you my servant, Naaman, so that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
௬இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிடத்தில் அந்தக் கடிதத்தைக் கொடுத்தான். அதிலே: இந்தக் கடிதத்தை உம்மிடத்தில் என் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய நாகமான் கொண்டுவருவான்; நீர் அவனுடைய தொழுநோயை நீக்கிவிட அவனை உம்மிடத்தில் அனுப்பியிருக்கிறேன் என்று எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது.
7 And when the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his garments, and he said: “Am I God, so that I could take or give life, or so that this man would send to me to cure a man from his leprosy? Take notice and see that he is seeking occasions against me.”
௭இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அந்த கடிதத்தை வாசித்தபோது, அவன் தன் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: ஒரு மனிதனை தொழுநோயிலிருந்து சுகப்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்று, அவன் என்னிடத்தில் கடிதம் அனுப்புகிறதற்கு, கொல்லவும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கவும் நான் தேவனா? இவன் என்னை விரோதிக்க வாய்ப்பைத் தேடுகிறான் என்பதைச் சிந்தித்துப்பாருங்கள் என்றான்.
8 And when Elisha, the man of God, had heard this, specifically, that the king of Israel had torn his garments, he sent to him, saying: “Why have you torn your garments? Let him come to me, and let him know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
௮இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தன் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்ட செய்தியை தேவனுடைய மனிதனாகிய எலிசா கேட்டபோது, அவன்: நீர் உம்முடைய உடைகளை ஏன் கிழித்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்? அவன் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலே தீர்க்கதரிசி உண்டென்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ளட்டும் என்று ராஜாவிற்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.
9 Therefore, Naaman arrived with his horses and chariots, and he stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
௯அப்படியே நாகமான் தன் குதிரைகளோடும் தன் இரதத்தோடும் வந்து எலிசாவின் வாசற்படியிலே நின்றான்.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go, and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will receive health, and you will be clean.”
௧0அப்பொழுது எலிசா: அவனிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, நீ போய், யோர்தானில் ஏழுமுறை மூழ்கி எழு; அப்பொழுது உன் சரீரம் புதிதாகி, நீ சுத்தமாவாய் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.
11 And becoming angry, Naaman went away, saying: “I thought that he would have come out to me, and, standing, would have invoked the name of the Lord, his God, and that he would have touched the place of the leprosy with his hand, and so have healed me.
௧௧அதற்கு நாகமான் கடுங்கோபம்கொண்டு, புறப்பட்டுப்போய்: அவன் வெளியே வந்து, தன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்தைத் தொழுது, தன் கையினால் அந்த இடத்தைத் தடவி தொழுநோயை நீக்கிவிடுவான் என்று எனக்குள் நினைத்திருந்தேன்.
12 Are not the Abana and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel, so that I might wash in them and be cleansed?” But then, after he had turned himself away and was leaving with indignation,
௧௨நான் மூழ்கிச் சுத்தமாகிறதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் தண்ணீர்கள் எல்லாவற்றைப்பார்க்கிலும் தமஸ்குவின் நதிகளாகிய ஆப்னாவும் பர்பாரும் நல்லதல்லவோ என்று சொல்லி, கோபத்தோடே திரும்பிப்போனான்.
13 his servants approached him, and they said to him: “If the prophet had told you, father, to do something great, certainly you ought to have done it. How much more so, now that he has said to you: ‘Wash, and you will be clean?’”
௧௩அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் அருகில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: தகப்பனே, அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒரு பெரிய காரியத்தைச் செய்யச் சொல்லியிருந்தால் அதை நீர் செய்வீர் அல்லவா? மூழ்கி எழும், அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாவீர் என்று அவர் உம்மோடே சொல்லும்போது, அதைச் செய்யவேண்டியது எத்தனை அதிகம் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
14 So he descended and washed in the Jordan seven times, in accord with the word of the man of God. And his flesh was restored, like the flesh of a little child. And he was made clean.
௧௪அப்பொழுது அவன் இறங்கி, தேவனுடைய மனிதனின் வார்த்தையின்படியே யோர்தானில் ஏழுமுறை முழுகினபோது, அவனுடைய சரீரம் ஒரு சிறுபிள்ளையின் சரீரத்தைப்போல புதிதாகி, அவன் சுத்தமானான்.
15 And returning to the man of God, with his entire retinue, he arrived, and stood before him, and he said: “Truly, I know there is no other God, in all the earth, except in Israel. And so I beg you to accept a blessing from your servant.”
௧௫அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் கூட்டத்தோடு தேவனுடைய மனிதனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று: இதோ, இஸ்ரவேலிலிருக்கிற தேவனைத்தவிர பூமியெங்கும் வேறே தேவன் இல்லை என்பதை அறிந்தேன்; இப்போதும் உமது அடியேனுடைய கையிலிருந்து ஒரு காணிக்கை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றான்.
16 But he responded, “As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I will not accept it.” And though he urged him strongly, he did not agree at all.
௧௬அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வாங்குகிறதில்லை என்று யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக அவருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்; வாங்கவேண்டும் என்று அவனை வற்புறுத்தியும் மறுத்துவிட்டான்.
17 And Naaman said: “As you wish. But I beg you to grant to me, your servant, that I may take from here the burden of two mules from the ground. For your servant will no longer offer holocaust or victim to other gods, except to the Lord.
௧௭அப்பொழுது நாகமான்: ஆனாலும் இரண்டு கோவேறு கழுதைகள் சுமக்கத்தக்க இரண்டு பொதி மண் உமது அடியேனுக்குக் கட்டளையிடவேண்டும்; உமது அடியேன் இனிக் கர்த்தருக்கே அல்லாமல், அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குச் சர்வாங்க தகனத்தையும் பலியையும் செலுத்துவதில்லை.
18 But there is still this matter, for which you will entreat the Lord on behalf of your servant: when my lord enters the temple of Rimmon, so that he may adore there, and he leans on my hand, if I will bow down in the temple of Rimmon, while he is adoring in the same place, that the Lord may ignore me, your servant, concerning this matter.”
௧௮ஒரு காரியத்தையே யெகோவா உமது அடியேனுக்கு மன்னிப்பாராக; என் எஜமான் பணிந்துகொள்ள ரிம்மோன் கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும்போது, நான் அவருக்கு உதவி செய்து ரிம்மோன் கோவிலிலே பணியவேண்டியதாயிருக்கும்; இப்படி ரிம்மோன் கோவிலில் நான் பணியவேண்டிய இந்தக் காரியத்தைக் யெகோவா உமது அடியேனுக்கு மன்னிப்பாராக என்றான்.
19 And he said to him, “Go in peace.” Then he went away from him, in the elect time of the earth.
௧௯அதற்கு அவன்: சமாதானத்தோடே போ என்றான்; இவன் புறப்பட்டுக் கொஞ்சதூரம் போனபோது.
20 And Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, said: “My lord has spared Naaman, this Syrian, by not receiving from him what he brought. As the Lord lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”
௨0தேவனுடைய மனிதனாகிய எலிசாவின் வேலைக்காரன் கேயாசி என்பவன், அந்தச் சீரியனாகிய நாகமான் கொண்டுவந்ததை என் எஜமான் அவனுடைய கையிலிருந்து வாங்காமல் அவனை விட்டுவிட்டார்; நான் அவன் பின்னே ஓடி, அவனுடைய கையிலிருந்து ஏதாகிலும் வாங்குவேன் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவன்மேல் ஆணையிட்டு,
21 And so, Gehazi followed after the back of Naaman. And when he had seen him running toward him, he leaped down from his chariot to meet him, and he said, “Is all well?”
௨௧நாகமானைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தான்; அவன் தன் பிறகே ஓடிவருகிறதை நாகமான் கண்டபோது, அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோக இரதத்திலிருந்து குதித்து: சுகசெய்தியா என்று கேட்டான்.
22 And he said: “It is well. My lord has sent me to you, saying: ‘Just now two youths from the sons of the prophets have come to me from mount Ephraim. Give them a talent of silver, and two changes of clothing.’”
௨௨அதற்கு அவன்: சுகசெய்திதான்; தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கூட்டத்தாரில் இரண்டு வாலிபர்கள் இப்பொழுதுதான் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்திலிருந்து என்னிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு தாலந்து வெள்ளியையும், இரண்டு மாற்றுஉடைகளையும் தரவேண்டும் என்று கேட்க, என் எஜமான் என்னை அனுப்பினார் என்றான்.
23 And Naaman said, “It is better that you accept two talents.” And he urged him, and he bound the two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing. And he set them upon two of his servants, who carried them before him.
௨௩அதற்கு நாகமான்: தயவுசெய்து, இரண்டு தாலந்தை வாங்கிக்கொள் என்று சொல்லி, அவனை வற்புறுத்தி, இரண்டு தாலந்து வெள்ளியை இரண்டு பைகளில் இரண்டு மாற்றுஉடைகளோடே கட்டி, அவனுக்கு முன்பாகச் சுமந்துபோக, தன் வேலைக்காரர்களான இரண்டுபேர்மேல் வைத்தான்.
24 And when now he had arrived in the evening, he took them from their hands, and he stored them in the house. And he dismissed the men, and they went away.
௨௪அவன் மேடான இடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, அவன் அதை அவர்கள் கையிலிருந்து வாங்கி, வீட்டிலே வைத்து, அந்த மனிதர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவர்கள் போய்விட்டார்கள்.
25 Then, having entered, he stood before his lord. And Elisha said, “Where are you coming from, Gehazi?” He responded, “Your servant did not go anywhere.”
௨௫பின்பு அவன் உள்ளேபோய்த் தன் எஜமானுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றான்; கேயாசியே, எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தாய் என்று எலிசா அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு, அவன்: உமது அடியான் எங்கும் போகவில்லை என்றான்.
26 But he said: “Was my heart not present, when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? And now you have received money, and you have received garments, so that you might buy olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and men and women servants.
௨௬அப்பொழுது அவன் இவனைப்பார்த்து: அந்த மனிதன் உனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவரத் தன் இரதத்திலிருந்து இறங்கித் திரும்புகிறபோது என் மனம் உன்னுடன்கூடச் செல்லவில்லையா? பணத்தை வாங்குகிறதற்கும், உடைகளையும் ஒலிவத்தோப்புகளையும் திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களையும் ஆடுமாடுகளையும் வேலைக்காரர்களையும் வேலைக்காரிகளையும் வாங்குகிறதற்கும் இது காலமா?
27 So then, the leprosy of Naaman shall adhere to you, and to your offspring forever.” And he departed from him a leper, as white as snow.
௨௭ஆகையால் நாகமானின் தொழுநோய் உன்னையும் உன் சந்ததியாரையும் என்றைக்கும் பிடித்திருக்கும் என்றான்; உடனே அவன் உறைந்த மழையின் நிறமான தொழுநோயாளியாகி, அவனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.
