Chronicles II 25
1 Amasias began to reign when he was twenty and five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name [was] Joadaen of Jerusalem.
Amasías tenía veinticinco años cuando llegó a ser rey, y reinó en Jerusalén durante veintinueve años. Su madre se llamaba Joadán y era de Jerusalén.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
E hizo lo que era correcto a los ojos del Señor, pero no con total compromiso.
3 And it came to pass, when the kingdom was established in his hand, that he killed his servants who had slain the king his father.
Después de asegurarse de que su gobierno era seguro, ejecutó a los oficiales que habían asesinado a su padre el rey.
4 But he killed not their sons, according to the covenant of the law of the Lord, as it is written, [and] as the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, and the sons shall not die for the fathers, but they shall die each for his own sin.
Sin embargo, no mató a sus hijos, como está escrito en la Ley, en el libro de Moisés, donde el Señor ordenó “Los padres no deben ser ejecutados por sus hijos, y los hijos no deben ser ejecutados por sus padres. Cada uno debe morir por su propio pecado”.
5 And Amasias assembled the house of Juda, and appointed them according to the houses of their families for captains of thousands and captains of hundreds in all Juda and Jerusalem: and he numbered them from twenty years old and upwards, and found them three hundred thousand able to go out to war, holding spear and shield.
Entonces Amasías convocó al pueblo de Judá para el servicio militar, y los asignó por familias a comandantes de millares y de centenas. También hizo un censo de los mayores de veinte años en todo Judá y Benjamín, y descubrió que había 300.000 hombres de combate de primera categoría que sabían usar la lanza y el escudo.
6 Also he hired of Israel a hundred thousand mighty [men for] a hundred talents of silver.
También contrató a 100.000 combatientes de Israel listos para la batalla por cien talentos de plata.
7 And there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the host of Israel go with you; for the Lord is not with Israel, [even] all the sons of Ephraim.
Pero un hombre de Dios se le acercó y le dijo: “¡Majestad, no permita que este ejército de Israel se una a usted, porque el Señor no está con Israel, con estos hijos de Efraín!
8 For if you shall undertake to strengthen [yourself] with these, then the lord shall put you to flight before the enemies: for it is of the Lord both to strengthen and to put to flight.
Aunque luchen con valentía, Dios los hará tropezar y caer ante el enemigo, pues Dios tiene el poder de ayudarlos o dejarlos caer”.
9 And Amasias said to the man of God, But what shall I do [for] the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God said, The Lord can give you much more than these.
Amasías le preguntó al hombre de Dios: “¿Pero qué hay de los cien talentos de plata que pagué al ejército de Israel?” “¡El Señor puede darte mucho más que eso!”, respondió el hombre de Dios.
10 And Amasias separated from the army that came to him from Ephraim, that they might go away to their place; and they were very angry with Juda, and they returned to their place with great wrath.
Entonces Amasías despidió al ejército que había contratado de Efraín y lo envió a su casa. Ellos se enojaron mucho con Judá, y regresaron a casa furiosos.
11 And Amasias strengthened [himself], and took his people, and went to the valley of salt, and struck there the children of Seir ten thousand.
Entonces Amasías condujo valientemente su ejército al Valle de la Sal, donde atacaron al ejército edomita de Seír y mataron a diez mil de ellos.
12 And the children of Juda took ten thousand prisoners, and they carried them to the top of the precipice, and cast them headlong from the top of the precipice, and they were all dashed to pieces.
El ejército de Judá también capturó a otros diez mil, los llevó a la cima de un acantilado y los arrojó al vacío, matándolos a todos.
13 And the men of the host whom Amasias sent back so that they should not go with him to battle, [went] and attacked the cities of Juda, from Samaria to Baethoron; and they struck three thousand amongst them, and took much spoil.
Pero los hombres del ejército que Amasías envió a casa, negándose a dejarlos ir con él a la batalla, asaltaron las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Bet-horón. Mataron a tres mil de sus habitantes y se llevaron una gran cantidad de botín.
14 And it came to pass, after Amasias had returned from striking Idumea, that he brought home the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up for himself as gods, and bowed down before them, and he sacrificed to them.
Cuando Amasías regresó de matar a los edomitas, trajo los dioses de los pueblos de Seír y los erigió como sus propios dioses, los adoró y les ofreció sacrificios.
15 And the anger of the Lord came upon Amasias, and he sent him a prophet, and he said to him, Why have you sought the gods of the people, which have not rescued their own people out of your hand?
El Señor se enojó con Amasías y le envió un profeta que le dijo: “¿Por qué adoras a los dioses de un pueblo que ni siquiera pudo salvar a su propio pueblo de ti?”
16 And it came to pass when the prophet was speaking to him, that he said to him, have I made you king's counsellor? take heed lest you be scourged: and the prophet forebore, and said, I know that [God] is disposed against you to destroy you, because you have done this thing, and have not listened to my counsel.
Pero mientras él seguía hablando, el rey le dijo: “¿Te hemos hecho consejero del rey? ¡Detente ahora mismo! ¿Quieres que te derriben?” Entonces el profeta se detuvo, pero dijo: “Sé que Dios ha decidido destruirte, porque has actuado así y te has negado a escuchar mis consejos”.
17 And Amasias king of Juda took counsel, and sent to Joas, son of Joachaz, son of Jeu, king of Israel, saying, Come, and let us look one another in the face.
Entonces Amasías, rey de Judá, se dejó aconsejar por sus consejeros y envió un mensaje al rey de Israel, Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú. “Ven y enfréntate a mí en la batalla”, lo desafió.
18 And Joas king of Israel sent to Amasias king of Juda, saying, The thistle that was in Libanus sent to the cedar that was in Libanus, saying, Give your daughter to my son to wife; but, behold, your wild beasts of the field that are in Libanus shall come: and the wild beasts did come, and trod down the thistle.
Joás, rey de Israel, respondió a Amasías, rey de Judá: “Un cardo del Líbano envió un mensaje a un cedro del Líbano, diciendo: ‘Dale tu hija a mi hijo por esposa’, pero un animal salvaje del Líbano pasó y pisoteó el cardo.
19 You have said, Behold, I have struck Idumea, and your stout heart exalts you: now stay at home; for why do you implicate yourself in mischief, that you should fall, and Juda with you.
Te dices a ti mismo lo grande que eres por haber derrotado a Edom, presumiendo de ello. Pero quédate en casa. ¿Por qué has de suscitar problemas que te harán caer a ti y a Judá contigo?”
20 Nevertheless Amasias listened not, for it was of the Lord to deliver him into [the enemy's] hands, because he sought after the gods of the Idumeans.
Pero Amasías no escuchó, pues Dios iba a entregarlo a sus enemigos porque había elegido adorar a los dioses de Edom.
21 So Joas king of Israel went up; and they saw one another, he and Amasias king of Juda, in Baethsamys, which is of Juda.
Así que Joás, rey de Israel, se preparó para la batalla. Él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se enfrentaron en Bet-semes, en Judá.
22 And Juda was put to flight before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
Judá fue derrotado por Israel; todos huyeron a casa.
23 And Joas king of Israel took prisoner Amasias king of Juda, [son] of Joas, son of Joachaz, in Baethsamys, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he pulled down [part] of the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
Joás, rey de Israel, capturó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet Semes. Lo llevó a Jerusalén y derribó la muralla de Jerusalén a lo largo de 400 codos, desde la Puerta de Efraín hasta la Puerta de la Esquina.
24 And [he took] all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord and with Abdedom, and the treasures of the king's house, and the hostages, and he returned to Samaria.
Se llevó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los artículos encontrados en el Templo de Dios que habían sido cuidados por Obed-edom y en los tesoros del palacio real, así como algunos rehenes, y luego regresó a Samaria.
25 And Amasias the [son] of Joas king of Juda lived after the death of Joas the [son] of Joachaz king of Israel fifteen years.
Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió quince años después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
26 And the rest of the acts of Amasias, the first and the last, Behold! are they not written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel?
El resto de lo que hizo Amasías, de principio a fin, está escrito en el Libro de los Reyes de Judá e Israel.
27 And at the time when Amasias departed from the Lord, then they formed a conspiracy against him; and he fled from Jerusalem to Lachis: and they sent after him to Lachis, and killed him there.
Después de que Amasías renunció a seguir al Señor, se tramó un complot contra él en Jerusalén, y huyó a Laquis. Pero los conspiradores enviaron hombres a Laquis para perseguirlo, y allí lo mataron.
28 And they took him up on horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of David.
Lo trajeron de vuelta a caballo y lo enterraron con sus padres en la ciudad de Judá.
