Joshua 1

1 And it came to pass after the death of Moses, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Naue, the minister of Moses, saying,

Und es geschah nach dem Tode Moses, des Knechtes Jehovahs, daß Jehovah zu Joschua, dem Sohne Nuns, Moses Diener, sprach und sagte:

2 Moses my servant is dead; now then arise, go over Jordan, you and all this people, into the land, which I give them.

Mose, mein Knecht, ist tot, und nun mache du dich auf, gehe über diesen Jordan, du und all dies Volk, nach dem Lande, das Ich ihnen, den Söhnen Israels gebe.

3 Every spot on which you shall tread I will give it to you, as I said to Moses.

Jeder Ort, darauf eure Fußsohle tritt, habe Ich euch gegeben, wie Ich zu Mose geredet habe.

4 The wilderness and Antilibanus, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, and as far as the extremity of the sea; your costs shall be from the setting of the sun.

Von der Wüste und diesem Libanon und bis zu dem großen Flusse, dem Flusse Euphrat, alles Land der Chethiter und bis zum großen Meer, zum Untergang der Sonne, soll eure Grenze sein.

5 Not a man shall stand against you all the days of your life; and as I was with Moses, so will I also be with you, and I will not fail you, or neglect you.

Kein Mensch soll bestehen vor dir alle Tage deines Lebens. Wie Ich mit Mose war, will Ich mit dir sein, und dich nicht aufgeben, noch dich verlassen.

6 Be strong and 'quit yourself like a man, for you shall divide the land to this people, which I sware to give to your fathers.

Sei stark und rüstig; denn du sollst diesem Volk das Land, das Ich ihren Vätern geschworen habe, ihnen zu geben, als Erbe austeilen.

7 Be strong, therefore, and quit yourself like a man, to observe and do as Moses my servant commanded you; and you shall not turn therefrom to the right hand or to the left, that you may be wise in whatever you may do.

Sei nur stark und sehr rüstig, daß du haltest zu tun nach all dem Gesetz, das dir Mose, Mein Knecht, geboten hat. Weiche nicht ab davon, weder zur Rechten, noch zur Linken, auf daß du klüglich handelst überall, wo du hingehst.

8 And the book of this law shall not depart out of your mouth, and you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may know how to do all the things that are written [in it]; then shall you prosper, and make your ways prosperous, and then shall you be wise.

Laß dieses Gesetzbuch nicht von deinem Munde weichen und sinne darüber Tag und Nacht, auf daß du haltest zu tun nach allem, das darin geschrieben ist; denn dann gelingt dir es auf deinem Wege, und dann handelst du klüglich.

9 Behold! I have commanded you; be strong and courageous, be not cowardly nor fearful, for the Lord your God is with you in all places whither you go.

Habe Ich dir nicht geboten, du sollest stark sein und rüstig, sollst kein Grauen und kein Entsetzen haben?, denn Jehovah, dein Gott, ist mit dir, überall wo du hingehst.

10 And Joshua commanded the scribes of the people, saying,

Und Joschua gebot den Vorstehern des Volkes und sprach:

11 Go into the midst of the camp of the people, and command the people, saying, Prepare provisions; for yet three days and you shall go over this Jordan, entering in to take possession of the land, which the Lord God of your fathers gives to you.

Gehet hin mitten durch das Lager und gebietet dem Volke und sprechet: Bereitet euch Zehrung; denn in noch drei Tagen ziehet ihr über diesen Jordan, daß ihr hineinkommt und das Land einnehmet, das Jehovah, euer Gott, euch zum Erbbesitze gibt.

12 And to Ruben, and to Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasse, Joshua said,

Und zu den Rubeniten und den Gaditern und zu dem halben Stamm Menascheh sprach Joschua und sagte:

13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, the Lord your God has caused you to rest, and has given you this land.

Gedenket des Wortes, das euch Mose, der Knecht Jehovahs, geboten hat und gesagt: Jehovah, euer Gott, hat euch zur Ruhe gebracht und euch dies Land gegeben;

14 Let your wives and your children and your cattle dwell in the land, which he has given you; and you shall go over well armed before your brethren, every one of you who is strong; and you shall fight on their side;

Eure Weiber, eure Kindlein und eure Viehherden dürfen in dem Lande bleiben, das euch Mose diesseits des Jordans gegeben hat. Ihr aber sollt kampfgerüstet vor euren Brüdern hinüberziehen, alle tapferen Männer, und sollt ihnen beistehen.

15 until the Lord your God shall have given your brethren rest, as also to you, and they also shall have inherited the land, which the Lord your God gives them; then you shall depart each one to his inheritance, which Moses gave you beyond Jordan eastward.

Bis daß Jehovah eure Brüder wie euch zur Ruhe gebracht hat, und auch sie das Land eingenommen haben, das Jehovah, euer Gott, ihnen gibt. Dann dürft ihr in das Land eures Erbbesitzes zurückkehren und dasselbe erblich besitzen, das euch Mose, der Knecht Jehovahs, diesseits des Jordans gegen Aufgang der Sonne gegeben hat.

16 And they answered Joshua and said, We will do all things which you command us, and we will go to every place whither you shall send us.

Und sie antworteten Joschua und sprachen: Alles, was du uns geboten hast, wollen wir tun, und wohin du uns sendest, wollen wir gehen.

17 Whereinsoever we listened to Moses we will listen to you; only let the Lord our God be with you, as he was with Moses.

Ganz so, wie wir auf Mose hörten, so werden wir auf dich hören. Nur möge Jehovah, dein Gott, mit dir sein, wie Er mit Mose gewesen ist.

18 And whoever shall disobey you, and whoever shall not listen to your words as you shall command him, let him die; but be you strong and courageous.

Jeder Mann, der deinem Mund widerspenstig ist und nicht hört auf deine Worte in allem, das du uns gebietest, der soll getötet werden. Nur sei stark und rüstig.
