Numbers 1
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, dans la tente d’assignation, le premier jour du second mois, la seconde année après leur sortie du pays d’Égypte.
2 Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindreds, according to the houses of their fathers' families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male
Il dit: Faites le dénombrement de toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles,
3 from twenty years old and upwards, every one that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; thou and Aaron take account of them.
depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux d’Israël en état de porter les armes; vous en ferez le dénombrement selon leurs divisions, toi et Aaron.
4 And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families.
Il y aura avec vous un homme par tribu, chef de la maison de ses pères.
5 And these are the names of the men who shall be present with you; of the tribe of Ruben, Elisur the son of Sediur.
Voici les noms des hommes qui se tiendront avec vous. Pour Ruben: Élitsur, fils de Schedéur;
6 Of Symeon, Salamiel the son of Surisadai.
pour Siméon: Schelumiel, fils de Tsurischaddaï;
7 Of Juda, Naasson the son of Aminadab.
pour Juda: Nachschon, fils d’Amminadab;
8 Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Sogar.
pour Issacar: Nethaneel, fils de Tsuar;
9 Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Chaelon.
pour Zabulon: Éliab, fils de Hélon;
10 Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Emiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadasur.

11 Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni.

13 Of Aser, Phagaiel the son of Echran.

16 These were famous men of the congregation, heads of the tribes according to their families: these are heads of thousands in Israel.
Tels sont ceux qui furent convoqués à l’assemblée, princes des tribus de leurs pères, chefs des milliers d’Israël.
17 And Moses and Aaron took these men who were called by name.
Moïse et Aaron prirent ces hommes, qui avaient été désignés par leurs noms,
18 And they assembled all the congregation on the first day of the month in the second year; and they registered them after their lineage, after their families, after the number of their names, from twenty years old and upwards, every male according to their number:
et ils convoquèrent toute l’assemblée, le premier jour du second mois. On les enregistra selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.
19 as the Lord commanded Moses, so they were numbered in the wilderness of Sina.
Moïse en fit le dénombrement dans le désert de Sinaï, comme l’Éternel le lui avait ordonné.
20 And the sons of Ruben the first-born of Israel according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their heads, were—all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that went out with the host—
On enregistra les fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
21 the numbering of them of the tribe of Ruben, was forty-six thousand and four hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Ruben dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante-six mille cinq cents.
22 For the children of Symeon according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères; on en fit le dénombrement, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
23 the numbering of them of the tribe of Symeon, was fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Siméon dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-neuf mille trois cents.
24 For the sons of Juda according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Gad, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
25 the numbering of them of the tribe of Juda, was seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Gad dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante-cinq mille six cent cinquante.
26 For the sons of Issachar according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Juda, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
27 the numbering of them of the tribe of Issachar, was fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Juda dont on fit le dénombrement furent soixante-quatorze mille six cents.
28 For the sons of Zabulon according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,
On enregistra les fils d’Issacar, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
29 the numbering of them of the tribe of Zabulon, was fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
les hommes de la tribu d’Issacar dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-quatre mille quatre cents.
30 For the sons of Joseph, the sons of Ephraim, according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Zabulon, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
31 the numbering of them of the tribe of Ephraim, was forty thousand and five hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Zabulon dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-sept mille quatre cents.
32 For the sons of Manasse according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,
On enregistra, d’entre les fils de Joseph, les fils d’Éphraïm, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
33 the numbering of them of the tribe of Manasse, was thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

34 For the sons of Benjamin according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Manassé, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
35 the numbering of them of the tribe of Benjamin, was thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

36 For the sons of Gad according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
37 the numbering of them of the tribe of Gad, was forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

38 For the sons of Dan according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,

39 the numbering of them of the tribe of Dan, was sixty and two thousand and seven hundred.

40 For the sons of Aser according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
41 the numbering of them of the tribe of Aser, was forty and one thousand and five hundred.

42 For the sons of Nephthali according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one who goes forth with the host,
On enregistra les fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes:
43 the numbering of them of the tribe of Nephthali, was fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
les hommes de la tribu de Nephthali dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.
44 This is the numbering which Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men, conducted: there was a man for each tribe, they were according to the tribe of the houses of their family.
Tels sont ceux dont le dénombrement fut fait par Moïse et Aaron, et par les douze hommes, princes d’Israël; il y avait un homme pour chacune des maisons de leurs pères.
45 And the whole numbering of the children of Israel with their host from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out to set himself in battle array in Israel, came to
Tous ceux des enfants d’Israël dont on fit le dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux d’Israël en état de porter les armes,
46 six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
tous ceux dont on fit le dénombrement furent six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante.
47 But the Levites of the tribe of their family were not counted among the children of Israel.
Les Lévites, selon la tribu de leurs pères, ne firent point partie de ce dénombrement.
48 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
49 See, thou shalt not muster the tribe of Levi, and thou shalt not take their numbers, in the midst of the children of Israel.
Tu ne feras point le dénombrement de la tribu de Lévi, et tu n’en compteras point les têtes au milieu des enfants d’Israël.
50 And do thou set the Levites over the tabernacle of witness, and over all its furniture, and over all things that are in it; and they shall do service in it, and they shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
Remets aux soins des Lévites le tabernacle du témoignage, tous ses ustensiles et tout ce qui lui appartient. Ils porteront le tabernacle et tous ses ustensiles, ils en feront le service, et ils camperont autour du tabernacle.
51 And in removing the tabernacle, the Levites shall take it down, and in pitching the tabernacle they shall set it up: and let the stranger that advances [to touch it] die.
Quand le tabernacle partira, les Lévites le démonteront; quand le tabernacle campera, les Lévites le dresseront; et l’étranger qui en approchera sera puni de mort.
52 And the children of Israel shall encamp, every man in his own order, and every man according to his company, with their host.
Les enfants d’Israël camperont chacun dans son camp, chacun près de sa bannière, selon leurs divisions.
53 But let the Levites encamp round about the tabernacle of witness fronting it, and [so] there shall be no sin among the children of Israel; and the Levites themselves shall keep the guard of the tabernacle of witness.
Mais les Lévites camperont autour du tabernacle du témoignage, afin que ma colère n’éclate point sur l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël; et les Lévites auront la garde du tabernacle du témoignage.
54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
Les enfants d’Israël se conformèrent à tous les ordres que l’Éternel avait donnés à Moïse; ils firent ainsi.
