1 Samuel 20
1 Then David fled from Naioth, which is in Ramah, and he went and said before Jonathan: “What have I done? What is my iniquity, or what is my sin, against your father, so that he would seek my life?”
௧தாவீது ராமாவிலிருந்த நாயோதிலிருந்து ஓடிப்போய், யோனத்தான் முன்பாக வந்து: உம்முடைய தகப்பன் என்னுடைய ஜீவனை வாங்கத் தேடுகிறாரே, நான் செய்தது என்ன? என்னுடைய அக்கிரமம் என்ன? நான் அவருக்குச் செய்த துரோகம் என்ன? என்றான்.
2 And he said to him: “May this not be! You shall not die. For my father will not do anything, great or small, without first revealing it to me. Therefore, has my father concealed this word solely from me? By no means shall this be!”
௨அதற்கு அவன்: அப்படி ஒருபோதும் வராது; நீர் சாவதில்லை, இதோ, எனக்கு அறிவிக்காமல் என்னுடைய தகப்பன் பெரிய காரியமானாலும், சிறிய காரியமானாலும் ஒன்றும் செய்வதில்லை; இந்தக் காரியத்தை என்னுடைய தகப்பன் எனக்கு மறைப்பானேன்? அப்படி இருக்காது என்றான்.
3 And he swore again to David. And David said: “Your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your sight, and so he will say, ‘Let Jonathan not know this, lest he be saddened.’ So truly, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, there is only one step (if I may say it) separating me from death.”
௩அப்பொழுது தாவீது: உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைத்தது என்று உம்முடைய தகப்பன் நன்றாக அறிவார்; ஆகையால் யோனத்தானுக்கு மனவருத்தம் உண்டாகாதபடி அவன் இதை அறியக்கூடாது என்பார்; மரணத்திற்கும் எனக்கும் ஒரு அடி தூரம் மாத்திரம் இருக்கிறது என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு நிச்சயமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று பதில் சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டான்.
4 And Jonathan said to David, “Whatever your soul will tell me, I will do for you.”
௪அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: உமது மனவிருப்பம் என்ன என்று சொல்லும், அதின்படி உமக்குச் செய்வேன் என்றான்.
5 Then David said to Jonathan: “Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I am accustomed to sit in a seat beside the king to eat. Therefore, permit me that I may be hidden in the field, until the evening of the third day.
௫தாவீது யோனத்தானை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாளைக்கு அமாவாசை, நான் ராஜாவோடு பந்தியில் சாப்பிடவேண்டியதாயிருக்கும்; ஆனாலும் நான் மூன்றாம் நாள் சாயங்காலம் வரை வெளியிலே ஒளிந்திருக்கும்படி எனக்கு உத்திரவு கொடும்.
6 If your father, looking around, will seek me, you shall respond to him: ‘David asked me if he may hurry to Bethlehem, his own city. For there are solemn sacrifices in that place for all of his tribe together.’
௬உம்முடைய தகப்பன் என்னைக்குறித்து விசாரித்தால், தன்னுடைய ஊராகிய பெத்லெகேமிலே தன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தினர் எல்லோரும் வருடத்திற்கு ஒருமுறை பலியிட வருகிறபடியால் தாவீது அந்த இடத்திற்குப் போக என்னிடத்தில் வருந்திக் கேட்டான் என்று நீர் சொல்லும்.
7 If he will say, ‘It is well,’ then your servant will have peace. But if he will be angry, know that his malice has reached its height.
௭அதற்கு அவர் நல்லது என்றால், உம்முடைய அடியானுக்குச் சமாதானம் இருக்கும்; அவருக்கு எரிச்சலுண்டானால், அவராலே தீமை உறுதிப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள்.
8 Therefore, show mercy to your servant. For you have brought me, your servant, into a covenant of the Lord with you. But if there is any iniquity in me, you may kill me, and you shall not lead me in to your father.”
௮ஆகவே, உம்முடைய அடியானுக்குத் தயை செய்யவேண்டும்; யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக உம்முடைய அடியானோடே உடன்படிக்கை செய்திருக்கிறீரே; என்னில் ஒரு அக்கிரமம் இருந்தால், நீரே என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடும்; நீர் என்னை உம்முடைய தகப்பனிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டு போகவேண்டியது என்ன என்றான்.
9 And Jonathan said: “May this be far from you. For certainly, if I ever realized that any wickedness was determined by my father against you, I would not be able to do anything other than report it to you.”
௯அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: அப்படி உமக்கு வராதிருப்பதாக; உமக்கு தீமை செய்ய என் தகப்பனாலே உறுதிப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று நான் நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்தால் நான் அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்காதிருப்பேனா என்றான்.
10 And David responded to Jonathan, “Who will repeat it to me, if your father may perhaps answer you harshly about me?”
௧0தாவீது யோனத்தானை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தகப்பன் கடினமான பதில் சொன்னால் அதை யார் எனக்கு அறிவிப்பார் என்றான்.
11 And Jonathan said to David, “Come, and let us go out into the field.” And when they both had gone out into the field,
௧௧அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: ஊருக்கு வெளியே போவோம் வாரும் என்றான்; இருவரும் வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.
12 Jonathan said before David: “O Lord, God of Israel, if I will discover a decision by my father, tomorrow, or the day after, and if there will be anything good concerning David, and yet I do not immediately send to you and make it known to you,
௧௨அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவை முன்னிட்டு தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: நான் நாளையோ மறுநாளிலோ என்னுடைய தகப்பனுடைய மனதை அறிந்துகொண்டு, அவர் தாவீதின்மேல் தயவாக இருக்கிறார் என்று கண்டும், அதை அப்போது உமது செவிகளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தும்படி, உமக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பாமலிருந்தால்,
13 may the Lord do these things to Jonathan, and may he add these other things. But if my father will have persevered in malice against you, I will reveal it to your ear, and I will send you away, so that you may go in peace, and so that the Lord may be with you, just as he was with my father.
௧௩இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா யோனத்தானுக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்யட்டும்; ஆனாலும் உமக்குத் தீங்குசெய்ய என்னுடைய தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமாக இருந்தால், அதை உமது செவிகளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தி, நீர் சமாதானத்தோடு போகும்படி உம்மை அனுப்பிவிடுவேன்; யெகோவா என்னுடைய தகப்பனோடு இருந்ததுபோல், உம்மோடும் இருப்பாராக.
14 And if I live, you shall show the mercy of the Lord to me. Yet truly, if I die,
௧௪மேலும், நான் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போது, நான் சாகாதபடி நீர் யெகோவாவின் நிமித்தமாக எனக்குத் தயை செய்யவேண்டியதும் அன்றி,
15 you shall not take away your mercy from my house, even forever, when the Lord will have rooted out the enemies of David, each and every one of them, from the earth. May he take Jonathan from his house, and may the Lord require it from the hands of the enemies of David.”
௧௫யெகோவா தாவீதின் எதிரிகள் ஒருவரையும் பூமியின்மேல் இல்லாதபடி, வேர் அறுக்கும்போதும், நீர் என்றென்றைக்கும் உமது தயவை என்னுடைய வீட்டைவிட்டு அகற்றிவிடாமலும் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.
16 Therefore, Jonathan formed a covenant with the house of David. And the Lord required it from the hands of the enemies of David.
௧௬இப்படி யோனத்தான் தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து, தாவீதுடைய எதிரிகளின் கையிலே யெகோவா கணக்குக் கேட்பாராக என்று சொல்லி,
17 And Jonathan continued to swear to David, because he loved him. For he loved him like his own soul.
௧௭யோனத்தான் தாவீதை மிகவும் நேசித்தபடியால், பின்னும் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டான்; தன்னுடைய உயிரை நேசித்ததுபோல அவனை நேசித்தான்.
18 And Jonathan said to him: “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be sought.
௧௮பின்பு யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: நாளைக்கு அமாவாசை, நீர் உட்காரவேண்டிய இடம் காலியாக இருப்பதால் உம்மைக்குறித்து விசாரிக்கப்படும்.
19 For your seat will be empty until the day after tomorrow. Therefore, you shall descend quickly, and you shall go to the place where you are to be hidden, on a day when it is lawful to work, and you shall remain beside the stone that is called Ezel.
௧௯காரியம் நடந்தபோது, மூன்றாம் நாளிலே நீர் ஒளிந்திருக்கும் இடத்திற்கு விரைவாக வந்து, ஏசேல் என்னும் கல்லின் அருகில் உட்கார்ந்திரும்.
20 And I will shoot three arrows near it, and I will cast them as if I were practicing for myself toward a mark.
௨0அப்பொழுது நான் குறிப்பு வைத்து எய்கிறதுபோல, அதற்குப் பக்கமாக மூன்று அம்புகளை எய்து:
21 Also, I will send a boy, saying to him, ‘Go and bring the arrows to me.’
௨௧நீ போய், அந்த அம்புகளைத் தேடி வா என்று ஒரு சிறுவனை அனுப்புவேன்; இதோ, அம்புகள் உனக்கு இப்புறத்திலே கிடக்கிறது, அவைகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சிறுவனிடத்தில் நான் சொன்னால், நீர் வாரும்; அப்பொழுது ஒன்றும் இல்லை, உமக்குச் சமாதானம் இருக்கும் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்.
22 If I will say to the boy, ‘Behold, the arrows are before you, take them up,’ you shall approach before me, because there is peace for you, and there is nothing evil, as the Lord lives. But if I will have spoken to the boy in this way, ‘Behold, the arrows are away from you,’ then you shall go away in peace, for the Lord has released you.
௨௨இதோ, அம்புகள் உனக்கு அப்புறத்திலே கிடக்கிறது என்று நான் அந்த சிறுவனிடத்தில் சொன்னால், நீர் போய்விடும்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா உம்மைப் போகச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்று அறிந்துகொள்.
23 Now about the word that you and I have spoken, may the Lord be between you and me, even forever.”
௨௩நீரும் நானும் பேசிக்கொண்ட காரியத்திற்கு, இதோ, யெகோவா எனக்கும் உமக்கும் என்றைக்கும் நடுநிற்கும் சாட்சி என்றான்.
24 Therefore, David was hidden in the field. And the new moon came, and the king sat down to eat bread.
௨௪அப்படியே தாவீது வெளியிலே ஒளிந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்; அமாவாசையானபோது ராஜா சாப்பிட உட்கார்ந்தான்.
25 And when the king had sat down on his chair, (according to custom) which was beside the wall, Jonathan rose up, and Abner sat beside Saul, and David’s place appeared empty.
௨௫ராஜா சுவரின் அருகிலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய இடத்தில் எப்போதும்போல் உட்கார்ந்தபோது, யோனத்தான் எழுந்தான்; அப்னேரோ சவுலுடைய பக்கத்தில் உட்கார்ந்தான்; தாவீது இருக்கும் இடம் காலியாக இருந்தது.
26 And Saul did not say anything on that day. For he was thinking that perhaps something happened to him, so that he was not clean, or not purified.
௨௬ஆனாலும் அவன் தீட்டாயிருக்கிறானா, அவன் தீட்டுப்பட்டுத்தான் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று அன்றையதினம் சவுல் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை.
27 And when the second day after the new moon had begun to dawn, David’s place again appeared empty. And Saul said to Jonathan, his son, “Why has the son of Jesse not arrived to eat, neither yesterday, nor today?”
௨௭அமாவாசைக்கு மறுநாளிலும் தாவீது இருக்கும் இடம் காலியாக இருந்தது; அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஈசாயின் மகன் நேற்றும் இன்றும் சாப்பாட்டிற்கு வராமல்போனது என்ன என்று தன்னுடைய மகனான யோனத்தானைக் கேட்டான்.
28 And Jonathan responded to Saul, “He petitioned me earnestly that he might go to Bethlehem,
௨௮யோனத்தான் சவுலுக்குப் பதிலாக: பெத்லெகேம்வரை போக, தாவீது என்னிடத்தில் வருந்திக்கேட்டு,
29 and he said: ‘Permit me. For there is a solemn sacrifice in the city. One of my brothers has summoned me. Now therefore, if I have found favor in your eyes, I will go quickly, and I will see my brothers.’ For this reason, he has not come to the table of the king.”
௨௯அங்கே நான் போகவேண்டும்; எங்கள் குடும்பத்தார் ஊரிலே பலியிடப் போகிறார்கள்; என்னுடைய சகோதரர்களில் ஒருவன் என்னை வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார்; உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைத்ததானால், நான் என் சகோதரர்களைப் பார்க்கிறதற்குப் போக எனக்கு உத்திரவு கொடும் என்றான்; இதனாலேதான் அவன் ராஜாவின் பந்திக்கு வரவில்லை என்றான்.
30 Then Saul, becoming angry against Jonathan, said to him: “You son of a woman wantonly seizing a man! Could I be ignorant that you love the son of Jesse, to your own shame, and to the shame of your disgraceful mother?
௩0அப்பொழுது சவுல் யோனத்தான்மேல் கோபப்பட்டு, அவனைப் பார்த்து: கலகமும் முரட்டாட்டமும் உள்ளவளின் மகனே, நீ உனக்கு வெட்கமாகவும், உன் தாயின் மானத்திற்கு வெட்கமாகவும், ஈசாயின் மகனைத் தோழனாகத் தெரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறதை நான் அறியேனோ?
31 For all the days that the son of Jesse moves upon earth, neither you, nor your kingdom, will be secure. And so, send and bring him to me, here and now. For he is a son of death.”
௩௧ஈசாயின் மகன் பூமியின்மேல் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாள்வரையும் நீயானாலும், உன் அரசாட்சியானாலும் நிலைப்பதில்லை; இப்போதே அவனை அழைத்து, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா; அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான்.
32 Then Jonathan, answering his father Saul, said: “Why should he die? What has he done?”
௩௨யோனத்தான் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய சவுலுக்குப் பதிலாக; அவன் ஏன் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும்? அவன் என்ன செய்தான் என்றான்.
33 And Saul picked up a lance, so that he might strike him. And Jonathan understood that it had been decided by his father that David be put to death.
௩௩அப்பொழுது சவுல்: அவனைக் குத்திப்போட அவன்மேல் ஈட்டியை எறிந்தான்; ஆகையால் தாவீதைக் கொன்றுபோடத் தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறான் என்பதை யோனத்தான் அறிந்துகொண்டு,
34 Therefore, Jonathan rose up from the table in a rage of anger. And he did not eat bread on the second day after the new moon. For he was saddened over David, because his father had confounded him.
௩௪கோபத்தோடு பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்துபோய், அமாவாசையின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்றையதினம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தான்; தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தாவீதை நிந்தித்துச் சொன்னது அவனுக்கு மனவருத்தமாக இருந்தது.
35 And when the morning had begun to dawn, Jonathan went into the field according to the agreement with David, and a young boy was with him.
௩௫மறுநாள் காலமே, யோனத்தான் தாவீதுக்குக் குறித்த நேரத்திலே ஒரு சிறுவனைகூட்டிக்கொண்டு, வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போய்:
36 And he said to his boy, “Go, and bring to me the arrows that I shoot.” And when the boy had run, he shot another arrow away from the boy.
௩௬சிறுவனை பார்த்து: நீ ஓடி, நான் எய்கிற அம்புகளைத் தேடி எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சொல்லி, அந்தப் சிறுவன் ஓடும்போது, அவனுக்கு அப்பால் போகும்படி ஒரு அம்பை எய்தான்.
37 And so, the boy went to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot. And Jonathan cried out, from behind the back of boy, and said: “Behold, the arrow is there, farther away from you.”
௩௭யோனத்தான் எய்த அம்பு இருக்கும் இடம்வரை சிறுவன் போனபோது, அம்பு உனக்கு இன்னும் அப்பால் இருக்கிறது அல்லவா என்று யோனத்தான் சிறுவனுக்கு பின்னால் இருந்து கூப்பிட்டான்.
38 And Jonathan cried out again, from behind the back of the boy, saying, “Go quickly! Do not stand still!” Then Jonathan’s boy collected the arrows, and he brought them to his lord.
௩௮நீ நிற்காமல் விரைவாக சீக்கிரமாகப் போ என்றும் யோனத்தான் சிறுவனுக்குப் பின்னால் இருந்து கூப்பிட்டான்; அப்படியே யோனத்தானின் சிறுவன் அம்புகளைப் பொறுக்கி, தன்னுடைய எஜமானிடத்தில் கொண்டு வந்தான்.
39 And he did not understand at all what was happening. For only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
௩௯அந்தக் காரியம் யோனத்தானுக்கும் தாவீதுக்கும் தெரிந்திருந்ததேயல்லாமல், அந்த சிறுவனுக்கு ஒன்றும் தெரியாதிருந்தது.
40 Then Jonathan gave his weapons to the boy, and he said to him, “Go, and carry them into the city.”
௪0அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: தன்னுடைய ஆயுதங்களை சிறுவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, இவைகளைப் கிபியா பட்டணத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோ என்றான்.
41 And when the boy had gone away, David rose up from his place, which turned toward the south, and falling prone on the ground, he reverenced three times. And kissing one another, they wept together, but David more so.
௪௧சிறுவன் போனபின்பு, தாவீது தென்புறமான இடத்திலிருந்து எழுந்து வந்து, தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, மூன்று முறை வணங்கினான்; அவர்கள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் முத்தம்செய்து அழுதார்கள்; தாவீது மிகவும் அழுதான்.
42 Then Jonathan said to David: “Go in peace. And let us both keep all that we have ever sworn in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘May the Lord be between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, even forever.’” And David rose up and went away. But Jonathan entered into the city.
௪௨அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடே போம், யெகோவா என்றைக்கும் எனக்கும் உமக்கும், என்னுடைய சந்ததிக்கும் உமது சந்ததிக்கும், நடுநிற்கும் சாட்சி என்று சொல்லி, யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்தைக்கொண்டு நாம் இருவரும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டதை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும் என்றான். பின்பு அவன் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; யோனத்தானோ பட்டணத்திற்குப் போய்விட்டான்.
