Lamentations 4
1 ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
Como se escureceu o ouro! como se mudou o ouro fino e bom! como estão espalhadas as pedras do santuário ao canto de todas as ruas!
2 BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
Os preciosos filhos de Sião, avaliados a puro ouro, como são agora reputados por vasos de barro, obra das mãos do oleiro!
3 GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
Até as vacas marinhas abaixam o peito, dão de mamar aos seus filhos; porém a filha do meu povo fez-se cruel como as avestruzes no deserto.
4 DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
A língua do mesmo que mama de sede fica pegada ao seu paladar: os meninos pedem pão, e não há quem lho reparta.
5 HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
Os que comiam delicadezas agora desfalecem nas ruas: os que se criaram em carmezim abraçam o esterco.
6 VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
E maior é a maldade da filha do meu povo do que o pecado de Sodoma, a qual se subverteu como num momento, sem que trabalhassem nela mãos algumas.
7 ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
Os seus nazireus eram mais alvos do que a neve, eram mais brancos do que o leite, eram mais roxos de corpo do que os rubis, e mais lisos do que a safira.
8 HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
Mas agora escureceu-se o seu parecer mais do que o negrume, não se conhecem nas ruas: a sua pele se lhes pegou aos ossos, secou-se, tornou-se como um pau.
9 TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [lack of] the fruits of the field.
Os mortos à espada mais ditosos são do que os mortos à fome; porque estes se esgotam como traspassados, por falta dos frutos dos campos.
10 JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
As mãos das mulheres compassivas cozeram seus filhos: serviram-lhes de comida no quebrantamento da filha do meu povo.
11 CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
Deu o Senhor cumprimento ao seu furor: derramou o ardor da sua ira, e acendeu fogo em Sião, que consumiu os seus fundamentos.
12 LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
Não creram os reis da terra, nem todos os moradores do mundo, que entrasse o adversário e o inimigo pelas portas de Jerusalém.
13 MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
Pelos pecados dos profetas, pelas maldades dos seus sacerdotes, que derramaram o sangue dos justos no meio dela,
14 NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
Erraram cegos nas ruas, andavam contaminados de sangue; e, não podendo, levantavam as extremidades das suas roupas.
15 SAMECH. Depart you from the unclean ones: call you them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yes, they stagger: say you amongst the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
Chamavam-lhes: desviai-vos, é imundo; desviai-vos, desviai-vos, não toqueis, certo é que já voaram, também erraram: disseram entre as nações: Nunca mais morarão aqui.
16 AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
A face do Senhor os apartou, nunca mais tornará a olhar para eles: não reverenciaram a face dos sacerdotes, nem se compadeceram dos velhos.
17 PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
Enquanto subsistiamos, ainda desfaleciam os nossos olhos, esperando o nosso vão socorro: olhavamos atentamente pela gente que não podia livrar.
18 We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn near, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
Espiaram os nossos passos, de maneira que não podíamos andar pelas nossas ruas: está chegado o nosso fim, estão cumpridos os nossos dias, porque é vindo o nosso fim
19 Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
Os nossos perseguidores foram mais ligeiros do que as aves dos céus: sobre os montes nos perseguiram, no deserto nos armaram ciladas.
20 RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live amongst the Gentiles.
O respiro dos nossos narizes, o ungido do Senhor, foi preso nas suas covas; do qual dizíamos: Debaixo da sua sombra viveremos entre as nações.
21 CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwell in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to you: you shall be drunken, and pour forth.
Regozija-te, e alegra-te, ó filha de Edom, que habitas na terra de Uz; porém ainda até a ti passará o copo; embebedar-te-ás, e te descobrirás.
22 THAU. O daughter of Sion, your iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry you captive: he has visited your iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered your sins.
Já se cumpriu a tua maldade, ó filha de Sião, nunca mais te levará em cativeiro: visitará a tua maldade, ó filha de Edom, descobrirá os teus pecados.
