Psalms 142

1 [A Psalm] of instruction for David, when he was in the cave, —a Prayer. I cried to the Lord with my voice; with my voice I made supplication to the Lord.

[Ein Maskil [S. die Anm. zu Ps. 32, Überschrift] von David. Ein Gebet, als er in der Höhle war.] Mit meiner Stimme schreie ich zu Jehova, mit meiner Stimme flehe ich zu Jehova.

2 I will pour out before him my supplication: I will declare before him mine affliction.

Ich schütte meine Klage vor ihm aus, meine Bedrängnis tue ich vor ihm kund.

3 When my spirit was fainting within me, then thou knewest my paths; in the very way wherein I was walking, they hid a snare for me.

Als mein Geist in mir ermattete, da kanntest du meinen Pfad. Auf dem Wege, den ich wandelte, haben sie mir heimlich eine Schlinge gelegt.

4 I looked on [my] right hand, and behold, for there was none that noticed me; refuge failed me; and there was none that cared for my soul.

Schaue zur Rechten, und sieh: ich habe ja niemand, der mich erkennt; [O. beachtet] verloren ist mir jede Zuflucht, niemand fragt nach meiner Seele.

5 I cried unto thee, O Lord, and said, Thou art my hope, my portion in the land of the living.

Zu dir habe ich geschrieen, Jehova! Ich habe gesagt: Du bist meine Zuflucht, mein Teil im Lande der Lebendigen.

6 Attend to my supplication, for I am brought very low; deliver me from them that persecute me; for they are stronger than I.

Horche auf mein Schreien, denn ich bin sehr elend; [O. schwach] errette mich von meinen Verfolgern, denn sie sind mir zu mächtig!

7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to thy name, O Lord; the righteous shall wait for me, until thou recompense me.

Führe aus dem Gefängnis heraus meine Seele, damit ich deinen Namen preise! Die Gerechten werden mich umringen, wenn du mir wohlgetan hast. [O. weil du mir wohltun wirst]
