1 Samuel 16
1 And the Lord said to Samuel: “How long will you mourn for Saul, though I have rejected him, so that he would not reign over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and approach, so that I may send you to Jesse of Bethlehem. For I have provided a king from among his sons for myself.”
௧யெகோவா சாமுவேலைப் பார்த்து: இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக இல்லாதபடிக்கு, நான் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளின சவுலுக்காக நீ எதுவரை துக்கப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருப்பாய்; நீ உன் கொம்பை தைலத்தால் நிரப்பிக்கொண்டுவா; பெத்லெகேமியனாகிய ஈசாயினிடத்திற்கு உன்னை அனுப்புவேன்; அவனுடைய மகன்களில் ஒருவனை நான் ராஜாவாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.
2 And Samuel said: “How shall I go? For Saul will hear of it, and he will put me to death.” And the Lord said: “You shall take, by your hand, a calf from the herd. And you shall say, ‘I have arrived in order to immolate to the Lord.’
௨அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்; சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால், என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவானே என்றான்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: நீ ஒரு காளையைக் கையோடே கொண்டுபோய், யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி,
3 And you shall call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will reveal to you what you should do. And you shall anoint whomever I will indicate to you.”
௩ஈசாயைப் பலிவிருந்திற்கு அழைப்பாயாக; அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை நான் உனக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; நான் உனக்குச் சொல்கிறவனை எனக்காக அபிஷேகம்செய்வாயாக என்றார்.
4 Therefore, Samuel did just as the Lord told him. And he went to Bethlehem, and the elders of the city wondered. And meeting him, they said, “Is your arrival peaceful?”
௪யெகோவா சொன்னபடியே சாமுவேல் செய்து, பெத்லெகேமுக்குப் போனான்; அப்பொழுது அந்த ஊரின் மூப்பர்கள் நடுக்கத்தோடு அவனுக்கு எதிராக வந்து, நீர் வருகிறது சமாதானமா என்றார்கள்.
5 And he said: “It is peaceful. I have arrived in order to immolate to the Lord. Be sanctified, and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and he called them to the sacrifice.
௫அதற்கு அவன்: சமாதானம் தான்; யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன்; நீங்கள் உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தம் செய்துகொண்டு, என்னோடு பலிவிருந்திற்கு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; மேலும் ஈசாயையும் அவனுடைய மகன்களையும் பரிசுத்தம்செய்து, அவர்களைப் பலிவிருந்திற்கு அழைத்தான்.
6 And when they had entered, he saw Eliab, and he said, “Could he be the Christ in the sight of the Lord?”
௬அவர்கள் வந்தபோது, அவன் எலியாபைப் பார்த்தவுடனே: யெகோவாவால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்படுபவன் இவன்தானோ என்றான்.
7 And the Lord said to Samuel: “You should not look with favor on his face, nor on the height of his stature. For I have rejected him. Neither do I judge by the appearance of a man. For man sees those things that are apparent, but the Lord beholds the heart.”
௭யெகோவா சாமுவேலை பார்த்து: நீ இவனுடைய முகத்தையும், இவனுடைய சரீர வளர்ச்சியையும் பார்க்கவேண்டாம்; நான் இவனைப் புறக்கணித்தேன்; மனிதன் பார்க்கிறபடி நான் பார்க்கமாட்டேன்; மனிதன் முகத்தைப் பார்ப்பான்; யெகோவாவோ இருதயத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார் என்றார்.
8 And Jesse called Abinadab, and he brought him before Samuel. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.”
௮அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அபினதாபை அழைத்து, அவனைச் சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகச்செய்தான்; அவன்: இவனையும் யெகோவா தெரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.
9 Then Jesse brought Shammah. And he said about him, “And the Lord has not chosen this one.”
௯ஈசாய் சம்மாவையும் கடந்துபோகச்செய்தான்; அவன்: இவனையும் யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.
10 And so Jesse brought his seven sons before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.”
௧0இப்படி ஈசாய் தன்னுடைய மகன்களில் ஏழு பேரை சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகச்செய்தான்; பின்பு சாமுவேல் ஈசாயைப் பார்த்து: யெகோவா இவர்களில் ஒருவனையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்று சொல்லி;
11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Could the sons now be completed?” But he responded, “There still remains a little one, and he pastures the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse: “Send and bring him. For we shall not recline to eat, until he arrives here.”
௧௧உன்னுடைய பிள்ளைகள் இவ்வளவுதானா என்று ஈசாயைக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: இன்னும் எல்லோருக்கும் இளையவன் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; அவன் ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஈசாயைப் பார்த்து: ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை அழைத்து வா; அவன் இங்கே வரும்வரை நான் சாப்பிடாமல் இருப்பேன் என்றான்.
12 Therefore, he sent and brought him. Now he was ruddy, and beautiful to behold, and with a stately face. And the Lord said, “Rise up, anoint him! For it is he.”
௧௨ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை வரவழைத்தான்; அவன் சிவந்த மேனியும், அழகிய கண்களும், நல்ல அழகுள்ளவனாக இருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா இவன்தான், நீ எழுந்து இவனை அபிஷேகம்செய் என்றார்.
13 Therefore, Samuel took the horn of oil, and he anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord was guiding David from that day and thereafter. And Samuel rose up, and he went away to Ramah.
௧௩அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: தைலக்கொம்பை எடுத்து, அவனை அவன் சகோதரர்கள் நடுவிலே அபிஷேகம்செய்தான்; அந்த நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவியானவர் தாவீதின்மேல் வந்து இறங்கியிருந்தார்; சாமுவேல் எழுந்து ராமாவுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்.
14 But the Spirit of the Lord withdrew from Saul, and a wicked spirit from the Lord disturbed him.
௧௪யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவி சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கினார்; கர்த்தரால் வரவிடப்பட்ட ஒரு தீய ஆவி அவனை அலைக்கழித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தது.
15 And the servants of Saul said to him: “Behold, an evil spirit from God disturbs you.
௧௫அப்பொழுது சவுலின் ஊழியக்காரர்கள் அவனை பார்த்து: இதோ, தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட ஒரு தீய ஆவி உம்மை அலைக்கழிக்கிறதே.
16 May our lord order, and your servants, who are before you, will seek a man skillful in playing a stringed instrument, so that when the evil spirit from the Lord assails you, he may play with his hand, and you may bear it more easily.”
௧௬சுரமண்டலம் வாசிக்கிறதில் தேறின ஒருவனைத் தேடும்படிக்கு, எங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உமக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற உம்முடைய அடியாருக்குக் கட்டளையிடும்; அப்பொழுது தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட தீய ஆவி உம்மேல் இறங்கும்போது, அவன் தன் கையினால் அதை வாசித்தால் உமக்குச் சுகமுண்டாகும் என்றார்கள்.
17 And Saul said to his servants, “Then provide for me someone who can play well, and bring him to me.”
௧௭சவுல் தன்னுடைய ஊழியக்காரர்களைப் பார்த்து: நன்றாக வாசிக்கத்தக்க ஒருவனைத் தேடி, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.
18 And one of the servants, responding, said: “Behold, I have seen the son of Jesse of Bethlehem, a skillful player, and very strong and robust, a man fit for war, and prudent in words, a handsome man. And the Lord is with him.”
௧௮அப்பொழுது அந்த வேலைக்காரரில் ஒருவன் பதிலாக: இதோ, பெத்லெகேமியனான ஈசாயின் மகன் ஒருவனை பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்; அவன் வாசிப்பதில் தேறினவன், அவன் பலசாலி, யுத்தவீரன், பேச்சு திறமை உள்ளவன், அழகானவன்; யெகோவா அவனோடு இருக்கிறார் என்றான்.
19 Therefore, Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, “Send to me your son David, who is in the pastures.”
௧௯அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, ஆட்டு மந்தையில் இருக்கிற உன் மகனான தாவீதை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பு என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.
20 And so, Jesse took a donkey laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid from one of the goats, and he sent them, by the hand of his son David, to Saul.
௨0அப்பொழுது ஈசாய்: அப்பத்தையும், ஒரு தோல்பை திராட்சை ரசத்தையும், ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியையும் கழுதையின் மேல் ஏற்றி, தன் மகனான தாவீதின் மூலமாக சவுலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.
21 And David went to Saul, and stood before him. And he loved him exceedingly, and he made him his armor bearer.
௨௧அப்படியே தாவீது சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றான்; அவன் இவனை மிகவும் நேசித்தான்; அவனுக்கு இவன் ஆயுததாரியானான்.
22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying: “Let David remain before my sight. For he has found favor in my eyes.”
௨௨சவுல் ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, தாவீது எனக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கட்டும்; என்னுடைய கண்களில் அவனுக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்தது என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.
23 And so, whenever the evil spirit from the Lord assailed Saul, David took up his stringed instrument, and he struck it with his hand, and Saul was refreshed and uplifted. For the evil spirit withdrew from him.
௨௩அப்படியே தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட தீய ஆவி சவுலைப் பிடிக்கும்போது, தாவீது சுரமண்டலத்தை எடுத்து, தன்னுடைய கையினால் வாசிப்பான்; அதினாலே தீய ஆவி சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கி, ஆறுதலடைந்து, சுகமடைவான்.
