Job 19
1 Then Job answered and said,
Darauf erwidert Job und spricht:
2 How long will you vex my soul, and destroy me with words? only know that the Lord has dealt with me thus.
"Wie lange peinigt ihr mich noch, zermartert mich mit euren Worten?
3 You speak against me; you do not feel for me, but bear hard upon me.
Wohl dutzendmal versuchtet ihr, mir eine Niederlage zu bereiten. Ihr schämt euch nicht, zum Angriff gegen mich zu schreiten.
4 Yes verily, I have erred in truth, (but the error abides with myself) in having spoken words which it was not right [to speak]; and my words err, and are unreasonable.
Ist's wahr, daß wirklich ich geirrt und daß im Irrtum ich verharre?
5 But alas! for you magnify yourselves against me, and insult me with reproach.
Wollt ihr gar groß tun gegen mich, so müßt ihr meine Schande mir beweisen.
6 Know then that it is the Lord that has troubled [me], and has raised his bulwark against me.
So seht doch ein, daß Gott mir Hindernisse legt! Er hat mich in sein Netz verstrickt.
7 Behold, I laugh at reproach; I will not speak: [or] I will cry out, but [there is] nowhere judgement.
Ich schreie: 'Ha, Gewalttat'; niemand hört's. Ich rufe, und mein Recht bleibt aus.
8 I am fenced round about, and can by no means escape: he has set darkness before my face.
Er hat mir meinen Weg verbaut, und meinen Pfad in Finsternis gehüllt.
9 And he has stripped me of my glory, and has taken the crown from my head.
Der Ehre hat er mich beraubt, die Krone mir vom Haupt gerissen,
10 He has torn me around about, and I am gone: and he has cut off my hope like a tree.
zerschmettert mich, daß ich zerfahren und reißt, wie einen Baum, so mir das Hoffen aus.
11 And he has dreadfully handled me in anger, and has counted me for an enemy.
Sein Zorn ist wider mich entbrannt; er achtet mich als seinen Feind.
12 His troops also came upon me with one accord, liars in wait compassed my ways.
All seine Scharen rücken an, erbauen einen Damm gerade auf mich zu und lagern rings sich um mein Zelt.
13 My brethren have stood aloof from me; they have recognised strangers [rather] than me: and my friends have become pitiless.
Mich lassen meine Brüder; Vertraute gehen von mir.
14 My nearest of kin have not acknowledged me, and they that knew my name, have forgotten me.
Nachbarn und Freunde bleiben aus, und meines Hauses Schützlinge vergessen mich.
15 [As for] my household, and my maidservants, I was a stranger before them.
Die Mägde achten mich für einen Fremden; ein Unbekannter bin ich ihnen.
16 I called my servant, and he listened not; and my mouth entreated [him].
Der Knecht hört nicht, wenn ich ihn rufe; ich muß ihn buchstäblich aufsuchen.
17 And I implored my wife, and earnestly entreated the sons of my concubines.
Und für mein Weib ist meine Zuneigung ein Ekel und meine Zärtlichkeiten meinen eigenen Kindern.
18 But they rejected me for ever; whenever I rise up, they speak against me.
Sogar die Buben, sie verachten mich; sie spotten meiner, wenn ich mich erhebe.
19 They that saw me abhorred me: the very persons whom I had loved, rose up against me.
Die Mindesten aus meinem Kreis verabscheun mich; es wenden, die ich gerngehabt, sich gegen mich.
20 My flesh is corrupt under my skin, and my bones are held in [my] teeth.
An meiner Haut, an meinem Fleisch klebt mein Gebein; mit meinen Narben bin ich einzig da.
21 Pity me, pity me, O friends; for it is the hand of the Lord that has touched me.
Erbarmet euch! Erbarmet euch, ihr meine Freunde! Denn Gottes Hand hat mich getroffen.
22 Therefore do you persecute me as also the Lord [does], and are not satisfied with my flesh?
Warum verfolgt ihr mich wie Gott? Habt ihr an mir noch nicht genug?
23 For oh that my words were written, and that they were recorded in a book forever,
Ach, möchten meine Worte aufgezeichnet und in ein Buch geschrieben werden,
24 with an iron pen and lead, or graven in the rocks!
auf Blei mit Eisenstift, auf ewig in den Fels gehauen!
25 For I know that he is eternal who is about to deliver me,
Ich weiß bestimmt, für mich lebt ein Verteidiger, und schließlich tritt er doch auf Erden auf.
26 [and] to raise up upon the earth my skin that endures these [sufferings]: for these things have been accomplished to me of the Lord;
Dann ändert sich mein Körper hier; ich schaue Gott in meinem Leibe.
27 which I am conscious of in myself, which mine eye has seen, and not another, but all have been fulfilled to me in [my] bosom.
Den ich für mich ersehne, den sehe ich allein und niemand sonst; mag auch das Herz mir in der Brust hinschwinden.
28 But if you shall also say, What shall we say before him, and [so] find the root of the matter in him?
Ihr sprechet ja: 'Womit nur wollen gegen ihn wir vorgehen, da doch der Hauptgrund jetzt bei ihm gefunden ist?'
29 Do you also beware of deceit: for wrath will come upon transgressors; and then shall they know where their substance is.
Nur hütet euch vor der Verleumdung! Verleumdung ist ja Gift und Sünde, daß ihr erfahrt, was richten heißt."
